Not to put too fine a point on it, Chapman's brain has left her and is currently orbiting the planet Jupiter.

I met a real life children's consultant at a party last year who had these exact same views. To the letter.

What is horrifying is they sort of know it is absolute bullshit, you can hear it in the slight hesitations when you say things the interview did like "so do you think 8 year olds should vote?" but such is their 'Intellectual' arrogance, they have an absolute belief that if you don't subscribe to their beliefs then you are a thicko far right pleb who just 'doesn't get it'. Which is obviously the cue for the patronising 'be kind' explanations - why do they all have the exact same tone of voice?

The irony of this ideology (actually homophobic, actually not kind) is quite a sight to behold.

Edited

yeah, I think there's an intellectual arrogance going on, but it's so full of holes, one wonders why they continue with it.

Because if no one knows what sex they are without chromosomal testing how do they know what they're transitioning from and to, Maggie?

Coolstorysis · 12/12/2023 16:22

Anyone who has ever had a period or a hard on can be certain of their genome (that particular chromosome anyway).

I have no idea @AnonnyMouseDave tbh, I imagine it's a combination of groupthink, in and out group aggression, and the apparent lack of scientific education. Although seeing actual doctors spouting this shift makes me doubt the latter.

HipTightOnions · 12/12/2023 16:23

Because if no one knows what sex they are without chromosomal testing how do they know what they're transitioning from and to, Maggie?

And, as Tom Swarbrick pointed out, how does Maggie know she herself is not trans? Grin

Coolstorysis · 12/12/2023 16:28

That's the contradiction, they say chromosomes don't dictate sex, yet ask if you know yours and its not that simple. It's an argument not even worth engaging with.

This is what I mean by disingenuous, any arguing that sex doesn't truly exist even by scientists is sophistry

What's the moon done to deserve being wired to Loopy Lou?? That's a bit unfair to igneous rocks everywhere.

TheABC · 12/12/2023 17:22

Just watched the interview - bloody hell!
She couldn't answer the questions and at the end she was spitting out her talking points as quickly as possible before Tom could challenge her.

DuesToTheDirt · 12/12/2023 17:58

So "when we teach about sex being binary....that is a gross oversimplifcation". Riggght.

hamstersarse · 12/12/2023 18:02

My encounter with a doctor who was in a deathly patronising tone telling me “I didn’t understand, you can’t tell without testing chromosomes” ended up in me going round people at the party and saying “do you need to do a chromosome test on Bob here to tell me he’s a bloke?” (Bob = 6ft 4, beard, 3 kids via his wife). Etc etc.

“Do you really need me to test his chromosomes? Really? Are you really an actual doctor?”

I was rude tbh but it was warranted imo. And I was fuelled by wine. And he was a children’s doctor!!

ive seen him since at another party, and despite me saying hello in a bit of a sheepish white flag way, he blanked me. He’s a beta male. Wonder if that’s got something to do with it, they rely on their ‘intellectual’ capacity rather than traditional physical masculine traits, they see their intellectual prowess as their super power. You never see alpha type blokes supporting this rubbish, always the betas.

Igneococcus · 12/12/2023 18:08

I have said it before, I quite happily test Maggie's chromosomes for her, I have everything require for it.

PomegranateOfPersephone · 12/12/2023 18:32

So I suppose 8 year olds can vote, can decide to change legal sex and how about get married? Consent to physical intimacy?

If this is how the Green Party is thinking no wonder they are attracting some interesting characters…

Her way of thinking is part of the movement to “free” children from the “tyranny” of loving parents, that is to remove the inconvenience (to some unrelated adults and other interested parties) of parental rights and responsibilities.

I would pay good money to see the video of that, and I would pay even more to sit with that doctor, watching the video, and then having a long chat with him afterwards where he's wired up to get an electric shock every time he knowingly lies.

popebishop · 12/12/2023 18:49

If no-one knew what sex they are, no-one would know if their sex "matched" their personality, so no-one could be transgender.

Anyone saying people don't know what sex they are is erasing trans people.

I get a visceral HATE when I see people like Chapman talk, the sort of hate that would normally be reserved for a convicted serial killer or literal fascist dictators. I always wonder the extent to which there's an element of misogyny in my reaction.

Then I think of those therapists in the Walsh Film and how much harm they are doing to children...

Me too
its weird like in Scotland you can rape a girl and not get put in prison as you are under 25 years old and you can’t tell right from wrong as your brain is not mature enough

yet an 8 year old is mature enough to change their legal sex

make it make sense Maggie

CriticalCondition · 12/12/2023 19:33

This sums up what nonsense it is just perfectly. Thank you. I shall mentally file this away for future use.

Omg I laughed way too hard at this!

Me too! I'll pay!! I'll pay! And good money too!

AvacadoFieldsForever · 12/12/2023 20:57

If Mags needed medical attention she’d want a doctor who understands why sex is important.

If she needed a surrogate she would know why sex was important.

If she was making a profit from people with pregnancies, periods, menopause, miscarriage etc she would know exactly who her target audience was.

If she could make a million pounds playing sport she would want sex specific competition because she knows there are 100 years of data on why that’s important.

If she was in a life threatening situation like a prison or a refugee camp she would want to be in a sex specific area because we know 93% of people in prison are one sex.

She’s lying to our faces.

I know exactly what you mean.

However, the first time I heard the ridiculousness that if you're not tested for your chromosomes, how do you know what sex you are was from Riley J Dennis. Another male lesbian.

Mostly what I thought was, you thick, but manipulative, one of his wanker. But I kind of expected it. Patriarchs gonna patriarch, right?

When an educated woman does it, I think it's a double whammy, because there's a massive betrayal. You know she's lying, and pandering to men, and it feels utterly traitorous. Plus expecting you to buy it feels so very contemptuous of her own sex.

Quick reminder of the vote that gave Maggie her seat. You will see this is a regional election result and Maggie’s name is not listed on the ballot, only the party is. You will also note they got just 6.29% of the vote. Welcome to the benefit of PR - someone not listed on the ballot whose party 93.71% of voters voted against, gets to sit as a member of the Scottish Government on influential committees.

Oh, and MC should really spend some time talking to detransitioners, and maybe their parents too

Sadly, I get the feeling that Maggie would view detransitioners as apostates and therefore not worthy of being listened to or taken seriously. There is a whiff of the evangelical or proselytising about her on this topic.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 13/12/2023 02:00

The look of a zealot.

Redskyatwhatever · 13/12/2023 02:17

My female surgeon ( maybe I should have asked to double check but she appeared to be an actual woman) didn’t suggest doing a chromosome check before offering me a hysterectomy I wonder why not? I could have been confused and not been an actual woman with a female reproductive system, she seemed to think that she could tell I was a woman, her being a doctor and all that.
