Tory deputy chair Rachel Maclean accused of transphobic remarks www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-67650988

Harsh and rude, but not actually untrue. If the person only started transitioning last year, they won't have a GRC yet, so will be classed as legally male, surely?

The only thing Rachel McLean has 'promoted' in this case is common sense.

So a non crime hate incident recorded against Rachel for telling the truth.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: ‘The incident was logged as a non-crime hate incident (NCHI) as the content of the post was perceived by the person who reported it to be hostile towards the transgender community. This caused the person who reported it concern.’

What a fucking joke

DrBlackbird · 19/12/2023 00:01

No wonder hate crime statistics have sky rocketed. Is this really how non-crime hate incident is defined?

If a biological male in a dress and a wig can report feeling ‘concerned’ and have the offender interviewed by the police, why could the police not find a tiny bit of time to look into Gracie Spinks stalker? The one who later murdered her…

So obvious who matters to the police and who doesn’t.

The interview with Gracie’s parents on WH today was indescribably heartbreaking. She should still be alive and would’ve been if the police cared a fraction, just a bloody fraction, of what they care about TW.

It’s even more disturbing though, @DrBlackbird - it doesn’t even need to be the biological male in the wig doing the reporting to police, anyone who feels it is “against” transpeople can report it and have the NHCI recorded against someone.

In this case, anyone with time on their hands, could report ‘transphobia and hate’ to the police, and the police will act on it. I wouldn’t be surprised if vast numbers of NHCIs result from the same source complaining to police (and the person complained about would not even know the mark had been placed against them).

SinnerBoy · 19/12/2023 01:29

As far as I understand, the Police had been instructed to stop wasting precious time and money on recording these malicious, rubbish complaints as NCHIs? I wonder if West Mercia Police will explain why they think that the guidance doesn't apply to them?

Are NCHIs include din 'hate crime' stats, does anyone know? When people talk about rising hate crime against trans people, is this actually what they mean?

SamW98 · 19/12/2023 07:32

Helen Joyce, of campaign group Sex Matters, said: ‘It’s both terrifying and ridiculous for the police to record a “hate incident” against a female MP for speaking the truth about a man.
‘The expansion of what constitutes “hate” to include using polite, accurate words like “man” and “male” for transwomen is just the latest way to shut up women who dare to talk publicly about matters that concern them, and to try to frighten other women into staying silent.’

Totally agree with HelenJoyce

ArthurbellaScott · 19/12/2023 07:34

Are Melissa Poulton's jokes about raping children 'hate crime '?

InefficientProcess · 19/12/2023 08:03

I really despair if this non-crime hate incident stuff.

if its ‘non-crime’, then the police should not be getting involved. Especially not when they still so often don’t intervene in abusive and coercive relationship issues because ‘it’s a civil matter’.

Then there’s the ‘hate’ part. Hate cannot be defined on the feelings of the complainant. It has to be based in evidence of the motivations of the person being complained about. The intent matters.

It’s like half the country needs some sort of CBT to understand that their thoughts and feelings are not objective reflections of reality.

It would be interesting to see what happened if someone felt 'concerned' enough to report it.

ArthurbellaScott · 19/12/2023 09:13

I think we know what would happen. Nothing.

I agree that the police would show no interest because it's not a ' non crime' against the sacred caste that is trans women BUT

Why on earth do the Green Party not realise that this person isn't fit to stand in office?

itsfinallytime · 19/12/2023 13:24

Goodness me Arthurbella, I did know some of that but seeing it set out like that is truly horrifying.

What has any of that got to do with environmental issues? If anything being pro-trans is pro-big pharma, because ultimately that's what medical transition does. So how is that in any way compatible with saving the planet?

I wonder if most Green voters are even aware of these issues? It ought to be enough to make a person run a mile.

Tallisker · 19/12/2023 13:48

Yeah loads of artificial hormones getting into water supplies etc is apparently really bad environmentally too...

I'd suggest most party members are not even aware of these issues. Nor of the women (and men) who have been expelled, suspended, or even attacked by GP members.

See these members/ex members for more:

SGP - these two left over the issues:

Andy Wightman

'A Scottish Greens MSP has quit the party over its "alienating and provocative" stance on trans rights. '

Robin Harper

'Robin Harper, a former leader of the Scottish Greens, has quit the party, saying it has “lost the plot”.'

Green Party Women has been disaffiliated:

Emma Bateman
Dawn Furness
Shahrar Ali
Zoe Hatch
Helen Steel
Andy Healey

Have all faced poor treatment at the hands of the new factions in the GP - hence the first three taking the GP to court.

Members are resigning over it:

Andy Wightman accuses the party of having an "alienating and provocative" attitude to debate on the issue.

Anyone making a complaint about him, for his vile jokes, would probably get arrested and be put in the NCHI jotter for transphobic harassment.

(I'm not even joking).
