Harsh and rude, but not actually untrue. If the person only started transitioning last year, they won't have a GRC yet, so will be classed as legally male, surely?

So this person is a Green Party candidate (no surprise there) and the 2022 photo shows him in a garden with what looks like a discarded mattress.

Now, he could have been using that dumped mattress to say 'see what disgusting things people deposit around the place! We, the Green Party, promise to sort this shit out'.

But I somehow don't think that's what's going on there.

Well, it seems that the Police have actually not only learned some lessons, but taken them onboard and applied them. They said that a complaint had been made about Rachel Maclean's Twitter post, but that no action had been taken, because there was no crime.

Melissa must be absolutely fuming! 😀

and this bit- explaining she had been born a biological man before beginning her transitioning last year- seems to suggest Melissa transitioned soon after being born. Sort of leaves out what looks like about at least 40 years lived experience as a man.

Does Melissa think that Rachel is manipulating her constituents into questioning their sanity by referring to Melissa as a man, because Melissa is so clearly a woman, and any rational person can see that Melissa is a woman (because clothes etc.), so calling her a man is some kind of psychological manipulation? I don't get it.

🤔Or is it just that people throw expressions like "dog whistle" and "gas lighting" around when they don't like what someone is saying but are incapabale of coming up with a proper argument against it.

And on a side note, yes, why are there so many men in dresses with v dodgy behaviours in the Green Party? And why have they so little interest in the environment?

I have a theory, based on the the Danish political drama Borgen, in which the former Danish PM decides to found a new political party. The idea is really popular with the public; however, initially, when the party calls for people to join and help fight the election, it attracts tons of people who see this new party as a vehicle for their particular obsession/hobby horse. These new members attempt to force the party to adopt their views as official policy (but are successfully fought off).

I think the resurgence of interest in environmental politics has caused something like this to happen in Green parties - lots of donations and lots of new people joining who aren’t strongly interested in environmentalism but see the Green parties as a good vehicle for advancing their particular hobby horse and, in each country, the Greens failed to successfully stick to their core principles and have been taken over.

Regardless, several elected officials blasted Rachel Maclean’s comments, with Redditch Labour group leader Joe Baker calling her comments “vile and hateful“.

“People who hold positions of authority should be looking after those they are in a position to serve,” Baker said.

“I understand that the situation is sensitive and I believe everyone has a right to their opinions, but when that opinion promotes hate and harm then this needs to be challenged.

Of course labour joining the pile on. Promotes hate and harm, vile and hateful - oh get a grip with the drama, it’s the truth

The only gaslighting that's going on here is the bloke in the wig claiming to be a woman, and a lesbian at that, then having the gall to call the woman who calls him out a transphobe.

More proof, were it ever needed, that the truth is transphobic.
