I watched it last night.
I totally disagree with this comment from a PP: The subject matter is too serious for that kind of cheap slapstick treatment imo.
I think the slapstick, straight up piss take, is exactly what is needed on this subject and that's what makes the film great.
The power of ridicule cannot be understated and it's been largely missing in the debate because no one dared to do it.
So we're left with important but serious discussion of something blatantly absurd.
This cuts through that. The best thing about it is that they've dared to make it.
The film itself is amusing in an old school 2000 sports comedy type way. It's not roll around funny but it made me smile.
Some of the production is a bit clunky, and the acting variable.
Jeremy Boreing (who is a good actor) has said they couldn't get any actual actors to be in the film. Even ones who work with The Daily Wire on other projects wouldn't touch this. So they had to use all the Daily Wire employees as actors. Which adds amusement if you're a daily wire listener, but will go over your head if you're not.
I thought it got all the points of the issue covered well. What kids are being taught, how men are abusing it, and even why some people may be genuinely become confused about their gender but they still can't change sex.
All done in a slapstick sports comedy genre.
I also liked the speech Jeremy gave to his daughter when she said she wanted to be a boy. I imagine feminists may take against it but I thought it was a beautiful message to little girls about the amazingness of woman very rarely made or heard.
I also liked the squeezed in message about divorce: 'don't you people Google the outcomes before you blow up your kids lives.'
Again something very rarely said out loud but in my opinion, true.
So, it was good but not great in terms of production etc.
But it's just bloody amazing they made it. I hope they put out a free viewing on twitter soon to explode the heads of the TRAs.
The person that I think has actually been funniest on ridiculing this phenomenon is Ricky Gervais. His bit on this was laugh out loud funny.
But the more we laugh at it the better and this is another potentially massive blow to the validity of the whole charade.
