I would be surprised if cinemas wanted the flak but I am hopeful for Netflix, given the success they have previously backing Gervais and Chapelle.

I don't think they'll release it. They want Daily Wire subscriptions.
They may do a free 24 hr showing on twitter like they did with What's a Woman but that'll be months later.

Daily Wire is already slated by all the people who will slate this for being "far" right. In reality they are fairly mainstream US conservative right. So they won't care about the screaming and foot stamping and twitter storms from the TRAs and the left, because they have already done all that.

I guess that's an unexpected upside of being cancelled. If you survive it, what more can they do to you?

This does look pretty funny. And even if the whole film isn't seen by that many people due to only being on the DW subscription service, there will be a million you tube videos with clips which will get a much bigger audience.

Apart from anything, watching the trailer I felt relief that someone is making funny films again, stupid funny films that are irreverent and take the piss, like the old days. It feels old school with a new target to piss take.

Daily Wire seem to be moving into making more TV and film content that is "like it used to be"*. They are making children's stuff under Bent Key Productions, including a live action Snow White film which is both a clear two fingers up at Disney, but also being billed as a classic production of the original fairly tale, true to its values. They are also making an Arthurian style kids TV series, The Pendragon Cycle. I think they are looking to start sneaking market share from parents who just want to let their kids watch films and TV that aren't going to be chock full of "woke" propaganda. Whether it's full of other propaganda I couldn't say! But it's not much of a stretch to imagine that a large amount of middle America would be pretty happy with that.

It is. I wish more people would hold their nerve and not grovel pathetically in the vain hope of being rehabilitated. These people don't forget or forgive, once you've sinned. Better to stick two fingers up to them once and for all and deal with the fallout.

As for the film coming out, cannot wait. Tempted to pay or whatever daily wire to get access. It looks hilarious.

I think this is a really interesting phenomena.

Based on the trailer it might be kind of a one-joke film, but it's shot as well as your average comedy-sport Hollywood film.

I do think, like someone up-thread said, that this thing where there is a whole alternate film scene is really interesting. There's already a kind of alternate Christian movie industry, but I suspect if you had a less overtly religious, slightly better quality product, it could really make a shed-load of money. And it wouldn't be just religious people watching, there is a huge swathe of Americans who are fed up with movies and tv that seem to be so politisized.

Sound of Freedom already showed that a movie without that can go right to the top. Though why a film about child trafficking should be considered a no-go in Hollywood is something to ponder.

In what way do you think that watching a film would put you "on the same side" as someone who briefly appeared in it?

So, people won't watch a video because Ted Cruz is in it? Well, that is nothing new. We hear all the time from people who also refuse to read something because it comes from 'the wrong media' or is written by 'someone they disagree with'. It never makes a sound or reasoned argument but that is fine.

This looks like it is more entertainment that might make some people think rather than a documentary. And if it makes a huge group of the public rethink their stance, then that is great. The more avenues of communication the better in this case. Because the female athletes who are desperately attempting to get heard and get their message out are being assaulted, being abused and threatened at worst. At the very least they are being constantly shamed by people who won't read something because someone they disagree with wrote it, or because it is has been published by a media company that they don't align with.

If these men want to make this video, then they can have at it. Just because some of them have politics or beliefs that I don't agree with doesn't mean that I don't agree with them that male people should not be included in the female category of sport. And I will watch it so that I can make an informed opinion on it.

It probably is like reading something from the Times or the Daily Mail, I reckon. Someone reading or watching media that they don't agree with automatically makes some people align with people they don't agree with. or something.... maybe it makes people's heads explode. Who knows.

Anecdotally, I've found that people who can take the piss out of themselves (and others) tend to be a lot more moderate and reflective than any of the fanatics on either side. I 'll be watching the fallout from this with interest.

If you are not on the same side as Ted Cruz 'in this' then you do not support a ban on men in women's sports, as that's the side he's on.
