Woman’s Hour feedback

It seems that TRAs are complaining to the BBC about Emma Barnet’s interview with the endometriosis charity CEO. Please take the time if you can to send in a positive report of the show. Emma did a cracking job on challenging the erasure of the word ‘woman’ by the charity, amongst other points she raised so well.

Been meaning to do that, so thank you for the nudge.

I added that they better not demean a brilliant presenter by making her apologise for doing her job.

I didn’t know, so left that blank! I’m assuming they’ll be able to link your message with the correct programme!

I'm listening to it right now. It is a shining example of saying the quiet parts out loud.

"Can you name a trans organisation with a non-trans CEO?" "Stonewall". Well, quite.

"The CEO of Shelter doesn't have to be homeless". Well, yes, but if he/she were cosplaying being homeless and had a long history of criticizing the homeless then things might be said...

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstotheyard · 18/11/2023 13:52

I did it a couple of days ago, and the confirmation email also went into my junk folder. Did anyone's texts from the day of the broadcast get read out, does anyone know? I wonder if it will get covered in the Weekend Woman's Hour programme. Anita Rani is resolutely TWAW, disgracefully calling GC women transphobes over Twitter after she interviewed Liam/Paris (Surname can't remember!), which I complained about being a political view (complained to no avail, as usual). If she doesn't include it, that will be very telling, considering all the publicity it has garnered for the programme.

@Motorina the correct answer to a question about whether the CEO of Shelter should be homeless is “no. It rouse, of course, be difficult for a homeless person. To be CEO of any charity. But the CEO of Shelter should be someone who recognises the challenges of Ho else’s es and can identify the types of people who might become homeless.
By example: the CEO of Prostate Cancer U.K. is a woman. If you look at the PCUK website, you will see prostate cancer described as a risk for “men” — ie the female CEO of a charity related to men’s health I de estand the charity’s work is focused on men.
the reason the appointment of the new CEO of the endometriosis charity is a travesty is not because of the gender identity of the CEO but because the CEO doesn’t acknowledge that endometriosis is a woman’s illness.
