I think the issue here is that endometriosis has long been a woefully misunderstood condition and women’s pain has been ignored. This is one charity crying out for a CEO with one or all of the following:

a) medical / gynaecology experience
b) lived experience of endometriosis
c) experience running health charities

None of the above applies to Steph AFAIK. What does being CEO of a very biologically-female-specific charity do for Steph? Does Steph care about women and their pain? Or is this very female-centric role about validating Steph’s acquired gender identity?

I would feel better about this if it was a generic health charity for both sexes. I don’t have a problem with TW getting jobs with charities but something about this seems really off, particularly given Steph’s hostility towards those who don’t pander to gender-flip. I’m not sure Steph can be the best advocate for women living with endometriosis.

Reminds me of the man who lied about being female and head up Rape Crisis Scotland. It’s all for power, control and affirmation by utilising the most vulnerable women to do so.

If you look at their website, this is an extremely small charity with an income of a few thousand pounds a year. It seems to engage very little with the issue of endometriosis and appears to be mostly interested in promoting trans rights.

My post got deleted for literally posting this article which has a statement from the charity founder who is a trans activist which makes it more understandable why she refuses to say woman and hired Steph.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-12742595/Outrage-charity-womens-condition-appoints-trans-woman-CEO.html

Interesting it got deleted, not sure how a statement with no comment is an issue. Scary times with the censorship of women.

Outrage as charity for women's condition appoints trans woman as CEO

EXCLUSIVE: Women labelled the appointment of a trans women, who previously boasted about helping men secretly dress up as schoolgirls to the charity's leadership as 'ridiculous'.

Yeah I feel the same whenever I see a man taking a woman’s place, Steph.

Endometriosis charity hire a TW as CEO
Endometriosis charity hire a TW as CEO
Endometriosis charity hire a TW as CEO
Endometriosis charity hire a TW as CEO
Startingagainandagain · 14/11/2023 12:41

Sod that...

I had endometriosis and adenomyosis before menopause and I was in chronic, often unbearable pain for decades.

There is also so much ignorance still in the medical professional still (took me forever to get a proper diagnosis and I was dismissed for years...).

The last thing we need is someone who has never had a period in their life telling me about endometriosis...

The CEO of that organisation should be a woman who has experienced the pain and frustration of having that type of condition.

This is beyond ridiculous.

Just like I would feel silly as a woman being the CEO of a prostate cancer charity...sometimes we just have to use common sense and not this current bizarre desire to be as self-righteous as possible and come up with this type of nonsense.

Cancelledcurio · 14/11/2023 13:06

And this is why I am finding it hard to consider voting Labour . I was a member for years and will not accept this clown as a woman. Steph has a nasty side as well and dismissed one of the young men on twitter who allege that they were groomed and sexually abused by members of an Youth LGBT charity when they were care leavers. Steph is NOT a nice person.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/11/2023 13:09

Steph also wrote a nasty blog directed at @TinselAngel and Trans Widows Voices saying that she and other trans widows are playing the victim.

Madcats · 14/11/2023 13:16

Unless this charity has been awarded a hefty grant from somewhere, it seems more like a vanity post rather than something doing more than a couple of leaflets/speaking gigs to support their existence.

It had income <£10k in 21/2 (accounts for the year to 31 March aren't filed yet).

I don't have a problem with a bloke having the top post of a charity championing women's health but I would expect a very strong CV to underpin whatever the role might be.

This charity seems to be utterly unfit for purpose.

The good news is that the EDI Vampire will shortly be consuming it from the inside out.
I give it 18 months, tops.

Hopefully there is An Actually Useful Org for Actual Women with Endometriosis.

If anyone can recommend one I will immediately donate a fiver, inspired by Steph.

Great idea. If anyone has one they’d recommend I’d also happily donate to that so women have the help they need.

Tbh the whole thing seems to be a trans vanity project and Stephanie appointment just a token back slap.

I would have zero problem if the CEO of an endometriosis charity was a man with a background in female reproductive health or an experienced charity CEO bought in to offer expertise and experience but Steph appears to have neither - or indeed any - such qualifications.

The Endometriosis Foundation seems to have replaced the word ‘woman’ with the word ‘individual’, as in ‘Individuals with Endometriosis’ (which is ironic because one of the reasons Endo sufferers have struggled to get a timely diagnosis is due to systemic sexism- women as a class have been ignored in favour of the default male at worse and deprioritised at best).
The website is pink and has many pictures of women, but the word that refers to us appears to be verboten:

https://www.theendometriosisfoundation.org/understanding-endometriosis

Endometriosis UK have gone for ‘women and people assigned female at birth’, they provide peer to peer listening services and group support, so unless anyone can suggest a third option I will to donate to Endometriosis UK.

I think ‘CEO’ is exaggerating the role a bit.

From last year’s accounts there are no paid employees and the biggest expenditure was on a charity skydive, from which funds were presumably raised. Annual income is about 8k.

if you grabbed 4 runners with charity places at the London Marathon it’s likely that they would have raised a similar amount.

MrShady · 14/11/2023 14:31

It's crazy

I said to my GP about 8 years ago I thought I had endo, they said there was nothing they could do
This year I changed doctors, and they sent me for an ultrasound. It's so advanced it's visible on the ultrasound, my ovaries are kissing (with scar tissue, my bowel and bladder are involved and they've said it's significant pelvic, bowel and bladder endo

Wait time for a consultant because the private hospital can't do the op? A year SadAngry

MrShady · 14/11/2023 14:37

On the plus side we have three of these centres in the NW near me which is where I'll be going as it needs a bowel surgeon in theatre, but the wait list for all 3 is around a year

This isn't the same Steph person who seems to treat the police as their private security detail and keeps reporting women on social media platforms, is it?
