I doubt if anyone is surprised. But it took a long time for them to give a shit about actual women.

SeulementUneFois · 31/10/2023 18:03

Good.

IcakethereforeIam · 31/10/2023 18:05

Do they hear themselves

Governor Mark Kennedy said that each prisoner, no matter what their gender, is assessed when being admitted to the jail.
He explained: "All prisoners that come into prison, there's a risk assessment done. There's a number of risk assessments. There's a medical risk assessment, a security risk assessment on all prisoners, no matter what gender they are

Despite all these risk assessments, so many risk assessments, Barbs was still put in the women's prison to terrify staff and other inmates. And, it seems to me, to the detriment of Babs himself.

These 'risk assessments' seem to be of sweet fuckall use.

ResisterRex · 31/10/2023 18:11

Perhaps they should be safety assessments.

"How safe is this person?"

"How safe is it to house this person here?"

"How safe is it to release this person?"

"How safe will this person be for this other person if we change these things, or keep these things the same?"

And so on

littleripper · 31/10/2023 18:17

Ahhh so it turns out the violent man's behaviour improved when housed with violent men in the violent man section of the estate. Funny eh?

WeighDownOnMe · 31/10/2023 18:19

This person is only allowed out of their cell, flanked by offices, while everyone else is locked up?

How can they possibly say that their behaviour is improved?! Lack of opportunity isn't the same thing at all.

Rightsraptor · 31/10/2023 18:31

Still calling him 'she'.

Fucking ridiculous.

LakeTiticaca · 31/10/2023 19:01

Of course his behaviour has improved. He won't be able to intimidate the lags.
He probably spends most of his time in his pad, shitting himself 🤣

Froodwithatowel · 31/10/2023 19:30

There are plenty of men in category A prisons who have to have a set number of officers in attendance before the door to their cell can be unlocked. And times when a large group of guards in riot gear are needed to contain and manage a man who has become a serious danger to himself or others. There are a lot of very dangerous, difficult men in the system that it's barely possible to take out of a locked single room without risking injury. Kardashian's nothing special in the terms of mens prisons.

It was insane to ever try this in a women's prison. I'm sure in time the full facts will creep out about the incidents and harms that led to having to put this dangerous individual back in sex based provision and admit the mess made in hopeful good will. It's like men in any women's provision: men push to the limit and break it. And break women in the process.

SpuddyMary · 31/10/2023 19:34

Oh god, I'd forgotten about this freak!

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 31/10/2023 19:38

About fecking time, the violent behavior this person has shown is outrageous and to have been put in with women when they obviously have an issue with woman and a deep hatred of women was just shocking and why was the safety issue of women not the main priority.
As other's have said course they are behaving as they are in with men who would knock their lights out.
I was shocked when first read about this person and all the horrific violent crimes and to be housed with women and then for the Irish media to ban the publication about this person. Why is this person more important than women and the safety of women. No man should be in women's spaces that should be safe, hospitals, changing rooms, toilets, prison etc.

ArthurbellaScott · 31/10/2023 19:49

for the Irish media to ban the publication about this person

To be clear, it was on the instruction of Tusla that news stories were taken down.

There will always be violent predatory males. As Frood notes above, this is just something that society has to deal with.

What is new, and shocking, is government agencies complicity in protecting these males and helping them to access victims. Based on their 'identity' into a more vulnerable, less risky population.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 31/10/2023 20:02

Why did Tulsa do that then. Do not really have confidence in them as they don't seem to be doing much to protect those underage girls that are so vulnerable and the same thing will or is happening that happened in the north of England. Girls in care homes been picked up by men and this story has been also hushed.

ArthurbellaScott · 31/10/2023 20:03

Yes, it's a mystery. Kardashian was not a child at the time.

Was pleasantly surprised to hear the issue of males in the female estate being raised several times in a Newstalk piece on the official opening of the new women's prison. Was unsurprised by the avoidance and buck passing in the answers received. Think it might have been in this episode linked but can't relisten now to check. https://www.newstalk.com/podcasts/highlights-from-the-hard-shoulder/a-tour-of-the-new-limerick-female-prison
Re Barbie....I'm just concerned that his new "good behaviour" will be used to justify transferring him back.

To the surprise of no one! Barbie’s offending pattern screams lack of respect for women, of course he will behave better amongst men.

Hopefully they can find ways to keep him there indefinitely, because I can’t see a route to rehabilitation (sadly).

Poor boy was completely fucked up by his own father, and Barbie the young man is just as dangerous to women as his dad.

StephanieSuperpowers · 31/10/2023 21:47

There's no shortage of men who are prepared to be violent and intimidating towards women but mice around men.

IcakethereforeIam · 31/10/2023 21:58

I wonder what happened to his Dad? It's worrying to think he's free to abuse and screw up more women and children.

He was originally under Tusla care on foot of a high court special care order when he made the threats against his mother and the attempted rape. He wasn't quite 18 then. At the same time another high court order also existed prohibiting Irish media from disclosing his gender - not sure why that was awarded but I suppose it has to do with him having a Gender Rec Cert and being legally a "woman". Either way I'm sure his legal team would've made the request for that order but then Tusla, as legal guardians when he committed the offences, would have had a legal obligation to uphold the high court order. Madness that such a dangerous man can masquerade as a woman, but I think that's the background to it.

ArthurbellaScott · 01/11/2023 07:32

Thanks, Tattoed. I'd forgotten the ins and outs. There was extensive detail on the court case at the time, I think. Of his background, life, and crimes. Very upsetting reading.

Oh god, I'd forgotten about this freak!

We must never forget about him. I'd like to slap his photo over Green Party and PBP posters at the next election here in Ireland.

In fact , why don't we suggest he runs as a candidate for one of them? They'd probably go for it !

The risk assessments are about the safety of the prisoner himself, not the prisoners they will be put in with. This is because putting dangerous men in the women's prisons is a brand new and insane development so all the protocols are not fit for this purpose.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 01/11/2023 21:21

Thank you Tattoed. It is madness though and he is very scary looking and I read lots about the violent behavior and how he nearly gouged the eyes out of a care worker who was driving him somewhere and nearly strangled him with his legs also. He needs ongoing phychiatric help as very dangerous and hates women like his dad did. Seems shocking that he was locked up in a women's prison.
