Trans 13yo suing West Virginia over bar on males in female sport starts puberty blockers.

Becky Pepper-Jackson (previously discussed on MN as an example of how yes, every single male in female sports has an enormous - negative - impact on girls & women) is now, aged 13, taking puberty blockers in a bid to win the ACLU-backed lawsuit against West Virginia’s ban on male participation in female sport.

The lawsuit alone has been rumbling on for years; Becky transitioned young & from available photos, has not only just entered puberty. While I’m delighted Becky seemingly wasn’t put on blockers at the first sign of puberty hitting given the brutal nature of the drugs & the lack of reversibility; it makes their use now seem like a calculated attempt to somehow circumvent the rules. It’s very clear Becky’s mother is pushing this, too - “we don’t like being in the spotlight” (but I’ll turn my child into the figurehead of a campaign movement & [allow the] supply [of] publicity images to various organisations: very convincing, that 🤨).

Absolute main character syndrome again - the conviction the law is an attack on “trans girls” not a defence of the rights of women & girls 🙄

Trans athlete fighting to compete against girls launches lawsuit

Becky Pepper-Jackson, 13, has been in a years-long struggle to compete in sports since West Virginia Governor Jim Justice banned transgender students from sports in May 2021.

Poor child, and poor girls that will lose out. Obviously thousands of girls are selfishly being ignored by a mother who is almost certainly driving this.

It will also probably eventually be noted that the sporting rules fall foul of the human rights diktat that sterilization should never be coerced. Hopefully the sports bodies which are currently hiding behind the requirement that boys/men can only compete in girls’/women’s’ sporting events if they haven’t gone through puberty will see that this gives incentive to narcissistic parents to push their children onto this destructive pathway and will close their cowardly loophole.

quantumbutterfly · 29/10/2023 09:36

Wow. Does she know about the loss of bone density when a male body doesn't get testosterone?
It breaks my heart to see healthy children being damaged.

NitroNine · 29/10/2023 09:48

It is wretched isn’t it? Becky’s probably been immersed since a very young age in promises of “becoming a woman” with no real - or rather, no honest, discussion of what that means.

Becky’s mother insisting that everyone is wonderful & accepting & wants Becky on the team with them is infuriating. If any of those girls were to voice anything that sounded vaguely like that they’d be accused of bullying & punished not just by the school but RIP their social media presence & that of anyone even vaguely connected to them because Becky’s mother would absolutely hunt down literal children & set ravening hordes of TRAs on them for committing acknowledgement of reality transphobia.

Interesting about the sports loophole @PriOn1 However I suspect that any child who fails to go through puberty will never be a top rate athlete. Their bodies will be weak & their bones brittle. Boys and men can successfully cheat in women's sport if they've benefited from puberty - as we're seeing daily..

Froodwithatowel · 29/10/2023 10:09

It always is about the absolute right to trample others in search of the desired life experience.

Having said that, poor kid. They are being failed on multiple fronts.

Poor trans kids can't win with you lot.

Oh, they have an advantage having gone through puberty, keep them out of sports! Oh look at all the gold medal winners in the Olympics? Oh there are none.

Oh, no, cant let them go on blockers. They are too young! And what? Now try and play sport without the advantages of a male puberty? The Horror.

It does however amuse me on a Sunday reading all the pearl clutching.

Remember, the trans adults of today were the trans kids of yester-year.

And it remains, very low regret rates.

Ah, on with my cappuccino. More froth!

caringcarer · 29/10/2023 10:28

It would make sense for trans athletes to have their own sports events. Competing against their own kind seems fair and no one else would care.

thirdfiddle · 29/10/2023 10:45

Hmm, pics of Becky online suggest that like my son aged 13-14 this is a child already launched into puberty and will already have testosterone advantage.

And yes, boys shouldn't be in girls sports. Not if they've had testosterone fuelled puberty. Not if they've not had testosterone fuelled puberty, because apart from anything else it would be abusive to say to these children you can carry on in your current sports team but only if you take these pills and make yourself a lifelong medical patient.

Sometimes you just can't have what you want. Life lesson.

Froodwithatowel · 29/10/2023 10:45

Girls sports should not be commandeered as a therapeutic resource for unhappy boys. Girls are not a therapeutic resource for unhappy boys. It's not difficult.

Girls are not any more a therapeutic resource if the boy has been given drugs to modify their body or prevent puberty, or if they haven't.

Girls are not things for the use of boys.

If boys' sports no longer suit all boys' sport then additional categories will be needed.

But the girls and their sports remain unavailable. They and their lives at no point become a consolation prize or a support animal for boys. You'd have to be quite phenomenally sexist not to get this.

Froodwithatowel · 29/10/2023 10:48

Or I suppose you'd have to be completely blinded by a belief that a boy has turned into a girl, and believe that you are somehow acting righteously by trying to enforce this belief on everyone else.

This.

It's depressing that some people still fail to see it.

I like to think that in this instance we clutch at pearls of wisdom. Actually I like to think.

Don’t be daft mate, we’ve been saying that puberty is an erroneous line ever since the sports federations proposed it.

Baby boys and girls have different height and weight trajectories FROM BIRTH. if you’ve had a kid in the U.K. you will know this, as baby boys get a blue chart and baby girls get a pink chart.

I thought exactly the same, those pictures are not of a prepubescent child.

Yes - the World Athletics cutoff for elite sports is "beyond Tanner stage 2" or age 12, whichever cones earlier. So starting them at 13 would be an empty gesture. As empty as the padded bra the wretched child looks to be wearing in the pics that go with the article.

FreddysSquishyBollock · 29/10/2023 10:57

Pretending you can make girl by chemically castrating a boy at puberty helps no one.

2-18

Now, has anyone in gender ‘medicine’ bothered to chart the growth of male transitioners post blockers? Because judging from the small number of public paediatric transitioners early invention creates obesity (Jazz Jennings) and later intervention creates very tall and thin adults (Jackie Green, Hunter Schafer) and Nikki Tutorials is much bigger than a female human by all metrics.

Ellen is several inches taller than the US average female, btw.

Nikki started transition at 14.

Re. Height - delayed fusion of the long bones of the legs.

Same process that was responsible for the noted extra height of castrati, boys castrated before puberty to preserve their high singing voices, once the became adults

MrsOvertonsWindow · 29/10/2023 11:25

Always interesting to see trans activists advocating for children to be physically harmed in order to serve the interests of trans ideology. Unthinkingly telling them that of course they're the opposite sex is doing so much damage to already mentally vulnerable children.

These children need the support and involvement of informed and educated adults with empathy and compassion - not self invested activists who repeatedly pose a danger to children when they weigh in on child healthcare, education, sport and safeguarding.

We all win when the truth is told.

Girls win because they keep their sports, dignity and privacy.

'Trans kids' benefit from therapy and support, rather than brutal medical treatments to sterilise them and turn them into poor facsimiles of the opposite sex, to live a lie that no-one believes in.

Organisations benefit because they can make decisions based on evidence, rather than tying themselves in absurd knots and pleasing no-one.

Mishy could spend Mishy's Sundays drinking cappuccino and doing something more rewarding than explain to women how were doing it wrong.

(Okay, maybe Mishy loses out. But the rest holds.)

heathspeedwell · 29/10/2023 11:46

It's demonstrably not true that 'the trans adults of today were the trans kids of yester-year'.

Plenty of men who describe themselves as trans adults today are very open that they never had dysphoria as a child.

Also the vast majority of gender confused kids grow up to be perfectly happy in their own sexed bodies given a watchful waiting approach.

So gender non-conformity among young people and among adults are usually two entirely separate things.

FreddysSquishyBollock · 29/10/2023 11:50

And indeed plenty of trans adults have children of their own, so they clearly have no idea what it’s
like to be castrated as a child.

Isn’t it obvious? Everyone competes in the section for their biological sex, and no-one takes puberty blockers.

Enjoy the cappuccino.
