Green Party Women under attack

Can anyone help explain what's happening with Green Party Women and the Green Women's Declaration? I've looked for a thread on here but can't find anything. Apologies if I've managed to miss it.

I'm a long-standing member of the Green Party, though not v active. There have been a lot of emails arriving in the last couple of days from people on both sides and it sounds as though things are blowing up.

I haven't been able to keep up-to-date with what's happening but get the gist of it - attempted (illegal?) booting out and silencing of GC people, that doesn't appear to have worked and has backfired fairly spectacularly.

I'd really like to understand the background and what ordinary members can do to support the GC women in the current situation.

There's a Zoom mtg for members tomorrow but bang in the middle of kids bedtime so I can't make it unfortunately :(

Can anyone throw any light on this and maybe point in the right direction for more info? Many thanks!

That's ok. Some of us on this thread might have missed it on another thread.

Girls just aren't allowed any boundaries. I'm out of words.

Coverage of the disaffiliation of Green Party Women on the BBC website this morning and on Radio 4's 7 o'clock news.

The recording of the Green Women's Declaration panel event (Emma Bateman, Dawn Furness, Zoe Hatch and Alison Teal talking about their mistreatment by the Green Party) is now up on YouTube and there's a link on the Declaration website.

Well, at least the BBC coverage should mean there's a chance that Green Party who genuinely didn't know about this are now aware of it.

Hopefully. I'm a member of the Green Party and if Green Party Women but I have heard nothing officially from the Party about the disaffiliation of GPW.

There has also been total silence about Shahrar's case.

Thanks so much for these - watching the meeting now.

Emma hits the nail on the head describing how women with these lawful views have been systematically picked off and isolated, which is a shaming technique.

And the desired outcome is to subdue and hope that the impact is to leave the party.

However, these women #willnotwheesht. They are utter heroes.

It may seem contradictory, but joining the party, if you feel green leaning and are not particularly interested in joining other parties, would be extremely supportive right now.

The votes for individuals standing for various roles can be extremely close, sometimes under 10 votes. So every member counts.

Why does this matter? From my point of view this is the party that younger voters are more likely to join. Climate change is a constant conversation in and outside schools. (My 5 year old was rabbiting on about the impact of co2 from something on CBeebies yesterday!) And we know the impact that hardline tra ideas has on younger people.

From personal anecdotal observations it's also more likely to attract autistic young people than other parties. And I don't need to explain the significance of that.

The party needs to return to its scientific roots and focus on what it is meant to focus on.

Yes me too, there's been no communication.

@WaWarriorN You have hit the nail on the head about the importance of every vote.

The Green Party recently held internal elections. The winners were announced except for that of E and D co-ordinator.

The ERO (electoral returning officer) is a TRA. She is a heterosexual woman married to a heterosexual man but calls herself queer.
The TRAs' preferred candidate didn't win and she found an excuse to rerun the E andD election.

The first time winner won again but one of the TRA candidates didn't take part in the 2nd election, many of their voters transferred their support to the other TRAs and he won by less than 10 votes

We desperately need more left leaning women who care about the environment to join the Green Party to vote for GC candidates and for sensible neutrals who prioritise the environment.

Standard membership rates have just gone up but the reduced rate is only a couple of quid a year.
