New guidance issued on World Menopause Day.

I have not the words.

My employer thinks trans women can go through menopause.

Oh ffs. There’s no hope is there?

ArabellaScott · 18/10/2023 23:11

Jesus wept

FFSWhatToDoNow · 18/10/2023 23:12

So it’s when ovaries stop producing oestrogen, which should be a clue that it doesn’t affect male bodies, because they don’t have ovaries.

And then the suggestion that a trans woman coming off hormone therapy is the same as the “natural process” that menopause is is fucking laughable.

Not to mention “cisgender women”.

😡 😡 😡

Criiiiinge.

ZenNudist · 18/10/2023 23:13

No words sorry.

ArabellaScott · 18/10/2023 23:15

Can you say what sector?

TheUsualChaos · 18/10/2023 23:15

So many words when they only needed one.

WOMEN.

FFS.

lifeturnsonadime · 18/10/2023 23:16

The menopause journey is unique to the person and not everyone experiences it the same way

Talk about stating the fucking obvious. Males don't experience the menopause.

I wonder if this is why we are getting a spike of articles suggesting that males do experience something similar?

CharlotteFlax · 18/10/2023 23:17

Is it true that you have to come off opposite sex hormones before having "gender affirming surgery?"

Sawaranga · 18/10/2023 23:17

Fuck me.

Who writes this shit. Seriously.

Wishitsnows · 18/10/2023 23:17

Saying cisgender women rather than women is so offensive!

Annalouisa · 18/10/2023 23:17

Please do update us on prostate cancer awareness day, so we can find out if it affects trans men, according to your employer...

JellySaurus · 18/10/2023 23:24

I have had a transwman try to tell me that their experience coming off oestrogen for a few weeks before having surgery was comparable to menopause.

No.

PermanentTemporary · 18/10/2023 23:26

I have rarely read anything so profoundly misogynistic. Your employer clearly gives no shits about the menopause, as they've either asked somebody ignorant to 'write some copy about this thing for the website' or they've bought some stupid content off the shelf without reading it.

I'm a bit dubious about recent efforts to foreground the menopause, and if it results in this kind of nonsense, my dubiousity is doubled.

I'd think it was reasonable if cross sex hormones were stopped before surgery, as they seem to add significantly to health risks. But it might be that's more true for women on testosterone than for men on oestrogen. Who knows, eh? Why include sex as a factor when having surgery on the reproductive system?

Get a new job. Your employer hates women.

bringbacktheladiesloos · 18/10/2023 23:32

Interesting isn't it, how the menopause is making it's way into policy, since men starting saying they can get it. Interesting.

Cancelledcurio · 18/10/2023 23:37

Ffs sick of this bollocks!(as I sit fanning ma beetroot red raw rash that I have developed since becoming peri- GP doesn't take me seriously!?).

Stroopwaffels · 18/10/2023 23:37

I have had a shitty few years with the menopause. One of the big battles for many women is getting your GP to take you seriously - not writing your very really symptoms off as "just one of those things" or fobbing you off with antidepressants. It's shit.

And just as women are starting to be heard, it's all undermined by this sort of nonsense about how men can have a menopause too.

I find that really offensive, tbh.

No.

So menopause is like a drug addict experiencing withdrawal.

Interesting take.

moogdroog · 18/10/2023 23:52

Our menopause policy tells us we must be especially mindful of transwomen who 'might be mourning their lack of menopause'.

I kid you not.

I would not hesitate to tell them to fuck off to the far side of fuck, and when they get there, to fuck off some more. GRRRRR!

StrikeItMucky · 19/10/2023 00:02

Wtaf?!! I'm getting bored of this shit now.
I had a meeting, of sorts at work, earlier this week and one of the guests referred to pregnant women, as "Birthing person" 😠😠
I work in Maternity, not Paternity! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Alopeciabop · 19/10/2023 00:16
