'men shouldn't be abusive towards women ... nothing gives them the right, regardless of how strongly they hold their views'

If only you'd had the courage to stand up for women when the GRR bill was voted on. Self serving weasel.

Too little, too late.

BlackForestCake · 13/10/2023 19:57

I am not sure whether he is trying to walk back a little or he was just ambushed with the question and didn't know it was about the Bad Women that you're allowed to shout abuse at.

However weak and mealy-mouthed the condemnation, it's more than Sturgeon ever uttered.

OvaHere · 13/10/2023 20:06

Not a fan of Yousaf at all but perhaps under the current circumstances he's feeling less than gracious towards people who are pretendy victims of their feels.

Yes. And as Ova says, he is dealing with a lot at the moment. I imagine he has probably had it up to the eyeballs with first world genderbollocks.

Has he says anything about the current Israeli/ Hamas conflict?

HermioneWeasley · 13/10/2023 20:11

How does he know they’re men?

His wife's parents are trapped in Gaza.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 13/10/2023 20:15

It’s not much but waaay more than Sturgeon ever did

At least he expressed condolences for the Israelis that were brutally murdered and raped by Hamas. That’s more than many have managed.

AgentProvocateur · 13/10/2023 20:46

Regardless of politics, he’s in a dreadful situation and my heart goes out to his extended family. His wife’s grandparent is elderly, and she has nieces/nephews there - all of who will be left behind if her parents do manage to get out.

Mollyollydolly · 14/10/2023 00:04

I hope his family are ok, it must be terrible even trying to function in such an appalling situation. I might disagree with him about almost everything, but I can't imagine the anxiety.

Hellomynameisnt · 14/10/2023 06:47

My heart goes out to him too. It is a terrible situation for him and his family, and so many families swept up in this conflict.

Merrilydancing · 14/10/2023 08:38

I never have anything good to say about him but my heart does go out to him and his poor family.

ArabellaScott · 14/10/2023 08:45

Agree with all of that. A horrible situation.

Interesting to see an SNP Councillor speaking at Filia, too.

And two Green Councillors outside protesting.

I cannot imagine the torment he and his wife are going through.
It must throw the complaints of these privileged young posers into stark relief.

Rainbowshit · 14/10/2023 09:18

Humza for once has conducted himself very well here and said all the right things about hamas, Israel and the abuse being hurled at women. What a worrying time for him.

Yeah this. Can't stand the man, but it's a terrible situation. He must be very conscious of not making his in-laws a target (for either side). Imagine how it must feel, worrying that your wife's parents might be murdered or killed in an airstrike, if you say the wrong thing.

Stephannee · 14/10/2023 10:55

From what I saw there were equal numbers of men and women in the protesting crowd? Same as anytime there are protests against events considered anti-LGBT and hateful.

ArabellaScott · 14/10/2023 11:01

Anyone who considers feminism anti LGBT and hateful is either very confused or a misogynist.

OP posts:
ArabellaScott · 14/10/2023 11:03

I wonder if Humza's firm statement that women shouldn't be abused signals a shift within the SNP.

Previously, we've just had responses that damned women and fanned over any anti feminist activists. I have the broomcupboard speech in mind.

Anyone who thinks shouting “fuck you” at the survivors of male violence in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria or indeed anywhere in the world is a cunt whether they are male or female

hope that’s clear to our current resident raging misogynist
