'men shouldn't be abusive towards women ... nothing gives them the right, regardless of how strongly they hold their views'

I am sure someone would have briefed him that this was the largest feminist conference in Europe, attended by the UN special Rapporteur for VAWG and many other women who are internationally renowned for their work on women's rights. Including an SNP MP and an SNP Councillor.

The protestors would have been described as trans rights supporters.

He has made a tiny shift, I think.

It could do @ArabellaScott they can’t be so dense as to not be aware of how badly IB damaged them

CrossPurposes · 14/10/2023 11:21

Stephannee · 14/10/2023 10:55

From what I saw there were equal numbers of men and women in the protesting crowd? Same as anytime there are protests against events considered anti-LGBT and hateful.

You have no idea what you are talking about. And they had no idea of what they were protesting against. You and they should be utterly utterly ashamed of your own blind hate.

Stephannee · 14/10/2023 11:25

ArabellaScott · 14/10/2023 11:01

Anyone who considers feminism anti LGBT and hateful is either very confused or a misogynist.

Not "feminism". We're talking specifically about anti-trans hate, right?

ArabellaScott · 14/10/2023 11:28

Don't be ridiculous.

Anyone who thinks shouting “fuck you” at the survivors of male violence in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria or indeed anywhere in the world is a cunt whether they are male or female

hope that’s clear to our current resident raging misogynist

Well said.

Absolutely everything is a narcissistic mirror to these folk ,and I mean everything, centring them and reflecting themselves back to themselves to the point that they can't see anything else and if they do happen to see anything/anyone it/they can only be considered as either a threat to or confirmation of their precious identities.

It's both tedious and pathetic.

How could you tell?

Perhaps half the crowd were carrying gold purses?

Humza for once has conducted himself very well here and said all the right things about hamas, Israel and the abuse being hurled at women. What a worrying time for him.

Yes.

Solidarity with Humza, his family and All the civilians caught up in this horrific conflict, Israeli, Palestinian or visitors to the region, like Humza’s DMIL.

IcakethereforeIam · 14/10/2023 11:53

Cllr Elaine Gallagher, iirc, reverse ferreted and said the problem with Filia was that it didn't include transpeople. So, according to this Cllr. tw weren't discussed, so there could have been no 'anti-trans hate' or it'd have been said. Mindful of the cameras, the Cllr. had to tell the truth.

I think if any tp wanted to attend and talk about or listen to talks about women's rights, they'd have been welcome.

I can't criticise Hamza for what he's said about Israel and Hamas. He must be worried sick.

You keep ignoring what the conference is about and running away every time someone asks you why it shouldn't happen, but I'll try again.

Can you please explain how incredible women coming from all over the world to discuss the oppression of women, the loss of their rights in Afghanistan, FGM, domestic abuse, child marriage etc, is 'anti-LGBT'?

How is women speaking on these topics 'anti-trans'?

SpiderMaam · 14/10/2023 12:11

Here’s a list of book titles written by some of the speakers at FiLiA2023:

https://uk.bookshop.org/lists/filia2023-speaker-titles

Just in case any lurkers want to see some of the topics that Stephanie-Margarita considers to be ‘anti-trans’…

It’s a mystery how genderists do this.

Perhaps they all have a pair of Layla Moran’s Magic Gender-Soul Seeing Spectacles?

So you think women coming together to talk about issues that specifically affect them is "anti trans hate"?

If not, you're going to have to be very specific of what exactly you DO mean, backed up by examples and evidence.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/10/2023 13:17

What terry said.

yourhairiswinterfire · 14/10/2023 14:00

It does make me laugh that some posters think they can just throw around accusations of FiLiA being 'anti-LGBT' and 'anti-trans' on here and it'll just be swallowed up.

This isn't Reddit where anyone pointing out the truth will be deleted because it contradicts their narrative. This isn't Twitter where they just have to say the magic words 'anti-trans' with zero evidence to get a woman-hating froth-fest going, and where anyone who could tell them who these speakers are and what they actually speak about is blocked, because again, it contradicts their narrative.

This board knows what FiLiA is about, many of us have been. So what are they trying to achieve, who are they trying to convince? Lurkers, maybe? That won't work either, because lurkers can also see the ridiculous, unevidenced accusations being torn apart in minutes.

About FiLiA: 'Speakers and delegates are coming from all over the world to share experiences of campaigning to end the global sex trade and the trafficking of children, femicide and the abuse of black women by the police and military. There are women from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America and Australian Indigenous communities.'

Desperately trying to convince a predominantly female forum that those women speaking about those issues is 'anti-trans hate' is an absolute waste of time.

As a complete aside, but linking to the idea that FILIA is just a transphobic thing, have a look at what some activist has created as the Wikipedia page for FILIA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FiLiA

It's not possible to edit it, either! We have always been at war with East Asia.

Crikey that’s incredible. Wikipedia have done a tremendous job documenting all the people who really hate feminists.

Yeah, this stuff is why Wikipedia can fuck off to the far side of forever with their constant pleas for donations. And I did used to donate.

The whole page is basically 'it's transphobic coz X said it is'.

Maybe stephannee thinks opps wrong word believes FILIA to be transphobic because it’s not about the T at all, therefore we’ve erased the T because we must centre.the.t.at.all.times.

Bit like if you stop believing in fairies they stop existing. True Fact™️

Clearly for some people women are irrelevant. Truer Fact™️
