JK Rowling: Nandy 'one of the biggest reasons' women on Left don't trust Labour

The latest criticism comes as Labour holds its annual conference in Liverpool.

On Tuesday night, Ms Nandy tweeted an extract from her speech, which included the words: “Women’s rights are human rights and human rights are non-negotiable.

“My absolute priority will be to embolden and empower women and girls in every part of the world.”

This incensed Ms Rowling, who replied: “You said rapists should be transferred to women’s prisons if they self-identify as women.

“You called Woman’s Place UK a hate group.

“Given that you’re one of the biggest reasons many women on the Left no longer trust Labour to defend their rights, do you stand by these comments?”

Ms Rowling was referring to a question and answer session at the Labour conference in 2020, just after Sir Keir became leader.

Good for JKR. She is amazing. I'm listening to the witch trials podcast. I love her even more.

Wish she was my MP.

oooops!

The video clip I posted a link to showing Lisa Nandy waffling about trans women are women is 3 years old (quite obvious if you scroll down the page).

So I'm afraid I did the classic and because someone had recently posted I just thought of so this is why JKR is being so public about Liza Nandy.

But presumably LN did say something as I cant think JKR would pick her out of all the Labour women traitors, for no reason.

Lisa Nandy was singled out as she has recently made a speech about her support for women's rights.

JK wasn't the only person to mention it, but probably the highest profile person.

IwantToRetire · 13/10/2023 16:52

Do you know when the more recent speech was and / or if there is any article saying what she said?

Thanks

Thanks no time to listen now, but I do see from her twitter feed where she posted a short link, that this is where JKR intervened. Or rather asked a question and got no answer.

To be given a specific example of a man who raped a child, and to reply that we should be sympathetic to his request to be held in a women's prison - and the inference that anyone who doesn't consider him a woman is a raging bigot - is abhorrent.

I agree, then in any subsequent media appearance during the leadership campaign and after when asked about women's sex based rights she just kept babbling about "more light, less heat"

More light, less heat is the one thing I actually agree on amongst all the garbage spouted by Labour MPs on this.

More light is exactly what is needed to illuminate the total idiocy of their position.
