So apparently Karen has had an epiphany. Yet all I can think is what's the angle, what does Karen get out of this

'I should never have been put in women's jail' says trans rapist https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12579285/trans-rapist-went-sexually-assault-female-prisoners.html?ito=native_share_article-nativemenubutton

'I should never have been put in women's jail' says trans rapist

EXCLUSIVE: Convicted paedophile and rapist Karen White, who was born a man, molested female inmates in a three-month reign of terror at New Hall women's prison in West Yorkshire.

Well at least he knows what a woman is.....

DiabolicalFinial · 01/10/2023 01:37

So everything he did was the fault of the officials who placed him in the women’s prison?

I see it’s still only known violent and sexually abusive men who are excluded from women’s prisons. They are so desperate to pander to these men, it’s sickening.

White is right, of course, but I wonder what his incentive for saying it was. Presumably his lawyer has told him that it will look good and might shorten his sentence or something.

Out of all the names, why on earth would you chose to call yourself Karen? Especially with that wig.

That alone shows a MH problem. Or irony on a massive scale.

I think the whole 'Karen' meme is very recent in the UK. I'd never heard of it before about 2020, in the wake of BLM.

It had probably been more prominent in the US before then, but I don't think we can read too much into the choice of name.

Do you work for the dailly mail ???- this is just click bait - don't click on it

puffyisgood · 01/10/2023 07:09

it's hard to be too optimistic about what this c admission might mean given that his ever having been anywhere near the inside of a female jail proves that all last semblance of logic long since departed the building in this particular 'debate'.

The Mail are at the forefront of fighting back and exposing trans madness. So I for one will definitely click and I wholeheartedly support them

Is a parole opportunity in the offing?

Rightsraptor · 01/10/2023 07:31

The 'Karen' thing is yet another American import. And, as with most American political & cultural imports, it doesn't work in the UK.

I read a piece recently, maybe by Julie Birchill, about how Karen is a working class name in the UK which was popular the 1960s (it was), but the American 'Karen' is a middle class 'Get me the manager' pushy person. So - not the same, doesn't have the same connotations.

Of course White blames others. It's his modus vivendi. The women he raped probably brought it upon themselves in his estimation.

Why do they use that photo of him? There's a far more accurate one available.

KohlaParasaurus · 01/10/2023 07:32

The views of the violent male criminal "Karen" are likely to be taken more seriously by the establishment than the views of millions of women.

Rightsraptor · 01/10/2023 07:32

OK, as you were - I clicked and the other pic is there. Good.

NotBadConsidering · 01/10/2023 07:34

He doesn’t have a mental health disorder. He is a predatory male who chanced his arm and couldn’t believe his luck when idiotic officials went along with it. And women were harmed as a result of both his actions and those in the system. I don’t expect him to be ashamed but I hope those who enabled him are.

TotalOverhaul · 01/10/2023 07:39

What David Thompson/Stephen Wood gets out of this is MORE ATTENTION ON DAVID THOMPSON/STEPHEN WOOD. Can't be bothered to call him Karen White even ironically. He's an insane egomaniac.

Rightsraptor · 01/10/2023 07:41

The article is misleading.

I his 4 page letter to an unnamed women's rights activist, White says tw shouldn't be allowed in women's prisons if they have male genitals. The unnamed activist is quoted seemingly agreeing with this, whereas the stance of KPSS is in no male prisoners whatever the genitals. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking the woman is from KPSS but they'd be the logical group to send it to.

This!

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2023 07:47

'White says 'all I could see was fear in the faces' of female inmates when they arrived at New Hall jail five years ago. 'They would have seen me as a man in woman's clothing and a threat to them,' writes White, who has been described as a 'towering figure in a blonde wig'.'

ArabellaScott · 01/10/2023 07:48

He is 6 foot tall, a serial sex attacker and rapist, and says he asked not to be put in the women's estate but was put there against his will.

Particularly as the newspaper I would have assumed (many years ago, before I became aware of all this) would have covered this kind of thing - The Guardian - can't be trusted. Their last offering regarding Karen White was an eye rollingly awful piece by Zoe Williams. Their coverage of the Wi Spa incident was appalling.

And that's the paper which many of the posters on here (including myself) used to read avidly. However, I'm more likely to put a 'it's a Guardian link...' warning on a post nowadays.

OfficerChurlish · 01/10/2023 07:54

White's 57, according to the article, so much have been born in 1965 or 1966. Karen was one of the top UK girls' names all through the 1960s - number 3 in 1965. It's pretty common for trans people to choose a name they might have been given had they been born the opposite sex (which if you think about it makes much more sense than choosing a name that's popular at the time of transition but would have been unlikely to have been the person's birth name).

In the US, "Karen" as a misogynistic/rape apologist insult had its origins on Reddit, where the first known usage dates to December 2017. White appears to have changed names before that time, as the switch to a women's prison happened in September 2017 which must have been post-"transition".

Woman2023 · 01/10/2023 08:06

Exactly. Attention for being sympathetic to women? Envy

Helleofabore · 01/10/2023 08:06

I wondered at that to rightsraptor. I wonder who White sent the letter to. Because it doesn’t matter if that male has or hasn’t had their cock chopped off. I don’t know many prominent feminists who would make that distinction.

I also felt the wording around Liz Hogarths quote was confusing. While I am sure she certainly doesn’t want the current guidance reversed, surely her quoted statement seems more in line with keeping all male prisoners out. I have looked to see what the boundaries are that she campaigns for but cannot find anything quickly.

Does anyone else remember whether she is campaigning for full male exclusion? Or is she supportive of the level of exclusion in the current guidance?

Woman2023 · 01/10/2023 08:14

I do wonder who took the letter to the DM. I certainly wouldn't give him the satisfaction of thinking anyone cared what he thought about women's safety.

BonfireLady · 01/10/2023 08:26

What an odd development. Anyway, it all helps in highlighting that transwomen aren't women. But yes, type of genital ownership shouldn't be a qualifier.

Another vote for clicking on Daily Mail links from me (another disappointed long time Guardian reader) who really have been excellent on the issues that arise from gender identity belief.
