Is this sub heading for FWR new?

A feminism forum for sex and gender discussions, feminist chat, theory and intersectional feminism.

I thought when MNHQ forced through the split so that the nice girls weren't going to have to be made aware of angry GC feminists, that the remit was much smaller ie sex vs. gender.

Does this mean we aren't so awful and other aren't unintentionally contaminatedby being in our vicinity?

But also raises the question if it is okay to "chat" here why is there a separate thread called chat?

I just noticed this as well, hopefully it will stop people coming on and telling OP's off for wanting to discuss a range of topics.

Intersectionality has deserved it's own section for some time. Sex and Gender should remain as it is.

"Sex and gender" is FWR ie Feminism and Women's Rights and is about the political analysis of women's discrimination based on the reality that women as a sex class are discriminated against by the male sex class. ie Women's Liberation.

It never changed. MNHQ attempted to rebrand it because some posters claimed it was too intimidating to post on FWR and so they needed somewhere they could "chat".

Hopefully we can go back to the good old days, as the new sub heading already makes the attempted rebrand (ie putting the bad girls on the naughty step) a failure.

You cant have a political discussion about sex and gender unless it it within the framework of Feminism and Women's Rights ? Women's Liberation.

I wonder why it's been rebranded.

This sub board was created because the intersectional feminists hated the " obsession" with trans. However, its clearly more popular than the feminist chat board.

The cynic in me thinks it's to allow the scolders in. Not that they ever left.

Oh everything you said! and I'm not advocating for the remit to change, and will object if it has. Perhaps some MNers have lobbied for the sub-heading/remit to change? A separate intersectionality section is a fair solution for such a large topic.

So there is no new remit, just someone getting their links back to front.

And here I was preparing for a brand new or rebrand future under the banner of Women's Liberation for Feminist and Women's Rights.

What a shame that someone snitched, when obviously the "mistake" wasn't a mistake but rectifying a terrible wrong that was done to a majority on behalf of the preferential treatment of a fragile minority.

Oh wait, that sounds like some who shelter under the rainbow umbrella.

You dont suppose there might have been a false campaign saying those who only wanted to "chat" were in fact those who didn't want a feminist analysis of gender identity.

Might have been better to ask FWR itself what we thought before making an arrangement behind everyone's backs.

MNHQ aren't our editors or commissioners to presume to decide how what we say should be categorised,

I emailed the mods the other day. They are fixing it.

However, let’s make sure they restate the description of this board as being a feminist board. If you look on the feminist chat board, this board has lost the ‘feminist’ part in the description.

Feminist chat says:

A forum for feminist chat including modern feminism and feminism theory. See also our Feminism: sex & gender discussion board.

I reckon they just asked someone junior to write a bit of friendly blurb for both pages and that person was not really familiar with what the two topics were supposed to be about, or with the loooong, contentious history of fucking about with subtopics in FWR, so they just winged it.

Either that or they used AI 😂

Maybe whoever wrote those blurbs couldn't figure out what the difference was supposed to be. There seem to now be plenty of threads on the FC board which - according to the rationale for creating it - 'should' be on FWR and vv .

I never go on the other board, frankly I spend more than enough time on this one 😊 I've just been to have look and I'm struggling to see a difference. Just a few scolders whose usernames I don't recognise. But there are definitely 'terfy' threads over there.

You dont allow other people to define your politics and who you talk to.

Why are you saying this is how it should be, this is how it shouldn't be, here?

I reckon the junior is more in touch with the real world than those who imposed some arbitory segregation of who women should or shouldn't interact with.

If we were actually activists we wouldn't allow whoever we rented meetings rooms from to say, because they are renting the rooms to us, they are going to tell us which of our group should go in which room.

The splitting of the feminism into disconnected "topics" is highly reactionary, and does nothing to help understanding.

Surely nobody on FWR actually thinks this division reflects real life.

It didn't used to exist.

It was an external decision imposed on us.

It should be got rid of.

Or are there really those contributing to the falsely labelled FWR as "Sex and Gender" that this isn't feminism but some strange single issue topic that women randemly have ideas about rather than it being an integral part of a wide based forum about issues that impact on women.

Looks all fixed now on my phone. And they have returned the feminist to the sex and gender description from the feminist chat board. Whenever it was that I emailed it was ‘women’s rights’ with no mention of it being a feminist perspective.

Whatever possesed you to email them with out at least finding out what others thought. Or were you a school monitor.

It could have carried on with the description that was more apt, but for you taking it upon yourself - and as I say doing that without asking what anyone esle thought.

I emailed to find out what was happening. The mods told me there was an issue and they were fixing it. I asked if they were remerging the boards and got no reply.

Why did it require me to ask for opinions? I wasn’t fucking campaigning for anything, I was merely finding out what was happening and if it was being restated. And it was and seems to have been.

I don’t believe I needed to ask any opinions because I wasn’t asking for any changes. But sure, have a go at me for not asking your fucking permission to ask questions.

I take that back partly. Looks like they have modified the link back from feminist chat but not the description here. Sorry about the error.

Maybe they should just rebrand Sex and Gender as "Feminism" and Chat as "Meninism".

Or “Don’t Upset The Menz-ism”
