There's also the question of fitness to teach. Really do parents in Canada want people this delusional teaching their kids? I'd wonder what they were being taught - beyond the fact that an obvious male in obviously exaggerated and unreal fake breasts is literally a woman and has to be addressed as such.

If a teacher went around dressed as Ghandi or Stalin or Cleopatra and expected the kids to address them as such wouldn't their fitness to teach facts be called into question (safeguarding concerns aside)? I don't honestly see the difference.

Isnt that the problem thats being highlighted though?

Where are the school board (or whatever they are called) to step in and say, this is not appropriate, we dont have people self IDing, we dont call women men and vice versa.

BabyStopCryin · 11/09/2023 14:08

Fitness to teach? He’s in a flipping workshop!

When I’m working with machinery and blow torches I have to wear ‘correct clothing and shoes’, have my hair died up, not have floaty clothes or dangly sleeves.

Those fake ( fabric or plastic) boobs dangling all over the place is definitely against health and safety.

Is he still claiming womanhood if he's still being referred to as Lemieux? Just without the comedy breasts?

Somehow I don't think we've heard the end of this story. There will be more.

Lemieux is his last name. He used the first name Kayla while self IDing as a woman. Now he is back to using his legal name that he used before self ISing as a woman.

saffronsoup · 11/09/2023 15:44

The kis he taught were 9th grade and up - that is 14/15 year olds and older. They were not young children.

And the kids are being taught this self ID ideology in the school curriculum. He wasn't introducing it. Just embodying what was being taught in the curriculum to make a point. Anyone can self ID in Canada. Gender fluidity is accepted in the curriculum - you can change genders as often as you wish. There is nothing for him to apologize for. He could choose a new gender ID next year.

But it was making him unemployable and he made his point so he went back to self IDing as a man.

Why are you so keen to normalise what this jackass has done, and insist no one was harmed in the process?

HarrietJet · 11/09/2023 15:45

I am not normalizing it! What does that even mean in this context. There was nothing normal about it. But that was his point. When Canadian society says this is normal - he showed actually it isn't when you push that view of normal.

And Canadian teens are a lot more self aware and resilient than apparently those you know. They can handle a woman in pants with short air and flat chest who says she is non binary and they can handle a man with longer hair, a pink shirt and fake boobs who says he is a woman. The people complaining weren't even people with kids at that school. The ideology is already out there. I am sure many thought it was stupid or pointless or bizarre or weird or disgusting. BUt permanently psychologically scarred - no. Traumatized - no. Having seen the way the teens were talking about it in the leaked tiktoks, it was not overwhelming terror and psychological trauma that was coming through. I am sure they will carry on into adulthood and life without suffering and being unable to cope or manage in life because of the weird dude who taught shop class in 10th grade.

Do you have proof of this trauma and psychological scarring or are you another one who just wants kids to suffer and so you are desperately hoping some are traumatized to support your views? I think it is weird to want harm to come to children in the absence of any evidence of harm because you think it would support your own perspective if there were more traumatized teens.

What was his point then?

bellac11 · 11/09/2023 16:04

To push the limits of the self ID ideology and see if there was still support for what was being taught to students.

You say everyone has the right to self ID and express their gender in whatever way they want without question and they are to be accepted as they are - but if I push the envelope of that ideology, will you stand behind it and behind me?

I think they actually were able to fire him due to the shop safety issues - not his gender self ID.

People are pushing back in Canada. Just like the male weighlifting coach. When a transwoman started to set weighlifting records for Canadian women, the coach self ID'd as a woman, entered a competition and went and blew a couple records way out of the reach of transwoman. Basically, if a biological woman can't hold the record, then neither will a transwoman.

What unutterable bollocks 😳. Shame on you.
You are absolutely determined to insist no harm was done here, and insisting anyone who says there must have been is desperate to see traumatised children suffering is just too fucking bizarre to argue with.
Weirdo.

Weirdo.

You should reconsider your view about why you want children to experience trauma to support your view.

It is like saying there is a creepy guy on the street and then wanting children to have been abused so you can say - see, I told you so, I knew he was creepy.

Wanting and wishing harm on children to strengthen your point is not at all how I go about my life and I do find it bizarre and weird to care so little about otheres that you want harm to come to them so you can say see, I told you, look.

So he is anti this ideology?

He hasn't really made any public statements but there is quite a bit of evidence that that is the case if you read the accounts of people who know him and his political leaning and his past issues with the school board. And it fits with his turn it on, turn it off self IDing and gender expression, and the absurdity of his choices.

HarrietJet · 11/09/2023 16:33

Oh, stop ballsing on with this ridiculous nonsense, you absolute weirdo.
You're starting to really piss me off.
Yet I'll probably be deleted for this saying this, and you won't 🤷🏻‍♀️

bellac11 · 11/09/2023 16:36

I dont think its likely that the average 14/15 year old is going to have been traumatised by this.

Troubled, uncomfortable, amused, baffled, curious perhaps

The odd one or two having a stronger reaction perhaps.

CorruptedCauldron · 11/09/2023 16:38

@saffronsoup what the heck?!

I hope the children didn’t give a flying crap about this guy’s antics. I hope they all thought it was bloody hilarious. That’s far preferable than for a single one of them to be upset or traumatised.

But even if no one was harmed, the point still stands. It was still incredibly inappropriate, not to mention disruptive and an abuse of privilege and power to involve kids as unwitting props in his game. I’m shocked that you think anyone here would want children to suffer to support our theories. Shameful.

To be honest, I think I'd have been traumatised when presented with that travesty and being instructed to call him a woman.
Amusement wouldn't have got a look in. But then I'm not 15, I suppose...

BabyStopCryin · 11/09/2023 16:44

It’s the sinister ‘you will call this person Miss, you will not challenge them should they decide to enter the girls loos or changing rooms, this IS a woman and you cannot say/think otherwise’. This is what would traumatise men. The fear that these men can do whatever they like and we all have to pretend to go along. What next?

IcakethereforeIam · 11/09/2023 16:45

I can imagine 14/15 girls being massively embarrassed. I can imagine the name 'Kayla' being weaponised by 14/15 boys to fling at their female classmates. Small breasts, 'you're no Kayla' or larger breasts, 'you're like my teacher, Kayla'. He did what he did for his own selfish reasons.

saffronsoup · 11/09/2023 16:47

There are lots of trans kids in Canadian high schools. Kids are very used to having to call trans kids by their pronouns and referring to them by their preferred gender. There is zero chance this was the first person they encountered who was presenting as trans or who self id'd or dressed in non conforming ways. There are probably other trans / non binary / gender non conforming teachers in the school. The school I worked at had 25% of students identify as a gender other than their 'sex assigned at birth'. Social media is full of trans andnon binary and gender non conforming kids. It is normed in their world to have someone 'assigned male at birth' self ID as a female.

BabyStopCryin · 11/09/2023 16:51

So lads can don a pair of massive Gazza boobs under their uniform? That ok?

A quarter of kids at a secondary have decided they're a different gender? And no one suspects this might be socially contagious? Wow.

This stuff is being taught directly in the curriculum, and it's enforced around the way the kids interact with each other. Misgendering is an expulsion offence in most Canadian schools.

So we could ask about the fitness of the whole freaking institution to have kids under their care, really. And it's not like this is introducing the kids to something new.

I have to say, despite it all, it's probably done more than anything to make a lot of people aware what a shit show is going on with this stuff, and maybe showed some of the students what the logical outcome of the ideology they have embraced is.
