The momentum is growing.

Bump. Let's hope so..

HipTightOnions · 01/09/2023 22:03

Meanwhile SIMS (pupil database/register used by many schools), which already had a "pronouns" field, has just added "gender identity" and "pronouns to be used only at school".

Datun · 01/09/2023 22:05

Their letter explains: “That is, they cannot treat any child as if they are, as a matter of fact, a member of the opposite sex. Nor can they insist that the entire school community refers to any child as a member of the opposite sex.”

I mean , for fuck 's sake. This is how far we have strayed from reason.

And this is the problem. Rishi won't fucking step up to the plate and lay down the bloody law.

So in light of this advice, on his bloody head be it.

BonfireLady · 01/09/2023 23:27

Thanks for posting @JanesLittleGirl

It does indeed seem like the momentum is growing 👏

Bluetoesnewtoes · 01/09/2023 23:39

Rishi should start doing something if he wants our votes

Toseland · 01/09/2023 23:44

Where is the schools guidance?

Pumpernickles · 02/09/2023 08:26

I do like a good bit of common sense head slapping. Just wish someone sensible would lead the opposition.

HipTightOnions · 02/09/2023 08:36

I know, WarriorN. Shocking.

For those who missed it, a very good analysis of how this government have enabled the queer theorists to have unhindered access to children:

The Department of Education should learn this simple lesson…

I think my LEA must be miles ahead of the curve. We had new Transgender Guidance for Schools out last September, and it thanked Sex Matters, transgender trend and the safe schools alliance in the acknowledgements. And you can tell.

Sensible advice. Parents must be kept informed. No boys in girls loos or changing rooms or sports teams (or vise versa) no matter how they identify.

Sex and gender are different and mustn't be conflated; must encourage good relations between people of opposing views; cannot be compelled to use pronouns that might be counter intuitive, cannot be punished for not using the correct pronoun.

It even specifically states that we must not teach that trans women are women.

I don't know why we have such sensible guidance when no other LEA seems to, but I like to think it might have something to do with all the emails I sent my MP.....

But there is someone very gender critical in my LEA!!!!

RealityFan · 02/09/2023 08:49

Let me guess. There won't be enough parliamentary time in the last session to make this law, but it'll be dangled as a carrot to get the Tories re elected.

The King's Speech is coming up. Are we really saying that after 13-14 years of a CONSERVEative govt, with a majority of 80 since 2019, that Sunak could not have sorted this earlier, indeed won't sort it before the GE?

jeaux90 · 02/09/2023 08:54

@rabbitwoman that's brilliant someone needs to hold them up as the gold standard

ValancyRedfern · 02/09/2023 09:34

I shared your LEA'S excellent guidance with my slt @rabbitwoman . I'm not holding my breath though as my school say they are waiting for the government guidance, which will never come... At least I managed to make them not issue the god awful Stonewall style guidance they were about to unleash last September, there's been no sign of that since I kicked up a stink, which I count as a big win.

Where in the app? I've just had a look and although the app did list 'gender' rather than sex, there are only 2 options male or female. I'm asking as I would be happy to object of the is gender pronoun crap on the app

That's a pretty great win!!!!

I don't have the app but it's under "student details".

HipTightOnions · 02/09/2023 10:00

Sorry, that was a reply to TooTired.

HipTightOnions · 02/09/2023 10:03

TooTired, SIMS has reverted to sex (M/F) but now also includes "gender identity" plus the pronoun stuff.

Do you have the latest version?

This is brilliant. Agree with pp on gold standard

I’d love to see press on this spreading the word

Where is the schools guidance?

You probably meant this rhetorically but in case anyone is unsure, we’ve been waiting for it for years. Was promised ‘for the summer term’ (last term). Didn’t happen. Now we wait again, no date given. Utter shitshow.

It'll be offered by Sunak as a sop to vote for him next year. They really have no shame.

Boomboom22 · 02/09/2023 23:25

They need to hurry up. I'm getting somewhere, most slt agree with me, but they won't stop the ship without the new guidance and they certainly won't challenge other teachers who are all in, yet.

WarriorN · 03/09/2023 07:56

They really do as I know of one instance whereby Ofsted criticised a primary school as the children didn't know all the protected characteristics. I was told by a headteacher who knew via the head that it was specifically 'transgender' the children who'd been interviewed didn't know about.

Heads talk. Some Heads panic. That's how the mess evolves.
