So what actually happened? Did LGBA send a lawyer's letter to the pub company?

I imagine Stonegate's lawyers shat themselves when they looked into it.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 01/09/2023 13:51

Amazing news. Well done!

When a company realises what the actual law is, and not what the trans lobby would like it to be.

WorriedMutha · 01/09/2023 13:53

I would love to know what the back story is to this?

Apollo441 · 01/09/2023 13:58

So now if any lesbian group wants to hold a women only event they can book it in any Stonegate venue and no amount of screaming from TRA's can get it cancelled. That's a great result. Now let's make sure all other venues get the memo.
Also, absolute disgrace Stonewall wouldn't get involved and shows exactly why they are part of the problem.

Codlingmoths · 01/09/2023 14:08

wow, that is such great news and honestly a little surprising to see a company consult the law rather than their DEI execs who happen to focus on exclusion of particular groups and beliefs.

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 01/09/2023 14:09

Excellent news, thank you LGB Alliance and well done Jenny.

Bluetoesnewtoes · 01/09/2023 14:14

The Daily Mail was on this immediately, a full article complete with photos of sad face lesbian standing outside the pub she was no longer welcome in. I was thrilled to see the report.

desiringtoremainsane · 01/09/2023 14:36

I'm so happy about this outcome.

If there is one thing I have taken anything away reading these MN boards it's the inspiration of the incredibly strong, generous, witty and quietly steely women in this fight. Well done Jenny. She didn't ask for this fight and she didn't back down. Glad LGBA is there as backup.

Datun · 01/09/2023 14:38

What's also great about this is the LGBA's profile is being raised.

Any lesbian, or gay man, can call on them for help knowing their understanding of the law is second to none.

They are going to be seen as the go to people to defend LGB rights because Stonewall has been utterly ruined by transactivists. What a tragedy for a once highly respected charity.

I'll still never get my head around the concept that even though transgenderism directly undermines the very concept of homosexuality, people like Stonewall claim to represent them both simultaneously.

It's so basic!!

And means they can never, ever be interviewed publicly.

including the T has been catastrophic for Stonewall.

Right up to the point where they are furiously trying to shut down charities which support lesbians and gay men!

I can't wait for them to fade into obscurity as the LGB alliance takes up the vacancy.

SeulementUneFois · 01/09/2023 14:46

Great news!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 01/09/2023 15:07

Very good news. This is the result of the end of #nodebate that's been responsible for all the illegal demands of activists having gained such power.

Presumably they will need security as history tells us that this is another group of men who rarely take no for an answer?

The DEI execs can say what they want. No major chain wants to get sued for homophobia in a case they will 100% lose. As soon as an actual lawyer looks at this they will backtrack.

Remember there are single sex gay clubs/saunas for men all over the UK. No-one cares.

This is why we need to up our game. More events. More exposure.

The more we do the more the TRA side will get nasty and the more they are exposed.

IwantToRetire · 01/09/2023 16:34

Great the LGB Alliance are there and proving how much they are needed.

But also huge respect to Jenny Watson for standing up in the first place. Brave!

Love won! The UK's largest pub chain has decided that my lesbian speed-dating event can continue! This is a massive win for the legitimacy of women-only lesbian events & demonstrates that lobby groups' guidance to ban such events exposes businesses to legal challenge.

(Most comments so far seem to be positive!)

<Stands up and cheers> Bravo Jenny! And bravo the LGBA. This is exactly what we need you for.

RaininginDarling · 01/09/2023 16:47

Brava! This is great news. Unbelievable this had to be fought today but here we are.

GailBlancheViola · 01/09/2023 18:58

Have I missed the congratulations to Jenny and LGBA for opposing and reversing this blatant homophobia from Stonewall and LOJ? I am sure they have been fulsome in their praise, haven't they?

Sexnotgender · 01/09/2023 19:09

That’s great news.

RaininSummer · 01/09/2023 19:11

Glad to read this

MavisMcMinty · 01/09/2023 19:24

That’s great news, well done to Jenny and the LGBA!

AtrociousCircumstance · 01/09/2023 19:33

This is phenomenal. 👏🏼💪🏼

Bluetoesnewtoes · 01/09/2023 20:15

I wonder if LGBA will be able to hand out diversity brownie points the way that stonewall do, it would be nice if a disabled charity and sex matters were also the go to places for advice

Bluetoesnewtoes · 01/09/2023 20:17

I mean they are but it would be nice if stonewall was dropped and the other actual charities and non profits were consulted by businesses and the NHS and Government departments

FineganFineagain · 01/09/2023 20:23

Fab news!
