Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

For those who believe in Gender Identity over sex: why do you still need to believe in Men and Women at all?

One thing I do not get about Genderism is that they reject the belief that it's the physical body that makes a human a man or a woman, yet still believe some humans are men and some humans are women.

But if we hadn't had the example of two physical sexes, why would we have come up with the idea of Man-people and Woman-people in the first place?

I find it very weird that they can't or won't tell us what definition they use for Man, Woman etc ("it's a gotcha" , "blah blah blah" etc) yet demand such very specific provisions for Men and Women. How can they be so certain "trans women must use women's spaces/compete in women's sports" when without a definition of woman it's impossible to even explain why women need women only spaces or women only sports?

You are calling me a misogynist? That's rich indeed.

You offered to explain, I asked you nicely to do so. You've presumably already done the work so it should be incredibly easy to just give us these evidenced facts.

GailBlancheViola · 01/09/2023 23:06

It is, however, possible to change your body from one sex to the other, so that's what we do. It's simply a limitation of presently existing medical technology.

No, it isn't.

See? The presumptuous, demanding ones are always the one's it's not worth your time to bother with. Enjoy your delusions... :)

Nothing delusional about the inability of changing sex, it is impossible.

GailBlancheViola · 01/09/2023 23:09

What have I done or said that is misogynist?

You seem to think you are entitled to have a woman teach you a free class in Gender Studies simply cos you say so. You have been trying to gaslight me about what I said (hint: the word "reasonable" featured in what I said for a reason.) And finally you seem to believe you can make reality change simply by declaring it so. The last time I saw arrogance on that scale was one particularly misogynistic man who thought he could make my asthma go away by declaring it didn't exist.

So yeah, you are behaving remarkably like some of the most misogynistic men I have had the misfortune to encounter... :)

'We can't change the physical brain. It's simply not possible to change your body inventory from one gender to the other. It is, however, possible to change your body from one sex to the other, so that's what we do.'

Well, I admire your willingness to write this out.

ArabeIIaScott · 01/09/2023 23:21

May be worth googling 'brain plasticity'. It's considerably easier to change one's mind than it is to have extreme plastic surgery to attempt to mimic the opposite sex.

And there are no facts…which is interesting

You should try learning something about biology instead of making snippy comments, it will do you more good. I might even help you out if you can figure out how to be respectful.

It's very surprising that you assert people can change sex, @ancuruadh. Have you seen it done? As far as I'm aware, people can appear to be the opposite sex, with varying levels of medical & cosmetic intervention. But we're a long way off being able to convert a human's entire body composition to that of the opposite sex. Or any other large mammal's, for that matter.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 01/09/2023 23:22

I take that back

i didnt mean interesting….

Yes, that's why conversion therpy is such a success at "curing" all those gay people... Oh wait, that's not how it works at all...

"One thing I do not get about Genderism is that they reject the belief that it's the physical body that makes a human a man or a woman, yet still believe some humans are men and some humans are women"

Because a person's identity is not as clear cut as that. One thing I don't get is the rejection that a person's psychological self makes them male or female regardless of the body they were born into. The insistence on conformity to one or the other is astounding.

On the contrary, it's entirely routine. Any gender clinic can do it for you.

"Have you seen it done?"

Done it myself. :)

ArabeIIaScott · 01/09/2023 23:25

Astounding is about right. Another word I might use is 'depressing'.

Of course the nonsense being taught in schools and culturally is starting to sift through. Remember the BBC's 'hundred genders' nonsense? A generation has been raised to believe this crap.

We are now genuinely seeing people who think it's possible to change sex. This is a shift, again. Five minutes ago trans activists were claiming 'nobody is saying you actually change sex'.

Yet here we are.

Homosexuality is not a body plan / bodily integrity disorder! It's got nothing to do with the topic.

People with BIDs arising from injury do re-learn their body plan, and then do it again whenever they get a new type of prosthetic 🙂

And? It's been thoroughly proven by experiment that being trans is not a bodily integrity disorder and that it cannot be changed. Monsters like John Money have done absolutely horrific things trying to "change the mind" as you so glibly put it and the only result has been unimaginable suffering and incontrovertable proof that you cannot make trans people stop being trans. Why would you just ignore that, unless you want to torture and exterminate trans people, the way John Money wanted to?

Screamingabdabz · 01/09/2023 23:34

“See? Once you understand biology it is actually quite simple. :)”

How ironic. To ‘understand biology’ is to know that humans cannot change the sex. It is simple but you’re not quite there yet…🙄

I know this is difficult to accept, but high school biology class doesn't actually teach you everything there is to know about biology. Here's a good place for you to start: What are hormones and what do they do? Points for anyone who can answer that correctly... :)

GarlicGrace · 01/09/2023 23:37

Oh, @ancuruadh ...

Did nobody tell you the cells of your body haven't changed sex?
Have you grown gonads & reproductive organs that you weren't born with?

Biological sex affects everything: neurotransmitters & receptors; muscle, bone & blood composition; organ size; brain configuration; even skull thickness and more!

If your doctors told you you've changed sex - sue them 😞

RufustheFactualReindeer · 01/09/2023 23:38

you are deffo not wrong about this…

you are wrong about the ‘changing biological sex’ bit though

so not all bad news

Hold on - which of Money's abused subjects did you think he tried to stop being trans?

Ridiculousme · 01/09/2023 23:40

Acceptance and tolerance I guess. IDGAF about anyone other than are they decent to me or not. I’m not getting into the whataboutery than will barrage anyone who bites, so don’t bother.

There have been irrational and prejudiced positions against any minority you care to think of. This is just a new one. Inflammatory phrases like ‘forcing children into surgery’ ‘life threatening surgery’ et al just capitalise on very small numbers as do the ‘but rapists in our places’. Some gay men have murdered women or men. We don’t reject all of them. Some women kill babies and children, we don’t ban them from contact with children.

Carry on with your echo chamber, I’m not responding to the pack. I saw how people reacted to AIDS when it was first known.
