On twitter it's entitled "ex drag queen."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-66610787

Andrew Way, 61, of Clwyd Wen, Wrexham, admitted trying to engage in sexual communication with a child of 14 and had repeatedly breached a sexual harm prevention order.

The Reduxx article quoted him as saying in the online chat to who he believed was a 14 year old boy unsure about his sexuality that he’d like to “break him in.” That is absolutely horrifying and makes his intentions very clear.

He also previously has convictions for grooming online another person he thought was a teenage boy and had a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for it. Which broke repeatedly.

His behaviour demonstrates he is a recidivist offender, as so many of these men are.

I wonder if this thread will have the same fate as the Hayden ones? And if not, why not*?

  • We know why.

Another week, another reason to bring out my shocked face 😶

Wow. Moore’s death investigation concluded with no charges?

That leaves so many questions unanswered.

There was an inquest, although I haven't seen the verdict published - the inquest may have been adjourned till the end of the police investigation, I guess? Presumably the police closed their investigation because they concluded there is no evidence of a crime.

I don't think the death or police investigation are particularly odd - the investigation seems pretty normal for a youngish man found dead unexpectedly. What is beyond odd is the media coverage, given Moore's history.

Only person changing things is the BBC

I mean, it’s bloody obvious he’s a man, less so that he was a DQ. The additional info is in the public interest.

He was on Judge Rinder a while back - his company was called “Miss Gin and her Fantasy Boys”. Speaks volumes!

It really is to late to say he's sorry.

(Borrowed joke from a previous thread. Possibly a deleted thread but it wouldn't have been deleted for an 80s music reference so I'm pretty confident in using it again 🎶)

The whole story gets odder. The WalesOnline article about Donnavan is so odd and clumsily written. It really doesn’t make it clear that Darren Moore is a convicted paedophile

'...the deceased's husband Mr Moore said he felt "at the end of his tether" and said the posts made by Clarkson had "denigrated his husband's name". He added: "Referring to my late husband as a paedophile was particularly upsetting.'

Upsetting, maybe, but also accurate.

The article does mention:

'Mr Meah-Moore's 1999 conviction for four counts of raping a boy under the age of 16. Those historic offences had seen Mr Meah-Moore sent to a young offenders' institution for three years.'

But omits that he was further sanctioned for breaching his parole conditions, iirc?

If you mean this thread, it still stands! Got to love the surprise Kayley derail (and Marillion banger).

2008… comedians freely engage in non-PC banter about a pregnant trans man | Mumsnet

A clip has surfaced on social media of The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2008. Some big-name TV stars, including Dara O Briain, can be seen having a giggle...

https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/north-wales-drag-legend-reveals-17379575

'"Drag has changed over the years," he said.
"I am old school - comedy, singing, performing. Drag is getting younger and younger, and they haven’t had the experience they need.
"I went to theatre school, I trained in sword fighting, in makeup. They want to be a drag artist without the work.
"I envy them - don’t get me wrong, they’re fabulous, but you don’t need to swear or lip sync.
"You’re there to entertain and, trust me, it's hard work. It takes a long time."'

‘She’?!! We’re they using female pronouns?

In the snapshot of that article showing on the post the pronouns were she. Then within the article I’m seeing ‘he’. This is so confusing. Did they use female pronouns when dressed up I wonder 🤔

Ah, of course. Good work on Fish-ing that link out to quickly.

I'll stop now 😁

Helleofabore · 25/08/2023 15:16

In a twist that will surprise no one, BBC has made yet another change to their story!

They have removed the sentence below relating to organising pride.

"Way had also been organising the first-ever gay Pride event for Welshpool, Powys."

Helleofabore · 25/08/2023 15:17

This is a continuously diminishing BBC report....

BonfireLady · 25/08/2023 15:28

At this rate, the story will simply be "Man who lives in Wales is going to prison". Both as a headline and the main story.

Utterly shocking (but I'm not shocked) editorial gaslighting from the BBC.

BonfireLady · 25/08/2023 15:32

It gets worse.... The Tweet has gone.

Helleofabore · 25/08/2023 15:35

Well Bonfire, it cannot get much more diminished than being started to be deleted. I wonder if they will repost it? I doubt it.

BonfireLady · 25/08/2023 15:54

Indeed! Reduxx have noticed its deletion too now.

There is a very disingenuous update at the end of the cut down version now on the BBC site:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-66610787.amp

The details that were not reported in court are still facts in the public domain. He is/was (is) a drag queen who appears to have a certain amount of fame in this arena. Also he was organising a Pride event. His drag queen name and his photo are on the posters that were used to advertise it.

It is impossible to believe that the BBC is obligated to remove this publicly known information.

CorruptedCauldron · 25/08/2023 16:36

Once someone has been sentenced, you can report anything you like about them, it’s not contempt of court! You’re not going to prejudice a fair trial - because it’s all been wrapped up already. This guy was a former drag queen and Pride organiser and that info was in the public domain. Why hide it? I’m sure the BBC doesn’t hide information about former priests, Scout masters etc, who fall foul of the law.

BBC could do a lot of these stories. All identifying information stripped away.

Do they do this for priests, policemen, doctors and teachers convicted of paedophilia?

I mean, luckily memory holing the story won't be noticed by anyone.

Chersfrozenface · 04/09/2023 12:57

Well, from a county councillor for a ward in the town of Welshpool, so with a legitimate interest, I would say.

An Independent councillor, as it happens.

BonfireLady · 04/09/2023 23:12

Good to see this being picked up and reported on.
Hopefully the public will start to spot a pattern in the way that the BBC obfuscates its reporting on any "gender identity" (drag queen in this case - but drag queens are covered under the trans banner) related stories.

Wonder if he invited all his pals?

Good. I hope he holds their feet to the fire.
