US High School Transgender tennis coach

It was clear to the the girls that Yates is biologically male so you can imagine what was exposed. This video is long but there are testimonies from parents on both sides. I find it hard to understand the parents who condone this. The board voted last night as to whether this coach should be employed and the decision appears to have been deferred. This is utter madness. This male should be charged not reinstated.

There is never any reason that a coach or teacher would need to change alongside children whatever sex. Unsurprisingly this coach did trying to weirdly validate himself as a woman. How anyone can justify an adult putting these teenage girls in this position is beyond me

I have to wonder if that is really the case or if they’re just getting a lot of cheerleading because of the sacred-caste effect (like what happens when a TW posts a selfie to a female group.)

People who are, unbelievably, willing to defend this person’s behaviour in the changing rooms probably think nothing of exaggerating their coaching talents.

Yes that's what I'm trying to get my head around. All the parents who are gushing about this coach and see no risk of harm to their children. I'd like to know if they would also feel this liberal if it was a regular male exposing himself to girls and watching them undress. Is it because they truly believe Coach Yates is a harmless transwoman? Like others have said no adult male or female should be in the student's changing room.

Sadly, it reminds me of the women who will side with a rapist of DV perpetrator over his victim. Child abuse wouldn’t be so common if it wasn’t being minimised and the perps defended. I sometimes think that female victims would be better off with all male juries than females, since these kinds of women are so prevalent. Total denial. They don’t want to admit that men can be capable of it. Men are usually under no illusions about the darker side of their sex.

I don’t know what article you read, but the article I read says this:

In the fall of 2022, the tennis coach entered the girls’ locker room where the girls soccer team was changing. Mr. Yates changed his clothing too, stripping down to bra and panties, a school board member familiar with the situation told The Epoch Times, adding that students reported that it was clear from what they saw that Mr. Yates was still fully a man.
Two school board members have students on the soccer team and at least one of their students was present when this occurred, the board member said.
At that time, the school board decided not to rehire Mr. Yates. But when the name Sasha Yates was used in the next round of coach hirings, not everyone on the board recognized this as the same person.
During an April 12 softball game at Gettysburg Area High School, Steve Carbaugh’s 16-year old daughter went to use the girls bathroom. Mr. Yates soon followed, and the student found herself alone in the bathroom with the tennis coach. She told her father that Mr. Yates tried to strike up a conversation. The student texted her softball coach from the bathroom as it happened, Mr. Carbaugh told The Epoch Times.

Ok, excellent points, that is far worse than what I read! The one I read said this: "The conflict between Yates and the school board, according to those with knowledge of the matter, stems from which facilities she would be allowed to use post-transition.

This included an incident in the fall of 2022 in which Yates changed clothing in the girls locker room; Yates said that she did not fully disrobe, but did remove her top, according to those familiar.

This explanation is supported by a letter viewed by PennLive – dated from September of 2022 and addressed to Yates from Gettysburg High School’s principal – noting “concerns” that have been brought to the attention of the administration, and stressing to Yates that it is “imperative to maintain professional boundaries.”"

What I initially meant by transphobia is that if another member of staff had done that, they wouldn't have been sacked. But I'm now actually thinking, yes, they probably would be so why does this coach still have a job?

There's a common method by which the adults around a child are hoodwinked into trusting an abusive male. It's happened to my friend's parents and they were good people, not complicit at all. Just too trusting I guess.

I've been deleted on Mumsnet for referring to this method when the abusive male is trans. I think this does victims and their families a massive disservice and stops us looking at whether the wider environment encourages normal people to stop seeing evidence that is right before them.

Perhaps this is related to our society's issue with whistleblowers.

I think there was another incident in Apeil 23 where one of the girls walked in to find Yates undressed in the changing room. Also claims about Yates asking inappropriate details about periods and underwear.

This is why he hasn’t been sacked. It’s not explicit that the board are afraid of being sued for anti-trans discrimination but it sure seems like he’s using “trans” as a shield to get away with inappropriate behaviour towards teenage girls that would get anyone else fired.

Some on the school board wanted to fire Mr. Yates after the bathroom incident, but a solicitor convinced them that, with just a few tennis matches left in the season, it would be better to wait, and just not rehire Mr. Yates for the following season. The concern was, firing over the bathroom incident could position the board to be sued, a school board member told The Epoch Times.
But now that the new season is here, the solicitor has made the same warning, urging the board to rehire Mr. Yates to avoid the risk of litigation.

correcting myself- it’s not explicit on what basis they fear litigation, but that he is using “trans” as a shield is more than just an educated guess. He used his name change to get re-hired after the first inappropriate incident.
