Trans tennis coach used changing room alongside 16 year old students. It was clear to the the girls that Yates is biologically male so you can imagine what was exposed. This video is long but there are testimonies from parents on both sides. I find it hard to understand the parents who condone this.

The board voted last night as to whether this coach should be employed and the decision appears to have been deferred. This is utter madness. This male should be charged not reinstated.

His motivation reminds me of this scene in Personal Services. Except nowadays men don’t need to pay prostitutes to play out the fantasy.

What I initially meant by transphobia is that if another member of staff had done that, they wouldn't have been sacked. But I'm now actually thinking, yes, they probably would be so why does this coach still have a job?

Another male member of staff or female member of staff? Because any male in any state of undress in a girls' locker room certainly should be sacked.

Transphobia isn't the same as knowing that penises shouldn't be in girls' locker rooms while anyone at all is in any state of undress.

The article linked gives several incidents of inappropriate behaviour, conversations and use of a bathroom that caused distress - the coach followed a 16 yo girl into the bathroom and then engaged her in conversation - this points to a wider pattern of concerning behaviour

By definition any male using spaces where women and girls are undressed and vulnerable is a predator. Simply by entering those spaces he shows himself to be one.

The way the media report these cases, if they report them at all, is a huge problem. Idk what the "Epoch Times" which reported the sections I copy/pasted even is, but from the name alone it sounds pretty fringe. But non-fringe media, especially from the USA, nearly always puts a deceptive gloss on the facts when it comes to trans cases. What article did you read at first? Was it local press? I wonder if perhaps a lot of people at that meeting had read the same one.

Any adult in a position of authority should not be using the same changing areas, at the same time as children.

When I was a swimming instructor, if there were no staff changing areas, we had to (quite rightly!) wait poolside until all children were out of the changing rooms before we could use them, even if there were cubicles for use. This was for their safety and ours. My partner coaches football, he comes home to shower and change out of his kit.

There was no reason why this individual couldn’t have waited, changed at home or used staff changing areas.

At that time, the school board decided not to rehire Mr. Yates. But when the name Sasha Yates was used in the next round of coach hirings, not everyone on the board recognized this as the same person.

How do they manage to do a hire and not realise that they had

1. already hired and
2. had child safe guarding concerns and
3. effectively blacklisted the former employee

WTF was going on in the hire process that some simple prehire checks did not stop the rehire.

Because that is what the the parents need to be asking

This explanation is supported by a letter viewed by PennLive – dated from September of 2022 and addressed to Yates from Gettysburg High School’s principal – noting “concerns” that have been brought to the attention of the administration, and stressing to Yates that it is “imperative to maintain professional boundaries.”
The letter states that Gettysburg’s athletic director discussed the locker room usage with Yates, making it clear that changing near students “is not acceptable practice for a coach” and that more private locations for coaches to change were available.
The letter also states that allegations were made that Yates had asked students “about menstrual cycles and preferred underwear styles” - although Yates told administrators she did not recall asking such questions - and that she had engaged in a conversation with a parent about a medical procedure that the parent felt was inappropriate.

So even after this warning Yates mau have again been found using the student's changing room.

Likewise in every sports facility around me. It's unthinkable.

How on earth are parents not raging at this middle aged man stripping with their daughters, following them to the toilets and asking inappropriate questions? On what planet is this acceptable professional behaviour? It's insane.

I an genuinely embarrassed I didn't twig this. Of course no adult, coach or otherwise, should be changing with young people. It's a massive safeguarding fail, terrible judgement and it should lead to serious consequences.

Don't be embarrassed, be angry. The state of journalism is dreadful. Deliberately misleading and minimising.

Isn't that part of the strategy to muddy the waters and push the boundaries so to confuse our common senses/moral compass.

Thank you. I sat for a while and thought about my own school days and my children's school experiences. Not once can I remember a teacher, coach, instructor, Scouting leader or any adult ever taking off their clothes around children, God forbid using their changing rooms alongside them!!! I even asked DH and he said No, coaches don't do that.

So they should have been sacked immediately. As I said, it's a massive safeguarding fail and I'm still a bit embarrassed because I've done several rounds of safeguarding training in different organisations and I didn't see it.

If school officials can’t do anything to protect young girls from blatant predatory behaviour because “trans” and a good chunk of the public actually support that… is this already a new state religion in America?

Yes the fear of litigation and also the wrath of the powerful TRAs.

How about the families of those girls take legal action. They were exposed to an adult teacher more than once. Maybe if the victims start litigation attitudes may change.

It's a good case study showing how this operates. An adult male invades the privacy of the girls changing room, undresses, presumably watches the teenage girls undressing, makes them feel uncomfortable, on another occasion follows a lone girl into the toilets to the extent she fears for her safety and also inappropriately talks to girls about their periods.
The responsible adults who raise concerns are threatened and accused of transphobia by adults who believe he has the right to violate young women in this way.

It is frightening with the long term implications for the safety of women and girls being grim.

Is this individual now going to be able to restrain themselves from entering the student changing rooms/toilets? They were warned before and still carried on accessing this space.

There was a word for this sort of thing back in the good old days and it wasn't 'inclusivity'.

Even though I’ve been knocking around these boards for years and have read Barracker’s pronouns are rohypnol article, I still did a mental handbrake turn when I saw the Sheffield youth swimming competition volunteer’s ‘before’ photo.

If he wasn't a transwoman, just an old-fashioned man, would this have been allowed? No.

I honestly don't understand what is wrong with the people who support him and his abuse.
