So we're asking for it and our attacker walks free if we don't defend ourselves but we're fined if we do, marvellous

Soubriquet · 22/08/2023 10:07

Yep. Remember women, it’s all your fault

#bekind indeed.

lechiffre55 · 22/08/2023 10:21

Glad to see they are kicking up a fuss about this over there. The judge should be sacked. It would probably be a good idea to have a look through the judge's hard drive too. Another crime linked in the story is even more horrifying.

That comment is not on, @HallyQ No need to bring race or religion into this - Muslim countries are very far from being a single culture, and it's not as if there isn't plenty of misogyny and assault in the rest of the world.

ArabeIIaScott · 22/08/2023 10:35

That is an outrageous generalisation, HallyQ.

Love that she knocked him out I hope he learned something that day.

Disgusting that she was fined.

What a fabulous woman.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 22/08/2023 10:46

You are going to get yourself banned Hally.

This is outrageous but doesn't surprise me. It could well happen here as well.

mrshoho · 22/08/2023 10:48

Well done that woman. I'd happily contribute to pay her fine!

OutsideLookingOut · 22/08/2023 10:52

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I think it’s fine to hate a belief system/religion and you should be allowed to do so as long you don’t discriminate against the followers ie right to have an opinion and will fight for you to have that right.

This is crazy though. I hope the fine will be removed.

CantThinkOfANameAtAll · 22/08/2023 11:00

I can't read it. But will this bring about the old saying of "may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb*". I guess that's one way to ensure clearing the world of these abominations, saves the state having to look after them. What did the attacker get?

*: If you are going to be killed for stealing a lamb, then why not steal a sheep (which is bigger and more valuable)? In general, it means that if you are going to get the same punishment, you may as well commit the greater offence.

NotMeekNotObedient · 22/08/2023 11:02

Awful.
And yes, the linked story is also horrific.

q109times · 22/08/2023 11:03

Insanity. When will judges act fairly ffs? X

Whatsnewpussyhat · 22/08/2023 11:45

‘Of course, I have received negative comments, mostly from women who should be my biggest supporters, but sadly we are not all the same.’

This stood out to me.

caramac04 · 22/08/2023 11:58

What the hell is wrong with that judge????
I hope that if I were attacked I would knock out the attacker. I’d probably give him a good kick or two when he was down as well. What a monster I am.

ArabeIIaScott · 22/08/2023 12:03

Poor woman; and also brave woman!

A horrific decision, but I'm glad to hear that there's been pushback, from the public and from the government:

'Thousands of people, mostly women, took to the streets in larger cities in protest against sexual violence across the Balkan country in a sign of solidarity with Milica.
Prime minister Dritan Abazović even issued a statement about the court’s decision calling it ‘unfortunately devastating’.
He stressed: ‘I regret that such examples confirm how necessary we need changes in the judiciary and prosecutor’s office.’'

BettyFilous · 22/08/2023 12:38

€82 fine vs sexual assault and all that goes with that? No brainer. It’s still an appalling decision by the judge.

Helleofabore · 22/08/2023 13:37

What an amazing woman! She did brilliantly to defend herself at all. The judge punished her for being a victim. Apparently she should not have learned skills that she should never have had to deployed let alone learned to do it with just enough strength to get away … or something…. Really deplorable judgement .
