Well, I saw it here, Google says it was last year 🤷🏻‍♀️

SHahrar Ali is taking the Green party to court
WarriorN · 09/02/2024 12:06

Ah, February 1974 was the first general election the greens were involved in and they gained a few seats.

ArabeIIaScott · 09/02/2024 12:12

It's a mixed victory, though. Shahrar's speech is moving.

What anyone wants is for the party to come to its senses and act fairly. Lifelong members and activists are seeing it torn to shreds by these issues being so badly handled.

WarriorN · 09/02/2024 12:21

Yes.

My emoji is ironic but the damp squib weak sounding lone fading party blower in my head doesn't translate to mn.

ArabeIIaScott · 09/02/2024 12:23

I can hear it now, Warrior!

IcakethereforeIam · 09/02/2024 12:32

I'm hearing a sad trombone.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/02/2024 12:36

What an excellent birthday present, Green Party!

domineastronomy · 09/02/2024 12:37

Ha ha happy birthday!

WarriorN · 09/02/2024 12:43

IcakethereforeIam · 09/02/2024 12:32

I'm hearing a sad trombone.

I'm also getting tumble weeds and blowing wind.

And the sound of thumbs tapping in many Gp tra WhatsApp groups....

ArabeIIaScott · 09/02/2024 12:47

There is a lot of quiet about.

Ah well. Perhaps none of the other political parties have noticed what happened.

😁

I expect it's one of those Things They Don:t Want To Talk About

And I''m still without a quote button.

Isn't it at bottom left of the post, I think it's moved.

So it has. Thank you.

I still can't edit

😑

anyolddinosaur · 09/02/2024 13:33

Should encourage Emma Bateman, repeatedly expelling her must be unlawful discrimination. Green Party would be wise to settle that one promptly.

I cant offhand remember the other cases.

WarriorN · 09/02/2024 13:43

Dawn Furness

handskneesandbumpsadaisy · 09/02/2024 13:44

I'm not surprised the response is muted, unless you live in a Green political stronghold area lots of people will have no idea about internal GP politics.
I live in a Conservative heartland (our MP has a majority of about 20,000). In local elections quite a lot of people have been voting for the GP, thinking of it as a protest vote against their party of preference and to support environment issues. I don't think they would've voted for them if they'd looked a little closer and I'm not sure if the GP doesn't prefer it that way.

Chrysanthemum5 · 09/02/2024 13:48

I think in Scotland a lot of people are aware of how batshit the Scottish greens are because their leaders like to go on television and talk about their lunacy

BezMills · 09/02/2024 13:50

Our local GPEW candidate is all kinds of excellent. I'm making a solid guess she's TWAW Bekind, but I haven't specifically asked her nor researched in case someone else did. She's great on local matters and generally busting the chops of our 'looks busy, more interested in pockying in with the tory higher-ups and local rich lads than looking after his povvo constituents' Tory MP. Our constituency is being split in twain and I wouldn't mind her being one of the MPs (the local labour guy is also good, that's my dream team).

But I digress. The GPEW has really let themselves down here and they need to introspect.

handskneesandbumpsadaisy · 09/02/2024 13:52

Yes @Chrysanthemum5 I bet the situation in Scotland is very different!

WarriorN · 09/02/2024 13:52

Yes the Gp prefer that none of it is discussed publicly.

And in many ways I can see that it's ultimately damaging for the environmental votes. Which I'd rather it wasn't. At the same time a party that is supposedly based on science and social concerns should know what a woman is. And isn't.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 09/02/2024 14:05

Oddly the guardian don’t seem to have reported this anywhere 🤔

GCultra · 09/02/2024 14:22

Signalbox · 09/02/2024 10:37

I am concerned that if this is a procedural win it means that the GP can discriminate so long as they discriminate in the procedurally correct way.

Ah ok thanks for sharing.
This is what I was concerned about.
