This shows the arrest of a teenage autistic girl by about 5 police officers. From what I can make out it is for a 'hate' crime. She apparently said a police officer was a Lesbian. Her Nan is a lesbian - that police officer is like my Nan.

I cannot comprehend the mindset of these officers.

😂😂😂

She'll be off sick with stress for six months and when she comes back it'll be as gay gramps, call me Sir or you know what'll happen

I can’t decide if she should be suspended pending the investigation into her conduct or if she should be made to work the Saturday night shift in Leeds city centre.

Pretty sure every single tipsy bar hopper and nightclubber who claps eyes on her will loudly declare ‘It’s LESBIAN NANA!’

She’s famous now.

Makes the Police sound like vampires. Never give one permission to cross your threshold ✝️

I think WPC Lesley Nan was fuming at having to take the child home and gagging for some payback. She just needed an excuse, however pitiful. I'd say she was a disgrace to the uniform but, she is the uniform. That's what they're training and turning out.

Yes, I would agree. It felt very much a payback.

Lesbian Nan WPC will now undoubtedly claim she’s been unfairly bullied on SM and put in a claim for more hurty feelings and play the victim

If the person is in a dwelling and shouts threatening/abusive words to a person who is outside the dwelling - then that will be a section 5 offence.

The garden is not included as part of a dwelling. A dwelling has to be self-contained 'substantial' unit of accommodation - such as a house, boat, caravan etc

The 'power to enter' is a bit more complex. It will fall under s17 PACE. If its a summary offence (such as s5) then there is no power to enter. However s4 does have a power to enter, but there was no evidence of putting the cop in fear of violence in this case.

Unless of course the initial entry was consensual - in which the police will be lawfully on the premises.

DysonSpheres · 12/08/2023 02:55

The only thing I'll say (and it still wouldn't justify what happened next regardless) is we only have the mother's assertion that all the girl said was 'I think she's a Lesbian like Nana' perhaps something else was said. I am also wondering what pressures the officer was under before this incident because her reaction was so extreme. Do female officers feel respected and supported in WYP or feel under pressure to 'prove themselves' be as tough as the men etc?

Conservative youtubers in the US are spinning this video as an example of Europe's 'far liberal' policies soon to come to the U.S!! and why it's a good example of the importance to retain the 'right to bear arms' or the police will come after you for your speech...as if they aren't the most woke society. It's all 'see what happens when the citizenry has no right to bear weapons'

The irony of how much worse it could have been if our police forces were armed is lost on them, but, that said, I am dispassionately questioning whether there's some truth in the argument. It's not so easy for police to enter your home in the U.S. perhaps for that reason.

LesbianNana · 11/08/2023 22:39

The mob mentality of the other officers is also disturbing. Not one, not even one, stopped to ask “What the ever-loving fuck are we doing here? She said you…looked like her lesbian Nan?” (I’m mighty fine, might I add. She could do worse.) Even if they didn’t know upon arrival, they should have assessed the situation and used some common sense.

Yes this shows we're not just dealing with one rogue officer. It seems ingrained in whatever training they have gone through. And the section on 'common sense' appears to have been removed from standard police training. They are a fucking embarrassment. Quite honestly unless the girl was shouting threats of violence, this officer having escorted her safely home, should have just walked away. If the officer still felt violated by the words of a 16 year old she could report it.

Probably where are those human rights lawyers when a disabled person needs one?

I suspect they've already been in touch. Why do you assume otherwise?

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 10/08/2023 21:58

that woman was rendered so completely furious by being called a lesbian that she lost control

what the heck is going on? 'Lesbian' used to be an insult when I was at school, but I really thought we'd got past that

I think 'Nana Julie' should press charges of hate crime against that WPC. Imagine being so prejudiced against poor Nana Julie that you say it is a hate crime to be compared to her.

I don't think the girl was saying anything to the WPC who apparently thinks it is hateful to be compared to a lesbian like poor nana Julie. I think the girl allegedly made the comment to her mother when they were both inside their own house. And, the WPC (outside the house) allegedly overheard (or was listening into) their private conservation and rushed inside the house.

I’m going on a night out in Leeds next weekend for a friend’s 50th. I can’t see us making it to the clubs my young adult kids would die of embarrassment but I’m sure we will be tipsy bar hoppers. And all outraged by the police behaviour.

Those curry puns kormand respect.

Somanyquestionstoaskaboutthis · 12/08/2023 09:27

And that’s just brought it home to me. These are the police my kids are relying on when they go out in Leeds. That’s the most scary thing, if any of the things we worry about such as spiking, mugging, assault happens to my kids in the early hours, this is who would be “helping” them.

There are still three young women missing in West Yorkshire according to the news.
"Leah, Grace, and Olivia were last seen shopping in Trinity Centre in Leeds around 5pm on Thursday, August 10. The trio, who have links to Pontefract, York, Selby, and Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire have not been seen since"

NanGate wouldn't give you much confidence in WY's policing abilities if you were their parents.

WYP shared NYP post about the missing girls n their fb page and managed to miss one of the girls out. When I saw it yesterday there were several comments on it about girls not being able to trust WYP any more after lesbian nana.
