Helen Lewis strikes me as a Labour cheerleader. She did an interview on R4 PM saying much the same. In effect: all over, nothing to see, stop asking Kier what a woman is.

Still a lot of Labour politicians are TWAW. Eg, Kier Mather has got another 40-50 years ahead of him.

The problem is far bigger than the Labour party pretending they have rejected Self Id. As mentioned above this ideology has embeded itself in organisations and institutions, where it is now busily reproducing itself.

The Labour Party just want the problem to go away. They will allow single sex spaces but will not lift a finger against those who will eradicate them.

Thinking ahead to when the genderborg is finally defeated. Can we nominate Maya Forstatter for beatification? Does she have to be dead first? She certainly performed a miracle.

It is not up to the Labour party to " allow" single sex spaces, though. Single sex spaces are already protected in the EA. What is needed is for the category of sex to be made far clearer - that it means biological sex. Labour will evade and avoid this, though - as you suggest.

For starters!

St Maya of WORIADS, the law is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed are the fruits of thy labours

'Trans' simply wasn't a thing when i was teaching 13 years ago; but now my daughter is teaching and it is in every school. Some schools will be more formally aligned than others, but in every school there are activist teachers pushing this stuff - and creating an atmosphere in which critical or questioning pupils are fearful of being open or honest about it.

It has silently becoem a new orthodoxy; and institutional reflex - and even if you don't believe in it you are expected to go along with it.

That's chilling, @RebelliousCow . There's a hell of a long way to go.

This.

A combination of

"There must be single sex spaces (and men can be any sex they like)"

and

"Well in THEORY you can have single sex spaces (and we won't look at or do anything about the bullying, harassment and targeted elimination of any service or resource that tries to provide this to women)"

Which has been what has successfully eradicated inclusive, accessible provision for women thus far.

And yes, if they think this is going to go away, they have another think coming. The evidence and disasters are stacking up, frequently. The legal cases keep on coming. The general public are getting steadily more aware. And eventually there will be a scandal that they are stuck carrying the can for if they are not very careful.

duc748 · 10/08/2023 12:57

There's the paradox; as more and more organisations and political parties get captured, the Great British Public out there is getting steadily more and more annoyed about the lunacies of the Borg. Thanks in no small degree, it pains me to say, through gritted teeth, to the likes of the Daily Mail. Perhaps a case of, "If there is hope, it lies in the proles"?

I like Helen and she's had a lot of abuse/targeting for "cancellation" just because of her fairly mildly GC beliefs, but she's always been tru trans.

Musomama1 · 10/08/2023 13:39

I don't think so. People (women) are still being coerced into saying that some women have a penis to avoid upset.

It's also entrenched in so many institutions.

A lot of wins but it's not over sadly.

I find her irritatingly fence-sitting on this. Towards the end she talks about the need for Democrats to listen to de-transitioners and Republicans to listen to trans people, and that way we'll all find a happy middle road. But why do we need a middle road? How can there be a middle road between allowing surgeons to cut off the breasts off teenage girls and not allowing them? How can there be a middle road between pretending that men can be women - and hence allowing them into women's prisons and changing rooms - and not pretending? It's just silly.

imed · 10/08/2023 17:16

Well it's pretty much over in my daughter's school.
The 'special' ones are increasingly reverting to their birth names.
From a high of around 15 there's now less than half a dozen.

imed · 10/08/2023 17:17

In her year group that is ( single sex school)

That is the bit that worries me. That some bekindliberalhaventthoughtitthroughcositdoesntaffectme types will decide the 'middle ground' is, ok, we ban medical transition for under 18s and here's women's rights/spaces on toast as a consolation prize.

They've seen trans and nb kids being endlessly pandered to at school

I mean you said it, here.

I'm very, very glad that your kids are too sensible for this harmful nonsense but they have no power or influence. They won't have any power or influence over the world of education for a very long time, if ever (in all likelihood depending on their career path etc). I'm sorry if that sounds harsh. And they aren't in agreement with the majority of teens either, at least not as yet.

Meanwhile more and more teachers are turning towards this ideology and becoming convinced of it, the ones who simply weren't aware of it before, including experienced leadership staff. We are all getting "trained" on it. New teachers getting trained in teaching with this brand of EDI interwoven into all their practice. Diehard converts getting promoted into senior roles.

Thanks for your reply! That is depressing.
