Anyone else noticed that Mumsnet now seems to be in partnership with Innocent Drinks?

I've just been getting a load of ads for some new lego toy. If it's just pop up/banner ads, it might be cookies. You click on one link and you're haunted by them for weeks.

I'm not bothered if money from Innocent is helping to keep MN going. Frankly it's the least they can do.

PatatiPatatras · 04/08/2023 20:54

Err... no but that's like saying MN needs money to survive... duh... what's your point?

TheLemon · 04/08/2023 21:34

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Innocent Drinks have been very anti-feminist in the past and is very pro-Mermaids:

Twitter row: Innocent Drinks unfollows woman amid 'transphobia' claims www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-55904239

www.hrmagazine.co.uk/content/news/innocent-backlash-should-companies-take-a-stance-on-social-issues/

I have no issue with Mumsnet working with advertisers but I'm wondering who on both sides thought this partnership was a good idea.

Ok, MN is a business. If they decided not to take adverts from any business that they deemed "woke" 🙄 trans wise they'd be fucked lol

nauticant · 04/08/2023 23:20

I assumed OP's point was that super-woke Innocent are currently working with MN, possibly the most evil presence there's ever been on the Web.

WhiskersPete · 04/08/2023 23:38

Innocent drinks are owned by Coca Cola

AnneWhittle · 04/08/2023 23:45

Innocent drinks are full of sugar

AlisonDonut · 04/08/2023 23:47

One of Mumsnet's directors is also a director of the Good Laugh (law) Project.

RealityFan · 04/08/2023 23:48

Someone tell Hope Not Hate, fast!

Now...do HNH tell people to support Innocent because they've supported fragile Team Teen Trans?

Or do they tell people to boycott Innocent because they're dancing with the Devil?

I mean, it's quite the dilemma.

You could say with MN being the Devil, they're on the horns of a dilemma.

Evidence of catastrophically poor judgment

IcakethereforeIam · 04/08/2023 23:50

I've still not seen any Innocent ads. Currently Hey Duggee live show.

Perhaps Innocent didn’t realise that MN is the Terven Coven. In which case they will soon find out as TRAs threaten to boycott. They can’t blame this one on the woke intern.

Or they do realise and it is a deliberate decision. Don’t Coca Cola own Costa as well? Mums have purchasing power, or at least some do, to buy expensive sugar laden fruit drinks for their kids and meet friends in coffee shops. Links with Mermaids and cartoon characters with mastectomy scars are tarnishing their brands. Woke is not making money. So instead why not try to appeal to the Terven directly. Pity all our spare change has been allocated to fundraisers. Overpriced smoothies are so turn of the century.

TheLemon · 05/08/2023 08:21

Mine was an email "sent in partnership with" (see screenshot).

Yes, absolutely, that's exactly what I was talking about. I've been avoiding them ever since!

Its not just boycotting. I don’t know what marketing people call is but some products scream nice middle class living. Feel smug whilst shopping in Waitrose or M&S, asking co-workers if they watched a current affairs programme on BBC 2, listened to R4 that morning, or read something interesting in the Guardian, casually mentioning your student days at Oxford or Bristol, loading your shopping trolley with Innocent smoothies or meeting with friends in Costa. Such are the joys of disposable income.

None now offer that certainty, that hint of luxury, that added advantage. Why pay more when you can go to Lidl. The Times may not offer the same left leaning credentials but no one will question your sense of reality. You are more selective about theatre choice, preferring to be challenged rather than be lectured to, and preferable with some decent single sex loos. London Universities may mean grungier living and dominated by overseas students but you are relieved the DC will be taking relatively future proof subjects away from the wokery, whilst those little treats like smoothies have lost their aura and you realise that at the motorway service station, Greggs coffee is just as good (and might come in a deal along with yum yums). Just as well really, given few of us can afford our pre lockdown life style.

RealityFan · 05/08/2023 10:30

I was an Innocent buyer, back in the day. I quite liked the owner, until I found out he shafted small outlets as badly as Tesco shafted their small suppliers.

I realised then, his joky anecdotal platitudes on the side of the cartons couldn't be taken at face value, they were pure marketing. And for a while they worked, that homely and self deprecating brand signature certainly succeeded with me.

Today? Like Ben And Jerry's, I wouldn't touch them if my life depended on it.

And Innocent sponsoring MN? The forum here should leave things as they are, this truly highlights the hypocrisy of woke capitalism.

The wokies would say MN is the font of all anti trans hatred, just how can Innocent spend blood money this way? Don't they know how many trans teens have killed themselves all the while hate sponsored smoothies are glugged with zero conscience?

LetMeEnfoldYou · 05/08/2023 10:35

I had some interaction with Innocent and they were the most unpleasant arrogant dicks imaginable. That twee shite is pure marketing wank.

Igmum · 05/08/2023 11:04

Given that it's Innocent funding our Terven ramblings I'm not worried (if we were asked to fund them now...)

Babdoc · 05/08/2023 11:09

I am delighted that Innocent are funding our terven hive while we boycott their products. Poetic justice, I feel, after their disgraceful past behaviour.

RealityFan · 05/08/2023 11:11

"Bud Light, Nike, Maybelline, Target, sponsor the Mumsnet Awards ceremony for crappiest, most hypocritical, most sick making virtue signalling brands".

Ourladycheesusedatum · 05/08/2023 11:13

Pretty sure I've been boycotting them since 2018? Dont remember why ( the joys of menopause )

But if they want to help fund terven discourse, who am I to prevent them.
Still wont buy it.

Really hoping the bud light boycott brings some sense to companies soon.

Mochudubh · 05/08/2023 11:21

@Needmoresleep Wait, what? Greggs do yum yums? I don't think I've seen a yum yum in the wild south of the Central Belt.

misses point of thread.

Needmoresleep · 05/08/2023 12:02

A small step for the dessert world, a big step for mankind, and the extraordinary taste of the Greggs Yum Yum is powerful enough to change the world.

(From their website description. Often packaged as part of a surprisingly cheap meal deal with their not-to-bad coffee. Who needs Starbucks or Costa.)

I always guessed that would be the case. The tweeness brings me out in hives.
