Do you wear any "Rad Fem"-identifying clothes or accessories?

I was on a bus the other day and sailed past a woman vulva-owner with an Adult Human Female T-shirt on. I almost strained my neck to get a good look at her and nearly broke my face with how much it made me smile.

But I also, ridiculously, thought what a brave person.

I've never seen any "Rad Fem" clothes or accessories out in the wild. I was in a meeting with a woman who wore Venus symbol earrings a few months ago and I got very excited that it was "I believe in two sexes" code. But her Twitter confirms otherwise 🙄

Have you ever seen any out in the wild? If so, what did you feel? What did you do? Do you wear clothes/accessories that might identify you as a biology-believer?

I'd love an AHF T-shirt for working out.

Not rad fem but I had a t-shirt printed, navy with a circle of gold stars and 48%.... I think it was too subtle. Didn't get any rise from the 52%. Now searching for an XX tee on t'internet... Although I LOVE a mother's place is in the resistance..

I have various t-shirts: Fair Play For Women (from the GRA consultation campaign), ManFriday and AHF. I don't wear them anymore because I grew out of them sideways Blush I only got good comments when out and about in them unless actively campaigning.

I have a purple, white and green lanyard - but that’s not really rad fem. So far no-one has challenged me ( let them try…), although I’ve had a few knowing smiles, and I figure that it balances out the rainbow lanyards worn by the special alphabet people.

AHF pink brolly with black writing. Loving this wet weather Grin

I was out with my mum one day, maybe a year ago now, in a busy town in the south east, we were walking slowly past a woman sitting on a bench, outside some shops, when I noticed she was wearing a purple, white and green scarf. I called out 'I like your scarf', she replied 'do you know what it is' and I said 'oh yes'. She told me she was proud to be a terf, I asked if she was on MN and she said she was! I felt proud of her. Also, as you state OP, I felt she was so brave, then later wondered at the ridiculousness of feeling that way.

Fabulous. I hope she's here!

I've got a beautiful wool tartan scarf in people green and white from my lovely MIL and quite often get smiles and winks from women when I wear it.
I also have a t-shirt that says my pronouns are like my oppression, sex based , I don't tend to wear it out much other than to the gym, but I do wear it when gardening and therefore ad hoc garden centre and B&Q visits.
Currently eyeing up an "I incite this meeting to rebellion" t-shirt to wear to work but might get in trouble for that... My boss is pretty decent though and my values are well known.

Discovered yesterday what a coward I am. Colleague and I talking about books and I mentioned listening to HP on audiobook. He said 'oh I used to love Potter but JK Rowling has ruined THAT for me'

I just grimaced and said nothing.

What should I have said?

I don't think I can do this openly, it's genuinely terrifying.

UndercoverCop · 28/07/2023 12:16

@Shufflebumnessie I love that it's MILs doing this, that's where I got my scarf!

Swashbuckled · 28/07/2023 12:25

@SirChenjins

"the special alphabet people". That is wonderful! Thank you; I shall seek to remember this phrase and bring it into many conversations 🤣

SirChenjins · 28/07/2023 12:33

@Swashbuckled I can’t take any credit for this - a wider woman than me used the term previously on MN and I loved it so much I use it whenever I can!

SirChenjins · 28/07/2023 12:33

wiser even!

Swashbuckled · 28/07/2023 12:35

@SirChenjins
I shall do the same 😊

An adult human female tshirt and dinosaur Converse.
I wear them all the time and have only had positive comments.

WhatDoesTheDogThink · 28/07/2023 12:48

I have a ‘Cis My arse’ t shirt that I wear out. I’ve had a few women and one man tell me that they like my t shirt/make positive comments.

ehb102 · 28/07/2023 12:59

I have a green, white and violet lanyard for my football whistle. Keep women's sports for women!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 28/07/2023 13:04

I saw mention of a "they burned women and not witches" T-Shirt.

Anyone got a link?

ILikeDungs · 28/07/2023 13:13

I wore my "Woman is not a dirty word" t-shirt by Birdy Rose to my local, and a staff member at the bar called out "LOVE that t-shirt!!"

Francesgumm · 28/07/2023 13:15

I have a couple of black AHF t-shirts, a AHF hoodie, a female period t-shirt, a femalist tshirt and a suffragette winter scarf all from KJK’s store.
I wear my AHF T-shirts all the time really around town , shopping etc - last weekend a youngish chap said ‘I like your tshirt’ and nodded knowingly at me.
I do a musical hobby where I don’t wear my T-shirts as there are a couple of trans supporting people (based on fb posts) and I suppose I feel worried of offense, and don’t particularly want to get into it there - although I will wear suffragette colours.

SirVixofVixHall · 28/07/2023 13:17

I have suffragette jewellery from Dinny Hall, which nobody has noticed, and Harry Potter themed pants which only get seen by DH and daughters! I don’t really wear T shirts which rules out statements.

TheFeistyFeminist · 28/07/2023 13:22

I have a votes for women badge and a sisterhood badge, both in our colours. I have a couple of bits of art deco style jewellery, in the colours.

I want to be more bold, but it's difficult. I do like to have a bit of Harry Potter / Hogwarts stuff eg on my desk. Happy to rave about how brilliant JKR is.

BelleHend · 28/07/2023 13:39

I think I might invest in a T-shirt of some kind and wear it for working out.

My work-outs are one-on-one boxing sessions in my local park with a cruiser weight fighter. I doubt many people would dare comment negatively 😅

Kindofcrunchy · 28/07/2023 14:08

Those with subtle suffragette jewellery / accessories, where did you get them? I'm not brave enough to flaunt a slogan tshirt but would be happy to wear the colours.

StopStartStop · 28/07/2023 14:16

CurlewKate · 27/07/2023 16:48

I do wish TERF and radical feminist hadn't become synonyms. There is sooooo much for radical feminists still to do, but we've become completely sidetracked by the trans issues😢

Oh dear. I'm sorry. You're happy to witness the erasure of women while you busy yourself with 'so much'.

ArabeIIaScott · 28/07/2023 14:25

StopStartStop · 28/07/2023 14:16

Oh dear. I'm sorry. You're happy to witness the erasure of women while you busy yourself with 'so much'.

I can sympathise, though. Lots of people are being pushed into 'rad fem' space that aren't rad fems.

While I respect rad fem ideas and have learned a lot, it must be frustrating to have people use your term and name while not having an agreement on the principles or even awareness or knowledge of the history of rad fem thought.

And the pp never said she was happy to witness the erasure of women.
