Not right to say only women have a cervix, says Starmer

Given Labour's appearance of a tenative attempt to U turn on the gender and trans debate ( although I have significant supicion about their motives, beliefs, and their actions when they win ), will Starmer have to rollback on his statement "Not right to say only women have a cervix" given he recently said women are adult human females. The two statment contradict each other, only one can be true.

I worry that Starmer's solution is that males can change sex and become female, destroying single sex spaces. He's just not saying this out loud.

Trans and gender diverse flag

Labour conference: Not right to say only women have a cervix, says Starmer

The Labour leader calls for "mature, respectful debate" over trans rights after MP's comments.

@AP5Diva - nobody says violence is a male-only crime. But we do say that most violence is committed by males because this is true.

If Joss Prior were to be arrested because of that threatening Tweet, that would indeed be a joy to behold.

I’m sure you know that some women are violent (like Joss), but I have seen a few posters get all lyrical and shit about how peaceful and nonviolent women always are and how there’d be no war or crime if we ruled the world. My comment was more for those extremists than the general reasonable poster like yourself.

FixTheBone · 28/07/2023 09:58

Labour's 'motives and beliefs' are exactly the same as all of the other parties - they'll say what they think will get them the most votes.

Starmer's only mistake (from their point of view) was saying something controversial without testing it properly in-front of a focus group first, meaning they now have to roll back on it.

Trying to pin one party or another to subscribing to a particular ideology on the gender debate is about as sensible as trying to pin them to a religion, or even a philosophy on taxation - their stance will change in line with whatever public opinion dictates.

There are some I trust on this. Those that speak up when it’s not in fashion

Kemi Badenoch and Rosie Duffield

Plus all those MPs who spoke up at the WM debate

They speak up whilst Starmer flails

Maybe they should take over their respective parties and we’d be grand

Helleofabore · 28/07/2023 10:28

er. No….. Women are not violent like Joss. Joss is male and continues to be male with every single utterance.

Joss simply adds further legitimacy to just how far Male violence against women and girls has gone. That the violence written by such a male individual goes unacknowledged because Joss belongs to a special group is a significant part of the issue.

lechiffre55 · 28/07/2023 10:45

@Helleofabore
That stuck in my craw as I read it too, but it didn't make sense, until I re read it to mean Joss also knows some women are violent, as opposed to women are violent just like Joss. Maybe I'm being overy kind in my interpretation, but it made more sense to me to read it that way.

Starmer knows what a cervix is.
Starmer knows who has them.
Starmer knows what a woman is.
Starmer knows who isn't a woman.
But most importantly for him...
Starmer knows what his party believes.

Sorry slightly off topic but Joss Prior’s meltdown on Labour’s policy shift is a joy to behold.

So presumably this Joss fella isn't one of the 'TW are female' type of trans?

Has India "I am female, I am' made any comment?

CorruptedCauldron · 27/07/2023 13:21

Questions for Starmer:

  1. You recently stated it was wrong to say that only women have a cervix. Do you still stand by that?
  2. You now say a woman is an adult female. Does your definition of female include males who identify as females?
  3. What is a safe space? Is it the same as a single-sex space?
  4. Will you apologise to Rosie Duffield for failing to protect her from a torrent of abuse over her gender-critical views, despite the fact her beliefs are worthy of respect in a democratic society?
  5. Will you step back from Stonewall and stop it influencing policy?
  6. Will you keep gender ideology out of the classroom, ensuring no child is ever told they might have been born in the wrong body?

That’s just for starters.

Those are great questions. Exactly what any journalist worth their salt should be asking. On Newsnight or whatever. I want to see all Labour's big hitters asked that.

caringcarer · 28/07/2023 11:27

HagoftheNorth · 27/07/2023 12:31

Yep, that’s my interpretation, women are adult females, and females are anyone who says they are. Have you noticed how quickly a certain group of men expanded from claiming ‘women’ to claiming ‘female’?

Sorry Kier, I won’t believe you support women you make that crystal clear - you have too much history of supporting men in women’s spaces. Oh, and apologise to Rosie Duffield

This. Starlmer is a weaselly worded slime ball. He will say whatever to get himself elected. Unfortunately none of the current leaders are electable. I wish all parties who have a vote among members on who should be leader. Rosie would be a much better choice.

I see todays Instagram offering from Starmer is all about how much he loves playing football. I think he’s given up trying to get the women’s vote and he’s going after the men’s vote.

Hilarious 🤣🤣🤣 I can't imagine him running up and down kicking a ball.

Well, with any luck some journo will challenge him to a kickabout and either he'll accept and make an ass of himself, or more likely his minders will stymie that idea and he'll look like a wuss, all mouth and no football boots.

I've got a cat like that. He was being his true and authentic elephant self all over my head at ten to five this morning. The bastard, being species fluid, is now expressing his inner sloth on the sofa.

Pmsl 🤣 🤣 🤣

Sausagenbacon · 28/07/2023 11:39

I'm waiting to see Posie Parker give him a kickabout at the hustings.

Gettingbysomehow · 28/07/2023 11:40

Lots of people want to be women but they are not. Its about time this was recognised instead of teaching children fake biology.

100 agree.

Circumferences · 28/07/2023 11:51

Everyone knows it's impossible to be female if you're a TW.
Surely that's the entire point of trans ideology. That your gender doesn't match your sex.
So if your gender doesn't match your sex, but you're trans, but you're (supposedly) a female woman who's female, how on earth are you trans then?

I remember IW claiming to be a cis-woman and thinking riiiiiiight...... Suuuuuuuure because they're entire USP is being trans.

It's off the scale antagonistic and sociopathic basically. Just fuck off, basically.

Yes I think that nails it.

Will he announce that all women short lists are only for 'biological women'. ?

Or that “women’s officers” in the party and affiliated groups should be women?

And Starmer is becoming increasingly aware of what many traditional Labour voters believe about who women are, and more importantly, who they bloody aren’t.

Or they could all just say they identify as women and we would have the first all women opposition political party in history. Amazing!
