@CorruptedCauldron (and less directly @FrancescaContini) I've no reason to suppose that there's any trans dimension to this story, was just mentioning terfs as one of the groups out there who are anti-kink & right-leaning and likely to run with this story.
I can elaborate on the "terf rhetoric is often anti-kink" aspect if you'd like, though I'm hoping that bit is not too controversial. As for terf ideology being a right-wing position I must admit to some surprise at the objections here, because to me terf advocacy was fairly obviously feminism repacked into a more right-friendly format. After all, by placing such a heavy emphasis on trans women as the most pressing contemporary "problem" terf figures and groups downplay or avoid feminist theories that focus on topics that make rightwingers uncomfortable - these include intersectional feminism, queer feminism, sex positive feminism, marxist feminist economics and feminist postcolonialism. Indeed many terfs openly disparage these forms of feminism. I'm sure there are individual terfs who think of themselves as lefties and say they care about these wider topics in theory, but in practice from terfs the anti-trans stuff tends to take centre stage.
The other aspect of course that makes the terf position a right-wing one is the fluid boundary between their membership and right-wing groups with whom they share a scapegoat. These include the politics of many centre-right or hard-right ruling political parties, rightwing media groups, religious conservatives, ethno-nationalists/neo-nazis and conspiracists.
@StaunchMomma Yep, that sounds pretty equivalent to me. Sorry if I gave any confusion - didn't mean to imply that I thought the individual in this case was queer or that latexwear wasn't for straight/cis/vanilla people too!
