I've had yet another account banned from all of Reddit for arguing against the trans propaganda. For comments made on the "Change My View" forum of all places.

Thinking about creating a new account to continue the argument but this censorship has got me so annoyed. Am I just wasting my time trying to convince strangers on social media?

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

@Stephannee thank you for sharing that post, it's always uplifting to see people pushing back against ableist nonsense like "born in the wrong body". Much appreciated, please post more like this!

Mothew · 06/10/2023 13:14

r/libsofsocialmedia has also been banned unfortunately. It was like the voice of reason amongst all the teenage incel TRA nonsense <sigh>.
I've also been banned/muted several times, but I do like quite a few subreddits for info and laughs and have learned it's utterly pointless trying to put my point of view across. I was however given an award for one of my comments that led to a ban so I know we're not alone Smile

Well the OP and just about all 138 comments they received are all in disagreement with the man's actions.

The top comment with most upvotes is "It’s hard for me to wrap my head around why anyone would give a how other people want to present themselves."

SweetHomeAlabaster · 06/10/2023 13:55

@Stephannee yes it's quite interesting to see how worked up the commenters got about a man walking his dog while enjoying his stickering hobby. Must have been a slow news day on that sub.

Stephannee · 06/10/2023 16:17

Accept it, Reddit isn't a "gender critical" website and the admins and vast majority of the user base just don't want people with "gender critical" views there.

Accept it, 'gender critical' beliefs are protected in law and discriminating against women who hold them is against the law.

Is Reddit governed by UK law?

ArabeIIaScott · 06/10/2023 16:30

I don't know. I guess we will find out.

SweetHomeAlabaster · 06/10/2023 16:33

@Stephannee maybe, it depends on which part of the site you look at. I'm currently browsing through the comments of this post and it's lovely to see just how many reasonable people are explaining to the ignorant why sports need to be segregated by sex, and the harm it does to women when they're not.

Which doesn't matter either way because the Gender Critical sub was banned for "promoting hate".

One can believe anything they want but they can't promote hate.

" and discriminating against women who hold them is against the law."

Only women who hold them? Poor Glin Glin will be feeling left out.

I think reddit is on its way out anyway, I don't peruse the bot filled main page but the subreddedits I do follow are slow as hell lately. Sure as shit something else will come along. It will soon be bots and scolds wanking each other off about how oh so right on they are.

Well yes, but if we look at some Reddit moderators like Challenor, they are hardly reliable judges of what “promoting hate” means are they?

Given your username, might we assume you have similar tastes?

Depends how you define 'hate'.

Some people try to say that a woman calling her rapist 'he' is 'hate' if he says he's a woman.

Well yes, many people on Reddit are pretty dim and unable to think critically.

Abhannmor · 07/10/2023 14:11

Reddit is like taking a slow swim through a sewage bed. I dumped it when they axed r/ gendercritical. But kept rape fantasy subreddits ...insane

SquirrelSoShiny · 07/10/2023 15:25

Reddit is such a mixed bag. Some truly fascinating and insightful subs and some a sort of verbal pool of vomit.

Stephannee · 10/10/2023 21:22

An update I've reported some of the hate posts on the sub and had my complaints upheld, posts have been removed and some accounts have been either temp or perma banned.

It is handy for all the so-called "gender critical" users of reddit to gather in one place, doesn't take much time at all to scan them and report all the hate.

It is very clear it's a replacement for the banned GenderCritical board, the posts are dominantly about trans people, and I browsed the history of one of the posters and saw her give abuse to other women on reddit who don't hate trans people.

Hate doesn't belong on reddit, twitter might stand for it but reddit won't.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/10/2023 21:31

Reddit is a misogynistic cesspit with extremely questionable moderation, so it doesn't surprise me in the least.

MotherEarthisaTerf · 10/10/2023 21:35

Reddit is a boys playground. A bacon slapping, balls tickling, neck bearded swing set of the internet.

Shocking that such a misogynistic, porn filled, furry friendly, nerdy site is anti women’s rights. Or ‘hate speech’ as you call it stephaneeee. It’s hardly because Reddit is progressive is it!

and Twitter is an unmoderated hellhole where users are free to throw around hateful slurs.

A number of LGBT people are closing their accounts on Twitter because they can't cope with the hateful pile-ons they receive which the mods do nothing about anymore.

There are many women's and women's rights subs on Reddit, with women talking to other women about various topics.

I'm guessing, do correct me if I'm wrong, you wouldn't like those subs because they don't tend to talk about trans people and they would quickly throw out anyone who showed up only wanting to talk about trans people in an ill manner?

Hate doesn't belong on reddit, twitter might stand for it but reddit won't.

You seem to be using "hate" for, "arguments we can't answer", because, "we're intellectual cowards in a cult that has made up false claims".

Of course it's possible that individuals on either side can behave badly sometimes, and trans-activists are plenty guilty of that.

When someone makes false claims of "hate" against opponents, they themselves become guilty of spreading hate.

You can censor Reddit, but you aren't winning the argument that way... it kind of just shows the weakness of your position.
