Tunnocks

I have seen it quoted on here for many years that Tunnocks are to be supported as they support women's rights. I have looked on their website and social media and can see nothing to support this rumour. Does anyone have any evidence? Thanks.

I did not know there are both red and blue Tunnocks 😮

It's made me think of The Matrix. Which has made me think of this.

Does eating the red ones make you learn about the matrix and see through all the nonsense? They're the only ones I've ever eaten and I'm gender critical 🤔

The other day I had to send various people my choices for what I wanted for my birthday.

If only id known about Tunnocks hampers i wouldn't have had to send everyone the same link to Irn Bru 1901 cans.

IcakethereforeIam · 12/07/2023 16:48

I have to confess I've only tried haggis once, in a hotel breakfast at Loch Garten. I only remember not being keen, I can't remember why. I'd be willing to try it again. So, I apologise for the haggis and/or webbox bashing. Black pudding is fine. Although one my Dad got was so bad even the crabs under Beaumaris pier wouldn't eat it.

Baxters used to sell tinned haggis. Perhaps we could visit Tunnocks and Baxters and squeeze in a distillery?

Pasithean · 12/07/2023 16:49

You have to have a tea cake in your Hand when you die or you don’t go to Valhalla.

ArabeIIaScott · 12/07/2023 16:50

Er, I'd avoid tinned haggis. You might want to try roasting it instead of boiling it, though tbh I just microwave it. A good haggis is honestly delicious. Lovely blend of spices and nubbly texture and sheepiness.

Boiledbeetle · 12/07/2023 16:54

I think I only really despise one Scottish food item and it's not the item itself but the instance by my Scottish granny and father to put salt in it

You don't put salt in porridge! Just NO!

IcakethereforeIam · 12/07/2023 16:55

I bought some as souvenirs and gave them away. At least one tin, to my knowledge, has survived two house moves and still lurks in a cupboard.

Omg, I've just remembered they had tinned whole roast chicken! Let's give Baxsters a miss.

How about if your death takes longer than 5 seconds? Is it OK for it to be in your mouth?

EdithStourton · 12/07/2023 16:56

Haggis is fine.
But black pudding? 🤮🤮🤮

Waitwhat23 · 12/07/2023 16:56

I'm lurking on various threads purely to laugh at the increasingly furious footstamping of TRA's - carry on peakers - thank you for your service!

Anyway,

IMHO, the definitive order of best to worst Tunnocks products are -

Snowball
Teacake
Caramel Log
Caramel Wafer

The rest can be moved around a bit but the wafer is just gak.

I have just discovered the existence of the Wafer Cream - has anyone had one?

ArabeIIaScott · 12/07/2023 16:56

Black pudding is lush. Also a superfood.

Waitwhat23 · 12/07/2023 16:59

I'm Scottish and I don't like haggis or black pudding.

A good Cullen skink though. Oooh. It's turned into a cold rainy evening here and I could do with a great big bowl of it with buttered crusty bread.

What's not to love about a whole canned chicken. It looks so lush on its way out of the tin!!!

Mr Tric went out to the shops earlier and asked if I wanted anything so I said Tunnock's caramel wafers. He came back with a pack of milk chocolate and one of plain chocolate.

I'm now eating my first Tunnock's caramel wafer for about 50 years and whilst it isn't as heavenly as then, and is a bit sweet for my taste, it's not bad.

Wafer cream? Tell us more. (Im having a break from not knowing why Glinner writes what he writes)

Waitwhat23 · 12/07/2023 17:02

Found it on their website - I have never seen one before but am now intrigued...

Well I Never! I would be prepared to give it a try. For research purposes obviously.

If anyone has a recipe for coconut tablet id be very happy. My granny used to make a batch of normal tablet and a batch of coconut tablet and I've never managed to successfully replicate the coconut one.

Good man!

They don't taste like they did when I was little bit then I'm fairly sure they didn't have half the ingredients in them that they now have.

CervixSampler · 12/07/2023 17:12

I made butterbeer fudge last week in honour of JKR.

I'm sure it wouldn't last long enough at mine to take the photo, and there's only me here.
That looks rather nice.

CervixSampler · 12/07/2023 17:24

It's this recipe but with a couple of tweaks because I always tweak recipes. It's very sweet. Very. But I'm forcing it down. I've given 3 bags of it away as gifts.

I know they’re very hairy blighters but “disgusting” is a bit much! Skinning them is easier if, like all game, they’ve been hung for a while. Some people wax them but I believe purists disapprove of this.

I know I'm gonna regret asking

Is it the bagpipes you skin and wax or the haggis?

I am no longer sure I know which way is up, I thought haggis was a food, some animal stomach/skin of stomach? stuffed with err, meat? And er erm oats? And then cooked somehow?

Why did I click on this thread?! Why Why Why? I'm doing really well on my diet and now the treat cupboard with Tunnocks wafers in is calling to me. And the Tunnocks Tea Cakes.......Must......Resist.......

You have Tunnocks in the cupboard, untouched? How is this possible?
