I’m gutted, I’m such a huge fan of his. I’ve been hugely looking forward to the second series of Good Omens.

And now this. When challenged on it, apparently he said “I’m OK, TERFs can’t climbs stairs”.

How very disappointing.

I’m gender critical but I completely agree with you on this. TERF shouldn’t get slung about as an insult and neither should handmaiden. We need to be able to disagree and debate respectfully. 🤝

Am i missing something? The shirt says leave trans kids alone, would the freaks not be the ones agreeing to medicate them or educational institutions getting between them and their families. I would want kids who say they're trans to be able to safely explore what they think it means to them away from the harm of these institutions. How would we work out what David thinks his tee shirt means?

Yes - demonstrate your support for the young trans community (the vast majority who will grow out of it) by supporting harmful surgery and hormone treatment David! Knew he’d be liked by the TRAs :)

I like David through his acting and podcast though I disagree with him on this.

I think it's worth remembering that as well as his own child, it is likely in that industry that he is surrounded by people who believe that the trans movement is like/is part of the gay rights movement and is all about individual freedom to let people (ironically) be "themselves".

They also assume that all children who express gender cross identification are definitively future trans adults and do not have the knowledge that we do that the majority of them are not. So they see it as a kindness to accept this fated future as soon and as eagerly as possible.

And of course it is seen as a marker of how good and accepting a parent you are if you love your child unconditionally through even something that radical.

The other thing I get the sense of of from listening to detransitioners is how much faith parents and kids are putting in the medical professions and pathways. The idea that they could be so drastically wrong, unscientific and experimental seems unfathomable to them.

I'm disappointed with what he has said, and I hope that he and his family can learn the truth of all of this before any permanent damage is done.

he’s an actor. These are not people I look to for a sensible opinion on any matter of importance. I’d as soon ask the cat.

Well done, David, you’re quite right, although it’s a bit rude and transphobic of you to call people “freaks” for wanting to put gender non-conforming kids on an irreversible medical pathway. Quite correct though that these kids should be left alone, as the vast majority will end up realising that they are gay or simply gender non-conforming, and will come to accept themselves as they are. The tiny minority who retain a trans identity can make an informed decision in adulthood as to whether hormone treatment and/or surgery is the way forward for them.

Do you have to say everything you see on a t shirt? It shouldn't be on the t shirt and there is no need to copy the t shirt or to call people terfs or handmaidens. It is childish as is saying "he (the t shirt) started it." Don't most kids grow out of that before they leave primary school?
