I want to wish everyone at London Trans Pride today a joyful, safe and empowering day.

It's never been more important to support trans people, who are being stigmatised and placed at the heart of a toxic culture war.

As your Mayor, I will always be on your side.🏳️‍⚧️

Powerful words! Looking forward to him endorsing and supporting LGB-only events too. As he's a man of principle I'm sure we'll see this in the very near future.

WHAT?! London Pride was last Saturday. Is there seriously a whole other Trans Pride today? For the love of sanity 🤦🏻‍♂️

literalviolence · 08/07/2023 10:13

I actually think that trans people are being stigmatised and used as political pawns. The way to stop that is to be clear that trans does not make you change sex or give you access to spaces reserved for the opposite sex. Then we can get on with continuing to try to dismantle the entrenched stereotypes which a trans ideology feeds on and actually really supporting the vulnerable people who can't accept the reality of who they are.

And who's placing them there, numbnut?

Gagagardener · 08/07/2023 10:28

@literalviolence has got that exactly right.

It does seem to go over their heads.

Or it doesn't, and they are just deliberately manipulative with the lines that they parrot.

SirChenjins · 08/07/2023 10:51

The moment men stop demanding to be admitted to single sex spaces, to take women’s places in sport, to access women’s services and for their self declared gender to equal sex the war will be over. Balls (literally and figuratively) in their court.

There is no LGB without the T, but there can be a T without the LGB.

So...
Go away, get your own Pride, you can't sit here! Etc
(Scissors in the LGBT in the title case in point)
Does own Pride...
Wah, not like that, for the love of sanity!
🙄😁

He is Labour. Has to support the party line.

Our next government will run this country like the Biden administration. Marvellous.

RebelliousCow · 08/07/2023 11:35

What people call 'trans' is essentially nothing other than males or females playing around ( for whatever motivating reason) with socially gendered codes and imagery. That's it.

There is no 'trans' gene. There is no third sex.

The growing number of detransitioners is testament to the fact that 'being trans' is a state of mind: holding to a belief that individual feelings or mental perceptions can trump common reality. But they cannot in the long run.

People with crippling dysphoria always understood that the issue was the mental perception of, and thus experienece of, the sexed body. It was the body that they needed to modify. It was always understood, though, that one cannot change sex.

A way to help would be to go back to the original term of transsexual, someone has actually has gender dysmorphia and has had some medical transition.

Trans and Transgender is too umbrella which allows bearded men to self-identify as female. If you want to call yourself "trans" then I want to see real commitment.

I recently asked a "trans" campaigner how exactly he was trans, and the answer was "why did I want to know about his genitals?". A straight up refusal to answer, because the campaigner did not have gender dysmorphia, has not taken any cross-sex hormones and appears on TV with a beard!

No - as has been explained to you ad infinitum.

RebelliousCow · 08/07/2023 11:47

So much in the way of rudimentary logical failures, and an unwillingness to do any proper thinking or research, relying instead on unquestioned articles of faith, worn out cliches, repetitive and meaningless tropes and mantras - all in place of critical thought and analysis. This is how the TRA movement has so far manged to get by.

'No Debate' worked perfectly - as the fundamental fault lines could remain unexamined - but as soon as exposed to sunlight they diintegrate into a pool of sludge.

Then comes the moralising tone; the appeals to moral righteousness; then the name calling and high emotion of cancellation and censure and fingers in the ears.

Pride MONTH, an entire flipping month, was June. This is well into July. I'm honestly just sick to death of hearing about it

But yes, trans groups have taken over the Pride parade, to the extent that lesbians feel downright scared to attend. So much for the LGBTQIA+++ 'community'. And now there is a whole separate trans event, a week after the actual London Pride event, in the second weekend of July

Sadiq Khan is just a superficial fawner, but he's not the only one

BodgerLovesMashedPotato · 08/07/2023 11:51

So?
They're doing what everyone presumably wanted, their own event.
Yet still people have a problem, as they're sick of hearing about Pride as there's been a whole month of it.
Seems can't win whatever

No, they're having their cake and eating it.

The main point of London Pride this year was that trans was central to it. They also have a separate event this week too.

If they want a separate event then they shouldn't have made last week's Pride all about them.

The "gender critical" movement?

GC are responding to a culture war pushed by progressives/trans activism.

Progressives are demanding such and such new "rights" for certain people and making bizarre claims about identity.

As for how "toxic" things have got, well some trans-activists are responsible for threats, violence, "no debate", and demonisation of opponents.

peekohome · 08/07/2023 12:00

@BodgerLovesMashedPotato

We lesbians aren't stamping our feet in outrage and demanding that Trans Pride be shouted down and shut down. And if Trans Pride people were to set up a TransAlliance charity (they have no need as there's Stonewall) we would try to strip them of their charitable status.

What I as a lesbian am seeing here is absolutely delicious irony served up on a platter with pink and blue flags.
I'm ecstatic that Trans have their own pride. They're absolutely correct, they need their own spaces.

Now, can we lesbians have our own too, please?

So you'd be fine with an LGB-only Pride that was all about sexual orientation and nothing whatsoever to do with gender identity ideology?

RebelliousCow · 08/07/2023 12:26

Pride has long become a big corporate bandwagon, and an opportunity to push yet more forms of social justice activism......and showboat transgressive sexual practice - as predicated in queer theory.
