'"For the purpose of this event, we are satisfied that the inclusion of transwomen and non-binary people is compliant with the Equality Act 2010 and the relevant Statutory Code of Practice. This is consistent with the approach taken when a similar event was held in the Parliament in 2019."'

What is the point of a scheme to get women into parliament that includes everyone?

Parliament under fire for 'betrayal' as trans people take part in women's event

For Women Scotland are hoping the Equalities Watchdog will step in to stop biological women from being left out of women's events

I really wish all the decent Scottish men would just self ID as women for a few weeks. It would show the insanity of the situation.

Come on men, step up. Protect your daughters, wives and mothers.

If enough men got tickets claiming to be women that it was a majority of men at this type of event (which given how much deference is given to trans in Scotland I'm sure wouldn't be hard) then it'll expose the whole sorry mess.

Ii follow gussiegrips on Twitter and she called if “elect she:her”

which makes sense

ArabeIIaScott · 27/06/2023 09:48

At least one of the transwomen who attended listened to women's concerns about female representation and responded:

'Responding to the widespread criticism, Gomersall said: "I'll never not find it hilarious the number of people who spent significant chunks of their day sending me abuse I'll never see."'

Hilarious, is it, aye?

And here Gomersall laughs at 'GCs', using a dehumanising label to refer to other women attending.

This is not the fucking spirit of helping women get involved in politics in a sisterly atmosphere. It's not a fucking playground spat.

A reminder that the event was oversubscribed. Gomersall took a woman's place.

And is standing for the greens?

ellie has replaced Beth Douglas as the face of the friendly greens trans woman?

bwth has gone very quiet since Alex Coke Hamilton “did it for” Beth, which is interesting.

there was talk on here about that person having troubling sexual behaviour. Maybe the poster did go to the police after all. I hope so.

beth, I mean, not Alex coke Hamilton. I’m sure that Alex coke Hamilton has not been responsible for any inappropriate behaviour and is a rea friend to women.

he might want to do something aboht that autocorrect, though. Look at all my typos, but spelling his name gets corrected to coke every time . I wonder if that gets annoying

Gomersall is a Green, yes. And NUS Scotland president.

Obviously with extensive experience of all the issues that hold women back and inform our lives and impinge on progress. Thank god there are schemes to help counter the prevalance of white men in politics, eh?

“Trans Rights And Women’s Rights Are The Same Fight” : NUS Scotland President Ellie Gomersall on the Scottish Gender Bill

Naked Politics speaks to 23 year old Ellie Gomersall and current president of the Scottish National Student Union to find out what the actual legislation changes are, why the current system isn’t fit for purpose and why trans rights uplift everyone.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of attendees were male. If more than 1% of attendees were male, that would be a clear sign that there is not fair and reasonable representation for women within that space, even by the standards of transactivism, which insists that perhaps 1% of women are male.

And of course, this is exactly the sort of event transactivists target. Having the power to invade and dominate women’s spaces and groups is presumably intoxicating.

But it’s been perfectly obvious for a while that men invading these spaces only ever argue for their fellow men and their rights. They never, ever prioritise women’s rights and thus, as representatives for women, they are not only useless, but actively damaging.

ArabeIIaScott · 27/06/2023 10:36

'1% of women are male'

We've already had confirmation that a committee made of 50% transwomen and 50% men would be 'balanced' by gender, although I forget who said that. I think it was Scotland.

Urgh!!! Such brass neck. It’s as if our Ellie is the ONLY person fighting for Women’s rights in Scotland. I was pissed off with them back on this thread because they’re constantly wheeled out on the Scottish media https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4723342-certain-people-being-interviewed-repeatedly-about-grr-bill

Its like there is another agenda and it’s nothing to do with women’s rights.

Certain people being interviewed repeatedly about GRR Bill. | Mumsnet
