Certain people being interviewed repeatedly about GRR Bill.

I just need to vent. I'm in Scotland and am sick to the back teeth of Ellie Gomersal being wheeled out and interviewed constantly. They are always positioned as an 'activist' and as a young person who has been waiting to get their GRC since they were 18 and are now 23. They do the whole exasperated 'it's just admin' schtick' and that it doesn't impact women AT ALL. It really grinds my gears.

Disingenuously they never seem to mention Ellie's heavy involvement with the Scottish Greens (they're co-chair of the Scottish Greens Executive Committee) or that they're the head of the Scottish NUS. They're always positioned as some ordinary, non-affiliated spokesperson.

Maybe it's not their fault but the fault of the journalists and TV producers who are bloody lazy and have Ellie's number on speed dial. Or maybe it's because Ellie is photogenic and TV friendly. It's the same as Hannah Graf being on Lorraine. Yes, they appear to be genuinely lovely people but that doesn't cancel out the fact that this Bill is an ill-conceived mess that will have serious impacts on women's safety. No matter how smiley and reasonable-looking they are when they say it has no impact on women, they are patently wrong. But oh don't all us ordinary women look awful and unreasonable in comparison?!

I think it's the endless public broadcast of lies and propaganda that any woman here could pull apart in seconds that is the most sickening and immoral part of all this.

It's being pushed through by feeding the general public a lot of soothing bullshit and helping to hide the truth. There are debatable points in all this, but we'll never get near the debate while all this endless lying and anti-woman/anti-child safeguarding marketing goes on.
