So, most at risk, women have nothing in common anyway, men are the risk not transwomen, women commit crimes as well, we should include everyone all the time, is pretty much the jist.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/06/2023 12:33

Nothing new in that article. It’s all the same weak arguments we have heard a hundred times.

Tinysoxx · 18/06/2023 12:37

How embarrassing to write that and have it printed.

zanahoria · 18/06/2023 12:38

So define 'us'

DarkDayforMN · 18/06/2023 12:38

What was the point in that? Just a spew of talking points and inaccurate factual claims, a house of cards of links to other products of the propaganda arm of the trans-industrial complex.

AI could have written it, with the same amount of insight.

IsThePopeCatholic · 18/06/2023 12:41

So condescending and arrogant. Who the hell does she think she is?

zanahoria · 18/06/2023 12:47

"As a result, trans women and non-binary people are being excluded from single-sex spaces."

Does she even know what single sex spaces means?

Redshoeblueshoe · 18/06/2023 12:47

Over 200 Quote tweets. I'm just off to read them.

I may be gone some time

Sausagenbacon · 18/06/2023 12:51

From twitter What a dreadful fact free, poorly researched, anti feminist load of crap
I think that says it, really.

Rightsraptor · 18/06/2023 12:57

So no discernible adverse impact from self ID in Ireland, huh? Tell that to the women in Limerick jail.

Helleofabore · 18/06/2023 12:57

What an embarrassment of an article!

But the main threat to women comes overwhelmingly from men, not from trans women, who should not be penalised for the actions of predatory men. As a result, trans women and non-binary people are being excluded from single-sex spaces, putting them at a greatly increased risk of violence.

Please do tell us Kathryn Bromwich, how does a woman or girl tell the difference between a predatory or abusive male who is trans and one who is not trans?

Are we back to waiting for magical signs to be developed that cloak a male in a particular aura colour so we can judge?

If a handful of individuals take advantage of a system they should be held accountable, but it does not mean the service ought to be dismantled altogether, or rights stripped away from a whole community.

Yes, you read it. Those attacked are collateral damage. Acceptable for the sake of inclusion.

These are all things we have heard before.

It fails logic and is fails consistency.

Apollo441 · 18/06/2023 13:11

Isn't it just typical. No comments allowed and twitter locked down to her followers. They know they can't intellectually or morally defend this crap.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 18/06/2023 13:14

Oh my fucking god

welp ladies, I think we’ve finally got the transactivist definition of ‘woman’:

If women are united by anything – and there are 3.8 billion of us, so there is going to be little common ground – it is the risk of sexual violence

so the thing that all women (the ones with penises and the ones without) have in common is being at risk of sexual violence. That’s Katheryn’s definition of ‘woman’, a person at risk of sexual violence. All women are victims in her world, that’s what makes them women. If they stop being victims, they stop being women

do you think she has any appreciation of how singularity fucked up that is?

zanahoria · 18/06/2023 13:14

When she says men disguised as women does she means transwomen?

She muddles up so much terminology it is hard to decypher.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 18/06/2023 13:18

Even the subheading buys into the idea that the only things that unite women are having bad shit happen to them

We should concentrate on what unites us, from sexual assault to healthcare inequality

really Guardian? Fucking really? There’s nothing that’s not awful that all women have in common?

jesus

Yes it's so depressing.

If you follow that train of thought to its logical conclusion, if feminism ever succeeds in its aims, women will not achieve equality, we will cease to exist altogether.

Meanwhile, back in reality, the group of people they are calling women already doesn't exist, and we probably definitely need a word for adult humans of the female biological sex.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 18/06/2023 13:24

It’s such rank, sexist stupidity

healthcare inequality you say Kathryn? I wonder what sort of healthcare these strange undefinable victim people might uniquely require? Quite the fucking head scratcher isn’t it you fool?

londonmummy1966 · 18/06/2023 13:46

There's a fundamental flaw in an argument that states "Every single case of someone being attacked is unacceptable, and everything must be done to protect women’s safety" but then argue that "a disproportionate amount of attention is given to another topic: men masquerading as trans women in order to gain access to single-sex spaces." She can't have it both ways - either any man masquerading as a trans woman for nafarious purposes is one too many and everything should be done to stop them - and everything includes preserving single sex places as single sex places - or she considers someone with XX chromasomes being attacked by a man pretending to be a woman is acceptable in protecting the transcommunity at the expense of actual women.

zibzibara · 18/06/2023 13:48

This is nonsense. There is nothing whatsoever that unites women and so-called "trans women".

I‘m sure. Not that I can bother to read it. Misogynistic rubbish

Clymene · 18/06/2023 13:51

I have nothing more in common with the men that want to share women only spaces than any other men Kathryn. Actually probably less as he men who stay out may have a modicum of respect for women's boundaries

BigPeople · 18/06/2023 13:53

Kathryn is as thick as mince, by the sounds of it.

The Guardian has completely collapsed as a credible source of news. Just poorly researched, poorly evidenced, ideologically driven drivel.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 18/06/2023 14:02

The woman is a commissioning editor for the observer for fucks sake

it’s one thing to write a pile of illogical sexist crap, it’s quite another to not allow readers to comment on it and lock down your twitter

‘here’s what I think. I don’t care what you think’

much journalism. Slow hand clap for Kathryn

Backstreets · 18/06/2023 14:07

You bloody well don’t get to consent on behalf of me or other women, Kathryn. That’s the thing.

Catiette · 18/06/2023 14:33

“Every single case of someone being attacked is unacceptable, and everything must be done to protect women’s safety…"

“If a handful of individuals take advantage of a system they should be held accountable, but it does not mean the service ought to be dismantled altogether, or rights stripped away from a whole community…”
