HAHAHAHA thats a fairly accurate description of my local Wickes.

Its not next to Aldi though. I think its next to some carpet place or bed place that has gone under about three times and just starts up again as if nothing has happened.

Wickes are awesome allies to LGBT people. Really happy to support them. They stand up, and don't allow bigotry which is leading light in the building and construction and DIY industry.

Most just want to buy stuff when they go.

Bugger, I have used them in the past, but no more! Fortunately I have spent small sums (replaced fluorescent tube, etc). There is a local builder's merchant nearby, with go there for my bits and bobs from now on!

Yes, those with ongoing contractual work are using building merchants, or the likes of Screwfix. tbh I use SF as I am more likely to get what I want.

I rarely use Wickes, I won't miss it.

Actually, I saw it as Wickes having the guns, that's the name of the character after all. Didn't even occur to me that it could be interpreted as threatening tras. Anyone who felt threatened has my sincere and fulsome apology.

Not offended, I just thought given there are (rightly) plenty of complaints when TRAs post that ridiculous anime character image holding a gun it might not be the most prudent idea for MN to start doing similar.

If Wickes wanted to be really inclusive, they would put pressure on their suppliers to produce tools that are safe for women to use.

This has made me feel sad. My dear dad LOVED Wickes and I spent more time than most I imagine traveling round with him in my youth. TBF he wasn't loyal or exclusionary, he was keen on b&q and Screwfix and the local hardware store too.

I suggested to DH that he get some bits for a repair he's doing to our garden boundary from Wickes at the weekend. I was irritated he didn't go as he was too tired but am glad now. They will not be having a penny of this household's money now. How dare they?

DH used to be quite passive in my boycotts and rants about products and services treating women this way but his eyes have been completely opened. We moved all our bank accounts after that "ally" video from Barclays, he knows not to buy own brand when getting any period stuff on the shopping list as my views in Tampax and Always are well known! Etc etc. He will now know that Wickes is no longer for the likes of us.

Don’t go to BnQ, they’ve got the offensive “progress” pride flag everywhere which alienated women and the LGB community and tries to divide others. So they’re being funded by someone to virtue signal this bollocks.

We contemplated using Wickes for renovating our bathroom very recently. The quote was very competitive. In the end we went for a local company because Wickes' reviews were very mixed. Even with a nutter of a builder, still glad we did not use Wickes. Such contempt for its customers.

I'm not sure Wickes has such a market presence that the majority of people will have no other choice but there. Within less than a mile from my local Wickes I have B&Q, Toolstation, Screwfix, B&M, The Range, plenty of places to buy my paint. The flag flying bothers me a lot less than being told to not go to their store.
