Seems Rosie Duffield and Neale Hanvey were also threatened.

The Met Police appear to have dismissed an earlier threat.

Harry the owl is tweeting about the progress pride flag being placed in a certain way in tweets is a crime but death threats are not.
Sorry I can’t link I’m a Luddite and new to twitter. He’s got a good point.
worlds gone mad.
Jo cox was murdered in 2016, then the other politician, seems statistically they are at much greater risk of murder than trans people considering they are way less than even 1%of the population.
Someone is going to be seriously hurt if not killed soon.
JC rolled put her head in her hands and shook her head, as most sane people would do listening to a woman who has given birth twice pretending she doesn’t know what sex she is and guessing she might have xy chromosomes. The women is obviously a moron to put it lightly.
Men threatening to kill themselves when they don’t get what they want is abuse tactics.
Then when that doesn’t work they threaten to kill us. Same old story.

The Met:

The Met is policing by consent,
but we all know they are bent.
Violence against women is the rule,
and hate crime reporting is a tool,
to silence women who speak out,
the Met fly flag for men, no doubt.

Artificial intelligence just wrote this poem about Joanna
Amidst the halls of power and might,
There stands a woman firm and bright,
With steadfast heart and fiery zeal,
Joanna Cherry, a voice so real.

She speaks for women, their rights and space,
Championing the cause with unwavering grace,
Her words a stirring call to all,
To fight against the injustice of patriarchy's thrall.

But as she stands tall, and speaks her mind,
The cowards and the trolls come out in kind,
Sending death threats and vile abuse,
Their hatred and violence, all on full display.

In the face of such hate, the Metropolitan Police,
Fail to act, and their negligence does not cease,
Ignoring menacing words, and threats so clear,
Allowing those who seek to harm, to come too near.

But Joanna Cherry will not be silenced,
Her spirit unbroken, her will unyielding,
For she knows that in the struggle for justice and right,
We must stand firm, and continue the fight.

So let her voice ring out, clear and strong,
A beacon for all, who have been silenced too long,
For in her courage, we see our own,
A call to arms, for justice to be shown.

Wow, AI is a great poet!

Boiledbeetle · 14/06/2023 23:46

AI poetry is definitely improving.

@Somanycats what did you give it as info to write it? As it seems to have a good understanding of the subject matter?

Somanycats · 15/06/2023 00:41

I gave -Joanna cherry, met police, defender of womens rights.
Nothing about her being an MP , negligence, trolls or the patriarchy - it did that itself!

Bloody hell! I'm even more impressed in that case! It's for a better grasp of the current situation than chatgpt has, with that one you have you give it many goes and gently nudge it along with each attempt.

Tabitha1960 · 15/06/2023 05:15

Didn't the police send 5 or 6 officers to someone's house for misgendering?

Forgot his name but Lawrence Fox and Harry Miller were there and filmed it.

RecycleMePlease · 15/06/2023 06:03

You mean after she was extremely disrespectful to another politician talking about a trans person writing on suicide?

Yep that was super sensitive of her and respectful of someone else speaking.

Mishy, have you ever watched parliament? It's full of people rolling their eyes, hamming up their reactions and making noise over people speaking when they don't like it.

That's why they have to call each other 'the honourable member for <whatever>' and have the speaker yell at them and impose fines - because it's a poorly mannered debate club who need basic rules so it doesn't descend any further than it already does.

Kucinghitam

Sorry - I didn't realise i had to post on such threads.

Yes - it should have been crimed and investigated if the reporting person felt as though it was a genuine/credible threat. Or they could have looked at offences under the malicious communications act, harassment etc.

Mochudubh
Yes, I was working. I do apologise again.

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 15/06/2023 06:37

Funny how some men are referred to as 'victims' and some women are referred to as 'reporting persons' by some. If you know, you know.

GCalltheway · 15/06/2023 07:39

It’s that casual spin on words - that I have noticed too.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 15/06/2023 07:46

May I recommend grey rock people?

remember the box of tissues this poster will have by his computer

Does in no way condone any death threat.

Not a very nice person IMHO.

Yeah, when you put it in context, it's actually fine. No, good. Women should expect death threats for being disrespectful. I believe there are several countries where they're right thinking enough to follow through.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/06/2023 07:53

I do want to ask him if it's generally police policy that you get one free death threat before the police will investigate you... but must sit on hands

Yes, those black youths won't throw themselves down the stairs, you know.

What did JC say that was allegedly disrespectful?

We don't know and never will. We just have to accept Mishy's word that it was seen on Twitter; ergo, she's guilty.

Bernard, you make a good point.

I have become the thing I hate : Grassy Knollington - Conspiracy Nut. I am now convinced that Kirsty Blackman is an MI5 sleeper agent, hell bent on the destruction of the Scottish National Party.

🙄Mea culpa!

Joanna Cherry, death threats, and the Met Police
Felix125 · 15/06/2023 17:44

AmbleInAnnBoleyn
My usual terminology is 'reporting person' unless there is a specific offence - in which case a person will be the 'victim' of that specific offence. It has nothing to do with the person's sex.
