So great to see 2 highly intelligent pp, from opposite sides of the political spectrum have such a respectful, thoughtful and highly entertaining discussion. Very enjoyable watch!

Thanks for pointing this out - I really enjoyed it. I always like listening to both of them anyway and interesting to see how much common ground they have on this despite their political differences.

TheBiologyStupid · 12/06/2023 11:32

An excellent video - thanks for sharing.

So funny. Imagine a round of drinks with these two!

ThisIsUncool · 12/06/2023 14:13

Thanks, OP. That's well worth watching.

Violetparis · 12/06/2023 14:30

Thanks for sharing, really interesting and good humoured.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/06/2023 15:20

That was a great rant! Thanks OP - very funny and to the point.

I need to go and listen to that.

I heard a wonderful quote from Murray the other day. To paraphrase: 'What is all this LGBTQAI++ nonsense? We're not a community. We're not the same. There is no greater chasm in the world than that between gay men and asexuals.'

Fenlandia · 12/06/2023 16:24

It won't convince anyone new, but my god I enjoyed these two smart people riffing off the ridiculousness of modern queer culture. Oh, and how posh and young is their host?!

DemiColon · 12/06/2023 16:42

I found this quite nice. They didn't say anything I wouldn't have expected, but it was nice to see them chatting about it.

One thing that really struck me was the way DM identified the whole movement as deeply misogynistic and wanting to control women. There is a contingent of people wh seem to be convinced that the politically or culturally conservative are themselves inveterate sexists who believe women should have no autonomy. I think it's worth noting that it seems pretty clear that people like DM, or Jordam Peterson for that matter, seem to be as incensed by that kind of behaviour as anyone on the left.

About 14, I thought....

But yes, fab interview.

FrancescaContini · 12/06/2023 19:22

Very watchable, thank you. I loved Julie’s “unbreakable Wi-Fi code” comment about the string of letters.

LoobiJee · 12/06/2023 21:46

Thanks for posting. I enjoyed watching that. Not sure how I ended up posting on an old thread instead of this one though.

TheBiologyStupid · 12/06/2023 23:01

Douglas Murray was new to me - but he came across as a good guy and clearly recognised the blatant misogyny of "the alphabet people". I echo the comments above about the posh young host, although to be fair to him his interventions were few and far between and reasonably sensible.

OnAPostItNote · 12/06/2023 23:13

Thanks for sharing this. It’s excellent

JeandeServiette · 12/06/2023 23:17

I can't help liking Douglas Murray, even though we'd disagree on so much. His clarity of thought and expression is so refreshing.

Obviously Julie Bindel is a goddess.

2Rebecca · 13/06/2023 00:14

I thought it was excellent

Yes he was perfectly fine, I should have said that as well as being snarky about his youthful appearance!

BethDuttonsTwin · 13/06/2023 18:21

Love DM - one of the sharpest commentators out there.

determinedtomakethiswork · 13/06/2023 18:34

Thanks for this.

Yes this was a fantastic interview!

HareRaising · 13/06/2023 20:12

Always have a lot of time for DM - he is a very intelligent commentator and usually quite entertaining with it.

timetorefresh · 13/06/2023 20:46

If only these conversations were happening on the BBC or similar

ohfook · 13/06/2023 20:52

One thing I love about JB is her willingness to engage in dialogue with people who hold opinions that differ from hers. She does the exact opposite of placing herself in an echo chamber and is willing to have her own thoughts scrutinised. I think it's a real mark of her character.

I loved reading her interview with buck angel. It really read as two people who both liked and respected each other despite having completely opposing viewpoints.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 13/06/2023 20:55

I loved that discussion, both DM and JB had an infections twinkle about them. They were lovely to watch as well as listen too.
