At a time when women’s safe spaces are being demolished, men are now claiming the need for their own. Perhaps by realising the importance of having single sex safe spaces they will begin to respect and protect ours.

Probably not.

I suspect you would get short shrift, like the Man Friday protest women at the men’s pond in Hampstead, who were thrown out while trans identifying men were welcomed at the women’s pond.

You mean non-women want to be alone with only non-women. If you identify as a non-woman you would surely be welcomed. Unless they are bigots.

How was that argued? If big beardy men can identify as women when they want to try on a dress in a shop, and have the 'right' to intimidate young female assistants who challenge them, and if Eddie Izzard can be Suzy when he feels like it, how did the men at Hampstead Pool justify women iDing as men not being allowed in the pool?

Cos the men wanted them excluded.

In the other case the men wanted to be included.

Afaict, the consistent rule seems to be that men get what they want.

(Although I think a lot of the practical problem is that there are enough women who will make a big deal about "inclusion" - ie giving men whatever they want - that any man demanding stuff from women can expect some backup from some women. There's no united opposition from women. Peer pressure on women is often to concede to men.

Whereas a woman trying to get into men's spaces wouldn't get much or any support from men. There generally won't be any men demanding other men be "inclusive". There's little or no peer pressure on men to concede to women.)

It is and always has been perfectly legal to exclude men and trans women from women's spaces and women and trans men from men's spaces according to the equalities act.

But you don't have to.

Trans women and their supporters are very aggressive and women capitulate to men out of fear.

Men are not frightened of the threats from trans men, either physically, socially, professionally or otherwise. So they don't capitulate.

Give women the tools and strategies to stand up for themselves and the law will back us up!!!

I wonder if it'd be the same reaction if Man Friday tried that again.
Things have moved on. EI is flying the flag for walking over other people's boundaries so maybe they'd be let in this time.
