At a time when women’s safe spaces are being demolished, men are now claiming the need for their own. Perhaps by realising the importance of having single sex safe spaces they will begin to respect and protect ours.

Probably not.

I like the look of this retreat so I now identify as a man.

The reporting of the current trial of the teenage girl who allegedly 'pretended' to be a man in order to have a sexual relationship with her, is interesting. The defendant allegedly said she was a man, wore boxer shorts etc - but is not being treated with the reverence a trans person would undoubtedly receive in reports. There is a switch to male pronouns when reporting on the period when she is alleged to have posed as a member of the opposite sex, but there's no holding back on the 'pretending' allegation and it is central to the case.

It's not the first time this has happened (one previous case - headlined in the Gaurdian as "woman who pretended to be a man", the defendant meriting handcuffs and an 8 year sentence).

The difference between 'pretending' to be the opposite sex and identifying as the opposite sex, is apparently very clear to the media.

Is it the one between Bristol/Bath? If so, not too far from me. Yeh - I’d be up for a Man Friday 2.0
