Safe spaces for women (and anyone else who says they’re a woman) help by completing Leeds survey

Leeds council are consulting on creating safe spaces for women. But not just for women. For anyone who identifies as a woman ie men and women, therefore giving people who are most likely to harm women ie men access to the space designed to keep them safe.

I am really annoyed about this survey and am asking as many of you as possible to complete it to point out that women needs safe spaces based on sex. Not on how people feel.

Done. Ticked other and commented on sex being the protected characteristic that's missing.
Would be funny if they get more responses than the number of women who are likely to have ever gone into Leeds!

I'd point out that it's men (or 'people assigned male at birth') that present a risk to women's safety based on physical biology rather than gender (bigger, stronger, more predatory etc); that this biology isn't changed and the risk is not mitigated by transition or identity (TW actually over-represented among serious sex offenders); and that including AMABs within women's safe spaces sabotages their safety.

Exactly. I would feel more unsafe in a place meant for women that allowed men in, than out among the general public

My fear would be justified, because men who want to get into women’s spaces are showing they have no respect for our boundaries or our human rights.

Hazelnuttella · 08/06/2023 21:24

Done, thank you. Couldn’t believe what I was reading. Absolutely mad

thenightsky · 08/06/2023 21:31

Done. Said that women's spaces should be sex based and woman is not a feeling in some man's head.

FloweryWowery · 08/06/2023 21:38

I've completed it. It's dreadful, would be funny if the subject matter wasn't so serious.

Soontobe60 · 08/06/2023 21:38

A badly devised survey as its based on the incorrect assumption that men can also be female. Morons.

Iafontaine · 08/06/2023 21:43

wow that survey is something else.

TheInterceptor · 08/06/2023 21:45

Women*

Hmm

NewBootsAndRanty · 08/06/2023 21:47

Took this photo at my GP surgery in Leeds City centre the other day - I've blanked out locations and workers contact info.

Check out the Tuesday groups and then the bit circled in red..
This is everywhere. I don't usually see the disclaimer with men's groups (which are appearing at a rapid rate), but every time with specifically womens stuff - of which there is less and less as time goes on.

Done. Idiots Angry

BadBarry · 08/06/2023 21:52

Done, don't think they will like my answers though.

KEG973 · 08/06/2023 21:53

Not gender “identity” ACTUAL GENDER. So sick of this PC BS

mumda · 08/06/2023 21:54

What a crock of shite.

How can they be allowed to put out such a nonsensical survey.

YinYogi · 08/06/2023 18:19

Done!

A survey about women and for women that doesn’t include sex as a characteristic is fucking stupid and I’ve told them so,

Lol,I hadn't read the thread before I did the survey, but I did the same.

ChatHRT · 08/06/2023 22:03

Done
What a shit survey
I am now a 'regular visitor' and a furious one at that

Pluvia · 08/06/2023 22:11

Do we think that designated places where people identify as women or girls can go for safety would be helpful? It would be a magnet for predatory men.

Now if there was a place where biological women could go, staffed by biological women and admitting biological women only that might be useful.

NewBootsAndRanty · 08/06/2023 22:12

They'll never let your second idea happen @Pluvia

Yes, a magnet for predatory men because they will have zero gatekeeping. The threat to women and girls is from 'assigned male at birth' people, but the city council (and Women's Lives Leeds & Women Friendly Leeds) resolutely welcome precisely that sex class into women's safe spaces. They have also anticipated women's fears and framed them as "hate speech" which they "stand against" - the wording is intimidatory, and is itself the soft end of VAWG.

It's astonishing. If you were unfamiliar with gender ideology and the irrational heft it has among people who like to identify as 'progressive' in western politics, you'd think they were going out of their way to make public spaces less safe for women and girls, and make them stay at home.

The survey is in itself alarming for women and girls in Leeds. Those who can't comply with the edict that they must trust AMABS (aka men) have been not just abandoned but abused as hateful. It's the new 'misandry'. The Labour Party has truly lost its way.

I saw a post on fb about safe spaces on weekend evenings for women on a night out in Leeds and sent it to my daughters to use if they ever need to. I need to warn them not to now I know it’s for men too, thanks for pointing that out.

I will fill it in now as a Leeds resident.

Well, well, well.

I invite anyone who's not yet looked at the survey to play a little game. One of the questions (relating to how safe people feel in the city centre at different times of day) is:

Do you feel any of your personal characteristics particularly impact the experience you have? If so, which ones?

Guess what's missing.

Two are missing: sex and preg&mat. Both of these characteristics affect women on the basis of sex.

Thank you all so much for filling it in. It’s so important to get the alternative view out there.

Done. What twats

wrappedupinmyselflikeaspool · 09/06/2023 08:05

Done the survey. I live in Leeds. Pointed out they’d missed “sex” one of the protected characteristics off the list, and that it’s “gender reassignment” not gender identity.

dudsville · 09/06/2023 08:12

Done. What idiocy.
