I looked for an explanation of the new V shape and circle.
im surprised that the V has black and brown stripes which represent ‘people of colour’, but no white stripe.
to me this suggests that the flag is designed by white people..who are graciously including ‘people of colour’ as being allowed in the gang.

apologies for the bad explanation! But isn’t this a bit batshit/ awful?

A beach towel rejected by Kandinsky as having a bit too much going on.

But honestly,
the flag indicates that ALL people with Black or Brown skin are Queer.
And that is simply not true.

It is really fucking weird is what it is. As well as wrong.
Messy thinking = messy flags

There is some weird messaging there.

About two years ago, the national day we have where I live for celebrating indigenous people decided to makes it theme on queer. So basically all about queer indigenous people.

It was weird though because no only is that not a group made up wholly of queer people, there are a lot of different opinions, religions, and political viewpoints in that community. There are some serious and sometimes heated political disagreements too.

Which I think should be expected, shouldn't it? But then you have this national affirmation day that all of a sudden is about one particular viewpoint. And excludes many members of the group who don't have the right opinions. "Not really Native" I guess we could say, it sounds catchy?

What I think it shows is that so many disparate organizations are essentially controlled by an activist class who all subscribe to the same political religion.

Wow, the amount of anti queer straight people on here putting in their two cents worth on a flag. What a lot of prejudice. It is no wonder why the queer community is so paranoid and feels unsafe right now in the UK and globally.

In essence, the traditional flag has had added the arrow, calling out those in the queer community where progress still needs to be made: people of colour (not white people!), and trans people. Thus the arrow right indicating progress needed.

One doesn't need to scratch too far to find real bigotry lying underneath in some of the comments above. These people are just trying to live their lives and be treated respectfully.

They only bigotry here is coming from people like you who support this racist, homophobic and sexist abomination and anything queer theory.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I teach mainly black students and when they had an assembly about the progress pride flag some students in my form commented to me that they found it offensive the idea that the original rainbow didn't include black people.

Where is the respect for women and LGB people?

As if they gave a flying fuck about us.

O listen, it's no surprise to me the hyperbole framed and enacted on FWR, you're in a league of your own; incentivised and incited by each other, with no grounding in the LGBTQ community whatsoever.

Have at it, it's good craic for those watching on. 😁

You're right I got nothing to do with the LGBTQWTFBBQ. I'm LGB.

Very happy for you.

The vast, vast majority of the LGBTQ community want nothing to to with organisations like eg LGB Alliance , but each to their own.

That flag is still a racist and homophobic abomination.

Receipts for that bold assertion? I could equally state that the vast, vast majority of the LGB community want nothing to do with straight people cosplaying and appropriating LGB history and struggles.

Is that because most of the TQ are straight?

Exactly that.

I always assumed that the rainbow-flag encompassed everyone human on planet Earth.
Who would feel the need to then pretend it had only covered people with peach coloured skin?
