Insurrection in the toilets

Popped to the loo in a supermarket earlier and THIS greeted me when I closed the door.

Not that I condone graffiti, but can't help admiring the woman who felt compelled to write that.

Thanks to this thread, I have also purchased some stickers and have been needing to use the facilities in all sorts of places locally. A few have been removed but some are still there a couple of weeks on.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/06/2023 14:09

My pens have arrived. I'm thinking of graffiting putting graffiti on pebbles and leaving them around.

The best stickers I've seen with facts/ statistics etc are from here -

Thanks @Waitwhat23 - these are great. Have ordered some!

Just went for a quick google stroll for other stickers and omg I’ve come scuttling back here for safety...

Etsy have so many anti-terf stickers that are all about ‘smashing’ ‘destroying’ ‘terf tears’ ‘a trans person peed here and you didn’t notice’ - all such violent language and let’s face it, very redolent of male aggression and disregard of boundaries…

If I was coy about defacing toilet walls before, I’m not now. I think I want to be in ‘educating’ mode - so many women are still oblivious and #bekind mode to the real implications of men in women’s spaces.

The messages on those stickers say it all with threats of violence or mocking, although I can't help but feel they actually do us a massive favour in pointing out exactly what we are up against in reality...

If I ever saw one of those stickers whilst out 'doing my business' I would leave it there for all to see, and for all to realise (if they hadn't already done so) what happens when women say 'no' and the consequences we often have to bear,

Pebbles - genius!

highame · 28/06/2023 07:32

Please spare a thought for the 'usually' women, on low wages, who have to clean this off.

highame · 28/06/2023 07:33

Posted too soon. Pebbles are such a fab idea

ArabeIIaScott · 28/06/2023 07:34

In my day, slates and ribbons were popular.

ArabeIIaScott · 28/06/2023 07:34

And chalk.

ChampagneCommunist · 28/06/2023 22:04

Glyndebourne: ladies toilets stickered. Neatly, obvs

Cheezecake · 28/06/2023 22:30

I put up the odd sticker in my toilets of choice. I know the cleaning person will have to remove them (or someone grumpy), but its better than permanent marker which will encourage vandalism yes, I'm an old lady who cares about such things

JFDIYOLO · 28/09/2023 10:07

I too did the 'if you can read this while peeing you're in the wrong loo' graffiti.

A few days later I was there again and someone had written TERF underneath.

I took great pleasure in adding in:

Trans-sceptic Educated Real Female

My god, the joys expressed on this thread of making a minority lives so much more difficult then they are now and celebrating criminal vandalism with intent expressed. That is truly sad. How did many of you come to this point where you lost perspective on what you are doing - i.e. persecuting other people.

Personally I find better hobbies than worrying about phantoms. My issue is with CIS men and their behaviours, not such a small minority.

ArabeIIaScott · 28/09/2023 10:55

I'd have thought cis men was a bit of an odd 'hobby', but it takes all sorts.

ArabeIIaScott · 28/09/2023 10:56

Plus, calling transwomen 'phantoms' sounds a bit like you're denying their actual existence, Mishy. Is that really what you meant?

IcakethereforeIam · 28/09/2023 10:57

I've a friend who works for Co-op Insurance. If there's anything in particular you want to worry about, I can ask her for you.

popebishop · 28/09/2023 10:58

Mishy admits again that promoting women's rights is in conflict with "trans rights"... you're not supposed to actually say it, even though we all know it, Mishy!

Genuinely glad though that when trans people talk about their lives being difficult, I now know it's because they've seen a sticker with suffragette colours on. I was under the impression things were worse, but good to know that's what people mean Flowers

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 28/09/2023 10:58

criminal vandalism 😂

aka the noble tradition of toilet graffiti

you know men are men with male pattern behaviours even if they say they’re women right Mishy ?

popebishop · 28/09/2023 11:01

But Mishy, you don't know who is a cis man, so how can you worry about it? Are there any criteria for having a man gender identity? You've never named even one.

Helleofabore · 28/09/2023 11:02

Phantoms! Wouldn't calling transwomen phantoms be very transphobic?

334bu · 28/09/2023 11:34

My issue is with CIS men and their behaviours, not such a small minority.

In what way are there behaviours different from men who identify as women?

My God, keeping predatory blokes out of women's toilets, is persecuting them!! 🤣

Remember Mishy, good men stay out, so bad men stand out.

I guess it's something to do now that the nights are pulling in.

BaronMunchausen · 28/09/2023 12:21

@MishyJDI why is your issue with "cis men" rather than all men?

And how does one distinguish between "cis men" and "transwomen"?

Buffyj · 28/09/2023 12:22

I came across this in a public toilet in Edinburgh during the summer. Made my day!
