Insurrection in the toilets

Popped to the loo in a supermarket earlier and THIS greeted me when I closed the door.

Not that I condone graffiti, but can't help admiring the woman who felt compelled to write that.

@OldGardinia like it!

LGBTQ

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/06/2023 13:46

The crossed out version looks like the B is crossed out too.

Could leave a gap

LGB TQ

YouJustDoYou · 04/06/2023 13:54

"No we don't want your penis! SHOCK HORROR, I know"

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 04/06/2023 13:54

The crossing out feels negative to me

I prefer the LGBA approach of picking what you do represent and just saying that

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 04/06/2023 13:57

Bloody love it Grin

My graffiti would be on the wall above the toilet and would say -
If you are reading this while peeing, you're in the wrong loo. 🙂

I may steal this idea

But for stickers where you need something short and quick that catches the eye. Even if you don't have chance to stop and look at it properly you know the sticker person disagrees with the teaming of LGB and TQ.

I agree with youbif setting up an organisation or charity. Something like LGBA needs to focus on what they do represent not what they don't or it's just a hate group which is wrong. But I think I'm written language and particularly if we are talking stickers and graffiti where there is only a sentence or two the crossing out would be most effective to highlight an important point. I think his because gender ideology and 'trans rights' has a habit of piggybacking and then co-opting other movements and charities etc. we need the clear message we see and reject the piggybacking

Boiledbeetle · 04/06/2023 14:28

I want this on a sticker

What PB said. 👆👆👆 Pick which you want based on context and need. But I will definitely be using LGB TQ for some of my purposes.

And suggested on another thread,

More Sappho
Less Foucault

My closest supermarket is a Waitrose. I might have to do similar, or a simple Women = Adult Human Female.

There are stickers bearing this caption in the (only) public loos of a small market town not far from where I live. And this is in a small locality, not a large city or anywhere near a university campus.

No, I did not put them there 😀but I was interested to see them situated there. Evidently the appetite for overriding women's rights doesn't extend to the provinces, or perhaps isn't as strong as some people think.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 04/06/2023 17:05

I went to my old college for a ‘do’ . There was a sticker in the loo saying ‘Transwomen are women’.

Thanks to always having a pentel in my bag, it now reads ‘Trans women are —men’.

Waitwhat23 · 04/06/2023 17:10

I live very, very rurally. And I know it's a bit of a cliche to say that on Mumsnet, but I do. I had put up sufragette ribbons on a lamppost near me, which stayed up for about a year. A few weeks ago, someone took them down and replaced them with a 'No LGB without the T' sticker. I put my ribbons back up but left the sticker (because, you know, plurality of views and all that).

The sticker is now gone. I did not remove it. Someone else, unconnected to me, in my rural location, has removed the sticker. The ribbons remain.

MsFogi · 04/06/2023 18:09

Wouldn't it be nice if any of us who see such graffiti added a little 'woman' (don't know how to do that on MN - you know the circle on a + to signify female) symbol next to it. Then we'd all start to see how many women were on TERF island....

You're right they would! That one is actually a For Women Scotland pin badge.

Waitwhat23 · 04/06/2023 20:38

I've got one of the other FWS badges

ChampagneCommunist · 05/06/2023 19:55

Went to Waitrose yesterday, so added a sticker to the loo paper dispenser.

Made sure it was tidy & level - it was Waitrose, after all.
