although she got talked over by Ed Balls quite a lot. It'll be on ITV1+1 at about 7:40 I think until just before 8am.

My theory on that, is that these men are mainly angry at other men who they are scared to stand up to, and then expect to be able to punch down because at least they're better than (all) women. When that doesn't work too good, FURY.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/05/2023 13:12

I think that describes a subset of them well, yes, Bez. The 50 year old alpha macho man type transitioning to be their "true selves" is another, we can't get into the motivations too much within talk guidelines.

AutumnCrow · 31/05/2023 13:29

I think they (the 'subjects') are angry with their mothers.

HEY LET'S GET ALL FREUDIAN, DUDES

If that ties into Oedipal issues (for the males) / Elektra issues (for females) then they're angry with their fathers too, and with their mothers for being with their fathers in the first place.

The very act of creation of the subject needs to be rejected at the point of conception so that the 'true trans person' can create themselves asexually, in order to save their psyche from intense feelings of jealousy of one or both parents. This new ideology permits psychic salvation, and feelings of euphoria serve to replace temporarily the powerful human emotion of shame.

I reckon that's what old Sigmund would say. Mind you, he was a right knob.

Ah, I see what you did there.

Discussions about the anger of beta males goes way, way back to the transitioning boys who had been ridiculed and rejected by girls at school as a boy, but in transition found those girls would nurture and listen and give lots of positive attention. The anger comes when they find the kindness and attention won't go as far as providing sex.

Kathleen Stock and the Oxford Union being discussed on Jeremy Vine Radio 2 right now.

His fave 'feminist and trans activist' Montie is on, talking utter balls again. It's quite the entertaining listen.

Was Jeremy doing his faux naivety thing again? I find that SO grating.

I have only just watched that clip. Ed Balls looks such an idiot there.

nilsmousehammer · 01/06/2023 12:19

Its been a bad week for Labour.

They are becoming the champions of spoiled, middle class young rebels without a cause, who have no commitment to the cause (witness the one part of the oil protest while having knocked up spectacular air miles to and from a distant over seas school) but love the opportunity for the behaviour involved. Mostly in the role of the indulgent middle class virtue signalling and slightly bumbling parents.

That isn't going to get the working man's vote, never mind the working woman's vote.

LabradorLady1 · 02/06/2023 00:06

It should bloody well be a bad week for Labour. If we end up with a Labour and Lib Dem government full of politicians who seem to think that women can have wangers we are all buggered. With the word woman eroded we are basically opening the door for predatory men (not necessarily true trans people) to claim our sports titles, short lists for books, enter rape crisis centres, prisons etc. It will set gender equality back 100 years. It’s a shame because I do agree with lots of their policies but they will not be getting my vote for sure!

LabradorLady1 · 02/06/2023 00:17

and I might add they have been discussing how denial of their gender woo-woo could be tantamount to hate speech. If they were to pass this in law we could end up being criminalised simply for putting our hands up and complaining that it doesn’t all seem very fair!

NotHavingIt · 02/06/2023 23:07

So many people have been dismissing this issue as a non issue for so long, that now it is a bona fide issue they haven't got clue what the issue is at all. Embarrassing! But scary too.

I actually like Ed Balls - it is awful to see him floundering in this way - and in doing so making a complete tit of himself.

This.

It would be bringing back heresy laws of the kind rampant in Tudor times, and it created a bloody mess then.

People whining about 'but other issues are more important than women's equality in law' are missing this point entirely. This fixing of compelled belief, compelled speech and punishment for failing to deny reality on command is insanity. You can hardly think a bunch of nutjobs who are sufficiently loopy to think this is the right way to run a country and apparently lack the capacity to think things through any further and see the very obvious issues - not least their utter lack of respect for humans Not Like Them - are going to be any more sensible on other issue.

I'm part way through the Matt Walsh film, What is a Woman, and I swear to god, not only do the people immersed in gender woo come across as absolutely insane - doctors, teachers, politicians - countless others, not neck deep in it, appear absolutely petrified of it.

It's quite stunning.

Datun · 03/06/2023 03:52

Heresy laws is exactly it.

They’re terrified!

It’d be like making atheism illegal!

littlbrowndog · 03/06/2023 06:59

I watched the Matt Walsh film datun.

you are right. They are so scared to say the wrong thing

but the thing that chilled me to the bones was that doctor who did the surgeries. The things she said were chilling
and the dad who got put in jail in Canada for misgendering his 13 year old daughter!!

Absolutely.

Of course I think women's rights are crucially important, but the authoritarianism, the control, coercion and manipulation of those pushing genderist ideas are what I find really breathtaking.

These are people who are willing to state absurdities. To attack, defame, smear, threaten and lie.

Basically they'll do whatever it takes to get their ideology entrenched; they don't care who is harmed.

LabradorLady1 · 03/06/2023 10:45

I have just finished watching the ‘what is a woman’ film (link on Twitter via Elon Musk’s page or Daily Wire). As Elon has tweeted ‘every parent must watch this’. Over 100 million people have watched it since it was posted yesterday afternoon and counting!! I hope that the pendulum (in America at least) is starting to swing the other way. This nonsense is damaging children and has to stop.

Thanks! This was just a really quick piece. I'm working on lots of other pieces about women in history meanwhile.

Just read this @EleanorScott .
It's great! Thanks for writing and posting. Gave it a like too

nilsmousehammer · 03/06/2023 12:35

Matthew Parris also busy demonstrating how leftist men at the moment seem to have their ears tuned to the point that they just can't hear women. Critical thinking, any grip on reality, and ability to foresee the bleeding obvious mode also appears to be switched off.

It's depressing. That party is increasingly looking buggered beyond hope of recovery. Fgs where's a sane middle-left new party? The goal's open wide.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 03/06/2023 14:12

People whining about 'but other issues are more important than women's equality in law' are missing this point entirely

The point they're also missing is that a) they are important to women and b) dismissing women's issues as 'not important' is not a good look as far as millions of women are concerned. Start losing rights that have been hard fought for and kiss goodbye to getting them back.

nilsmousehammer · 03/06/2023 21:51

'Odd and slightly baffling' sums up the attitude of most of Labour on this matter tbf Ed.
