The right solvent is very quick. Which must be annoying if you are planning a Superglue Gotcha.

nilsmousehammer · 30/05/2023 18:44

It was a silly thing to do but I hope sincerely she isn't hurt. I find her views as silly as sticking herself to the floor, but she doesn't deserve to be hurt. No one does.

Saucery · 30/05/2023 18:47

She won’t be hurt. Supergluing is chosen because of the sheer faff getting the right solvents there are and applied to an uncooperative person. Anyone undertaking that removal will be super, super careful, particularly in circumstances like these.

That picture is hilarious, looks like a small child wandered in by mistake, interrupting the adults in the room.

I wish someone would have asked her to reveal her sources for all the 'dead trans kids'.

I expect security are by now wise to this, given how often it's used in protests? They must have the correct solvent in a handy pocket-sized bottle for every eventuality.

Thanks for explanation, though, I've always worried about people getting injured glueing themselves to things.

DrBlackbird · 30/05/2023 18:53

They really can’t allow professor Stock to speak though. Otherwise it will be suddenly clear that she’s not transphobic and is saying something perfectly reasonable and logical.

And also something that 99.9% of the populace also believe.

xabia · 30/05/2023 19:03

@TinyTopknot
Look at the other thread on this- reported by Cherwell on-line as KS arrived in the chamberSmile

ArabeIIaScott · 30/05/2023 18:42

Given the speed with which they removed her from the floor, I suspect she'd used Pritt stick.

'Prat' stick?

Couldn't they just cone her off?

Hi again. I'm hoping to publish a short blog post tonight about this, quoting from this thread, if posters are ok with that - specifically quoting (with acknowledgement) from the posts of @FlirtsWithRhinos and @WallaceinAnderland?

(I mostly write about archaeology and women's history; but I've done previous blog posts on my website about Mumsnet webchats with both Labour and Conservative politicians that have been discussed on FWR.)

Very happy for anyone to reuse anything that is useful from my posts. No need to acknowledge but certainly do if you want to.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/05/2023 23:24

Eleanor's other blogs have been great. Look forward to reading.

Some parents are too busy teaching their children about accounts and social smarts, they neglected science and having a moral compass regarding lies.

He’s amazing and I absolutely don’t want anyone gunning for him, but isn’t it interesting that men staying facts don’t get half as vilified as your KS, JKR.

I kind of wish they let the Man with his hand shoot up ask a question, just to see him get shot down by science but we know how that would go.

But, But I’m a Woman because I say I am, and all your science and reasoning can’t take that away from me. Stamps foot.

@EleanorScott I enjoyed reading this. Thank you for sharing it.

Given the fuss that most universities make about even using Blutack, surely this student should have used Command strips instead.

Heliotroper · 31/05/2023 11:33

"Ed Balls also used the ridiculous technique of spouting, ‘lots of people would say that’s an extreme’, without any data to back up that lazy assertion. "

Not only is the 'lots of people would say' ridiculous but cowardly. If there is any truth to that statement why does he not just say it himself?

Ed Balls is such a sack of meat.

WinterTrees · 31/05/2023 12:15

Kathleen Stock and the Oxford Union being discussed on Jeremy Vine Radio 2 right now.

His fave 'feminist and trans activist' Montie is on, talking utter balls again. It's quite the entertaining listen.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/05/2023 12:16

"What's all this about then"?

TheBiologyStupid · 31/05/2023 12:16

EleanorScott · 31/05/2023 00:19

Thanks! This was just a really quick piece. I'm working on lots of other pieces about women in history meanwhile.

That's excellent - thanks, Eleanor!

Claire Fox spelling it out.

The aggression and extremism of the responses of trans activists is in direct proportion to the extent they realise that their arguments are insupportable.

They angry cause they know they can't defend their assertions.

There is also a small but not entirely insignificant proportion of men who simply get really, really angry when a woman disagrees with them.

I'm related to one, and I've worked with a couple of others. I think Jolyon Maugham might be one. Owen Jones is definitely one. A a fair few TRAs.
