What is the consensus on the correct/best pride flag for those who are gender critical?

That flags are naff and the kind of my-teams-better-than-your-team-check-out-my-cool-avatar nonsense that I want nothing to do with?

Suffragette colours have meaning to me, but this isn't a side or a team or a group think unit.

nilsmousehammer · 25/05/2023 14:42

And as a homosexual I now hate the sight of rainbows....

Also, as soon as people started using said flags, there would be sympathetic articles/on the radio about the special emotional and historical significance the colours used in the flag had to the T community. And the flag would turn out to be the same as a flag for "...." and so also start being used by people in their twitter etc to show that they were pro trans. Its all very silly.

My sense of self is not so tenuous that I require external markers of belonging or identity. No thanks.

As a Lesbian I hate these flags too...
And I don't want anything to do with even LGB...
Just women; half of humanity

The 'cis' flag is easy, it'd just be white.

DemiColon · 25/05/2023 15:09

Isn't this flag business part of the problem?

Exactly this.

Rainbows are - or were - a symbol of hope. Anyone can carry a symbol of hope so anyone can carry a rainbow flag on a Pride march. Or any other march really. It would be nice to reclaim that meaning instead of scrapping over who feels excluded by the colour of the stripes.

Maybe a giant inflatable dinosaur?

CampervanKween · 25/05/2023 15:26

This is my flag 😎 you are most welcome to join me.

Is it a flag or a suit of armour we need?

I still wear rainbow stuff as a sign of hope. I will not let them appropriate the rainbow so as I was into rainbows before all this nonsense, so I shall still wear them as jewellery or have as decorations. They are beautiful things.

The plus side is there's more rainbow stuff to choose from a lot of it naff, but not all.

Besides the rainbow flag is passe now for trans, its all about the new flag with the horrid black and brown V in which rather spoils it.

NotHavingIt · 25/05/2023 15:39

Having a flag is surely buyng into the whole identity thing?

DappledOliveGroves · 25/05/2023 15:43

Bisexual here and loathe the flag and anything rainbow related now 😞

In the old days we made flags rather than bought them. I rather like the Labrys on a purple background for a lesbian flag.

I would like to reclaim colours from their various cases of appropriation:

Red white and green are not just for Christmas,

Silver and turquoise aren't either,

Red, white and blue aren't patriotic for any state,

Pink isn't for girls, nor blue for boys,

Rainbows are for everyone (especially my little grandson, who loves them)

Atishoos · 25/05/2023 16:20

Pride in what please?

TinselAngel · 25/05/2023 16:22

You can all wave the Trans Widows flag if you want.

Hating women is nothing to boast of. Happens all the time though.

Yep. I'm sorry, but I have quite an aversion to flags. Of all stripes.

Probably developed during the lead up to the last Scottish indie referendum, where we had a ridiculous up-and-down the flagpole of the Union Jack, the Saltire, and various other flags.
